proximity to guantanamo bay that drew the pope here. for years francis has urged the u.s. to close the american military base and prison facility there. but his homily this afternoon made no mention of politics, instead focusing on service and the catholic faith. a testament to that faith, his trip to bless the city from the hill of the cross. his final stop this evening will be in santiago for a second mass. then francis will turn his attention to the u.s. >> the pope has made so many changes and is spreading the word of love and unity and hope for everyone. >> reporter: a message he now will share with the faithful in the u.s. and he will spend six days in our country, starting, as you talk about there, in washington. he's scheduled it leave cuba just before noon tomorrow. that's the latest live here in havana. jay gray, back to you.
