thomas stone elementary had to cancel class because of this. we'll have more on the break and what parents have to say about this. everyone else in prince george's county, back to school, and it's going to be a little bit different this year. most students will have at least one new teacher. news 4, molette greene is at a brand new school that caters to students from 19 different countries. >> reporter: i'm at a campus that is hosting two high schools. one is brand new. and it's the temporary location for new international school for immigrants and second generation students who make up about 24 % of the student population in this county, and could be at greatest risk for failing. this ninth grader is in the breakfast line at the new international high school at langly park. one of two schools in prince

right now metro changing one of the bus routs after someone shot at a bus hitting someone inside. metro is now going to impose a major detour around this troubled spot. meghan fitzgerald has the latest on when the changes could be taking place. >> reporter: metro is calling it a 7-day security details. it means the bus won't be stopping on elvins road any time after 7:00 p.m. this took effect as of yesterday. we had an opportunity to speak with neighbors who say it's not fair but bus operators say it's their lives on the line. for many folks, the bus is the safest and most efficient way to get from place to place. >> i catch the bus every day. >> i take the wa and 94 on a regular basis. >> reporter: on monday night, neighbors who take the bus was put on notice. buses won't be stopping here after 7:00 p.m. the metro says it's a matter of safety in fact on friday night,

someone shot at a bus on the 2400 block of elvans road. a passenger was struck. a few hours later in the same area, rocks were thrown at a bus. this woman understands the concerns but doesn't think the 7:00 p.m. suspension is fair. >> it's not appropriate. it's not helpful to people who don't have anything to do with it. >> reporter: bus operators have a different perspective. your scared. you could be shot doing this job. this man says it's a major concern for many drivers. it's why he says the temporary restrictions will give operators some peace of mind. >> i have to live too. i have to survive. i have a family i have to take care of. they want me home every day too. >> reporter: metro says at this point regular service is supposed to resume on starting

press secretary of josh earnest did not say anything to quiet speculation of a biden run. >> to add joe biden to his ticket was his best decision. that should give you a view of his thoughts of biden's aptitude. a young father of two is dead after this indycar crash. justin wilson was behind this car when it spun out sunday on the pocono raceway. something flew off the car and hit wilson in the head. he then veered into a hall. he was in a coma until he died last night. new today, police need your help finding a man who exposed himself to a university of maryland employee on saturday morning. it was sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning in college park. police say the woman was walking along paint branch parkway. the man pulled up alongside her in a black suv and asked in spanish if she needed a ride.

miles per hour. all part of an aggressive inspection after this month's derailment, according to metro. the transit agency says it will lift the restrictions once the inspection is done. on this midday, a utah boy back home after he spent 24 hours lost in the woods alone. a 10-year-old was fishing with his dad when he walked off. the boy spent the whole night alone in the woods. search crews and volunteers from six different countries pulled together to look for the boy, and there he is. crews flying in a chopper spotted him and vefrlgly eventually reunited him with his family. >> city leaders held an event to launch the you ask app this morning. it was created to stop sexual assault and rape at all the universities in the district. it lets you report problems and has a panic button and information for victims.

the plotting positions. 15 .2 north, 52 west. sustained winds at 45 miles per hour. the storm is going west at a good forward speed. it should trek north of san juan late thursday night into friday and toward 8:00 sunday morning, forecast to be a category 1 hurricane. the south eastern u.s. is going to have to keep an eye on it. they have it turning away from the coast but until it makes the turn, our eyes are on it. >> we'll stick with mother nature here. take a look at this. that's a tornado that made a huge mess. this is in southern australia, south eastern australia. the firefighter who filmed the storm said this funnel just took out power lines, damaged homes. people who live in this town, they say they just remember hearing this monster sound, and then seeing that funnel cloud it. >> wow. >> amazing.

thing. we just talked with them a little while ago and you see behind the yellow sign, there's the old pipe and next to that, the black pipes are the new pipes. good signs. they are now saying the water should be back on in the neighborhood early this afternoon after a long day. thomas stone elementary had to turn away students and parents on this first day back to school. there's no water in the building because of a water main break down the street at allison and 4 34th. so thomas stone is closed on the first day. >> are you disappointed? >> a little bit. >> her son is a third grader and he was ready to go back. >> i was excited. >> reporter: at the queens town apartments, people are getting water straight from the hydrant and taking it home. 18 hours without running water now. these two go to another elementary. their school is open but getting

ready this morning was hard. >> they have fire hydrants to get water. we got water and boiled it up and was able to wash them up and brush teeth. hope they get to school. >> reporter: they are making progress and the water should be on early this afternoon. the repair job is complicated. workers had to cut through a drain to get to the pipe. do you love the first day of school? >> yes. >> reporter: now, 85 customers were without water because of the water main break here but one of those 85 is that apartment complex we showed you. so when you think about the number of people, it's many more than 85. good news, it should be repaired over the next few years, and it's for thomas stone element

we'll be running a phone bank and you can donate starting at 1:00 in the morning. >> bus. we watched several buses as they took off from the bus depot this morning. they put 83,000 kids on the bus every single day. you need to be careful out there. this morning we got a few pointers on how best to stay safe with students on the roads now. the national highway traffic safety administration says to drive more slowly when kids are going to and from school. you see the signs and the flashes lights. if you're driving a child, drop them off so they don't have to cross a street. also, make sure kids are waiting for the bus and are three giant steps away from it when it pulls up to get them. i like that three giant steps away. that's a good staafety precauti.

>> right now a utah woman is behind bars for driving the wrong way on an interstate. take a look at police dash cam. officers try to pull her over. she takes off. a trooper was able to hit the back of her suv. that caused it to flip over. the driver tried to hijack other vehicles after that. it didn't work. >> a small girl about 100 pounds, and it look five troopers to get her into custody. we're unsure of the drugs she was on, but we believe it was some drugs and possibly some mental issues. >> wow. five troopers. fortunately nobody was seriously hurt in the crash. >> a lot of people have taken a tumble in public. one boy did it in an unfortunate place.
