trying to figure out who killed a man inside a home there. a lot of news to get to this saturday, august 22nd. thanks for joining us. i'm david culver. >> i'm angie goff. thanks for being with us today. >> a man locked himself inside a home, shot and killed a family member. let's get to derrick ward who is live from the scene with more. derrick? >> reporter: good morning. we are a couple blocks away. police set up a wide perimeter around the house. you can take a look here. this is essentially a play field at a school that's set up as a command post. the tragedy and i guess the excitement, not necessarily the excitement, but the quietness and tranquility of this neighborhood. this all started yesterday at 11:00 a.m. according to police a gunman shot a woman on 18th street.

after that, he ran down the street, fired more shots and bolted in a house at 18th. the victim is a woman. she died on the scene. the suspected gunman said to be in his 70s hon holed up in the house since then. there have been negotiations. police are using a bull horn to get the person out. there's been no movement inside the house. response from folks that live around here say both people are neighborhood -- nobody is identifying anybody yet. they know the woman and the man involved as well. it adds to the tragedy of it all. >> i think the best part of it is that not just being concerned, but grieving, a sadness that this wasn't resolved and a life is gone.

>> reporter: there's a wide perimeter set up around the intersection. negotiations will continue. what you see here is one of the staging areas for this. we don't know how long this will go on. of course there's going to be negotiations back and forth. again, we haven't heard anything from where we are. police said there have been no detections of movement inside the house. now, we are told by someone who is familiar with these folks, this may have stemmed from a landlord/ten tenant situation. the person who is suspected of shooting the woman may have been in the process of being evicted. we don't know yet if that is the case. police are keeping this area pretty much sealed off. you are going to have traffic issues if you normally drive-through this area, stay on south dakota, the bigger streets. the neighborhood streets are blocked off. more on this later. we are live in northeast,

derrick ward, news 4. >> thank you, we'll check in with you later. a shooting on stephens road. police tells us someone shot a man in the het. they have not confirmed if he passed away. >> the other shooting we are following is the district's 100th homicide of the year. it happened after 3:00 this morning. someone shot a man on 54th street in northeast. the man was shot several times and died at the scene. no word on who may have done this or why. we want to turn to the weather. we are looking at 8:30. another great weekend to get outside. >> it is a beautiful weekend starting out in the 60s. we are getting warmer. >> we are. that temperature is shootinging right on up. we started in the hid-60s and we are already in the low 70s. some area started in the 50s. definitely a mild morning. the good news is the low
