right now at 6:00, police say a woman ran even killed a man in her suv. we are live with what led up to that deadly attack. for the first time, we are hearing from a u.s. airman who helped take down a gunman on a train in france. and double the excitement at the national zoo. an update tonight on the twin panda cub births. an argument between a couple turns glade maryland. police say he was trying to leave when she got in an suv and ran him over. news4's jackie bensen is live. how did this all play out?

>> reporter: well, when you look at this street, it's in a residential neighborhood, very quiet. the street has speed bumps so it's very difficult even to get up any amount of speed. now, when police arrived here, it became very clear to them, i think, that the driver of the vehicle who was still on the scene and the man who was struck knew each other and here is how police describe what happened. >> preliminariry what appears to happen, there was a man and woman having some sort of domestic dispute inside the residence. the man left the residence on foot. the woman left the residence in a vehicle. at some point, she struck him with the vehicle. >> reporter: now, police have not identified the man who was killed and they say at this time, no charges have been filed. that does not mean they won't at some point. back to you. >> jackie bensen, thanks so very much.

developing now in northeast, police still on the scene of a stabbing that happened just before 3:00 this afternoon. these are live pictures right now from the 4800 block of meade street. police say they found a person unconscious, not breathing. they are still looking for a suspect in this case. and after beautiful weather this weekend, for the most part, we are looking at a nice start to the workweek. we have frederick county schools beginning tomorrow and also, the district, if you are heading back to school your first day, i want to wish you and your family the best of luck. so 7 a.m. at the bus stop, getting ready to head to school, 70 degrees in washington much the suburbs, a little bit cooler there, 60s, maybe a light jacket, but definitely want to layer. by 9 a.m., nice, a temperature of 76. again, at the bus stop tomorrow morning, a little bit cool in the suburbs but recess looking great. warm and humid by dismissal, erika, it's hot. tomorrow night, dealing with some rain, i will have the latest on that, humidity

forecast coming up in a bit. >> thanks, amelia. a veteran baltimore county fire lieutenant was one of two people killed during a crash involving two motorcycles. hubert harrison jr. had just finished his shift, working fire dispatch in towson. he was on his way home to bowie when that crash happened about 4:30 this morning on laurel bowie road. police say the man crossed a center line, crashing his motorcycle head-on into harrison's bike. both men died on the scene. >> for a law enforcement family, our hearts definitely go out to this lieutenant and his family. he was just coming home from work after a shift. so, definitely, our hearts go out to this -- to the baltimore county fire department as well as his family. >> harrison was a 29-year veteran of the baltimore county fire department. police investigators trying to figure out why the other driver lost control.

a frightening morning for people at an apartment complex in southeast d.c. police say a man came into the complex on the -- on 28th street with a gun around 6:00 this morning. they say that he started firing shots. a slew of heavily armed officers responded to the scene but they say the suspect got away. investigators believe this was connected to a domestic situation with a woman who lives on the property but nobody was injured. they are still looking for that man, but they do not believe that's a threat to the public. 11 people, including two firefighters, are in the hospital after this high-rise fire in new york city. cell phone video caught the flames shooting out of the apartment building in harlem this morning. fire officials say the fire started somewhere on the 16th or 17th floors. several apartments were damaged in this fire. cancer is not stopping former president jimmy carter from passing on some important life lessons. the former president taught

tonight, for the first time, we are hearing from an american airman who helped prevent a massacre on a trip to paris. spencer stone has his arm in a sling. he and his friends sprang into action a heavily armed man got on to a train friday with an assault rifle strapped to his chest. >> seemed like he just kept pulling more weapons left and right, pulled out a handgun, took that, box book out a box cutter, started squlabing at me with that. we let go, all three of us

started punching him while he is in the middle of us. and i was able to grab him again and choke him unconscious. >> french counterterrorism police are questioning the gunman now. tomorrow though, france's president will give the americans the prestigious legion of honor medal. metro transit police say things went well during a full-scale emergency drill today. they simulated a smoke emergency at the stadium armory metro station. the drill involved about 30 people on a train as the tunnel started filling with smoke. metro transit police worked with the fire department to test communication during a critical incident like this. earlier this year, a woman died during a smoke incident at the l'enfant plaza station. communication problems were also uncovered during the ntsb's investigation. >> communication is something that's always going to be challenged in this type of environment. today, we did not experience any, so, another one of those action items we are trying to

it's all about two at the national zoo, two new healthy panda cubs two times the excitement for visitors, and to make things even better, the zoo's current panda cub, bao bao, turned 2 today. news4's derrick ward has a status update for us. >> reporter: any panda know what is that sound means and so does the director of the national zoo. it means there's a new panda in town n this case, there's two. >> this is very exciting news. and was a bit of a surprise for us. >> reporter: the first birth was around 5:30, the second just after 10 p.m. on saturday. it is only the third time there have been twin births in the u.s. in the wild, it's a different story. >> we know that twins are very common. we have seen them in the caves and the dens that the wild pandas built. >> reporter: for these pandas to be born when they were, add mothers level of excitement here. it so happens to be bao bao's

second birthday. not to be outshined, she managed to take the cake. while bao bao was non-plussed by this, for zoo officials it is the exact opposite sent.two births are rare in captivity and now starting to get business same whole set of proet comes helping out with the double duties of motherhood. >> so what we are trying to do is swap the cubs and give one at a time each, you know, each have time with mom while the other one is kept warm in an incubator. >> reporter: with all this attention from visitors for the pandas, there may be time for neighbors to get a little private time outside. still, could some of the visitors we talked to just came upon the news of the new births. >> i didn't realize it until i saw it this morning on the news that they had given birth and we thought, we would come to the zoo today. >> reporter: others are a little surprised about how much of an event a birth and birthday are here. >> yeah, we are. >> yeah. it's been really nice, actually. >> can't believe they made a cake for the pandas. >> reporter: what they will be making the next few weeks are
