four days. some areas saw that tonight. look at this area right here, incredible amounts of rain from leesburg to frederick. the storm is just about out of here. we have very heavy rain into portions of southern maryland, all moving out. look at these rainfall totals, 4 1/2 in frederick, one report in leesburg, 6 inches of rain and over 32 inches in fredericksburg and 3 inches in maryland. incredible the last few hours. that's only in the last six hours. rainfall rates were quite high. flashflood remains in the darker green. areas in lighter green, this includes upper marlboro and flooding concerns right now making its way to your region. that's today's system, just about out of here. the next system starts with the nor'easter and tropical storm joakim a 70 miles an hour

parked nearby. we're following developing news in georgia where just a few minutes ago the u.s. supreme court denied another stay of execution for the only woman on death row in georgia. kelly guess end-- gissendaner scheduled to be put to death tonight but her daughter ral rallying for her support to the end. >> we are still fighting. do not lose your faith. this is not over. >> we pray also interior judges, supreme court and all who might hear this appeal and ask that you soften her heart. >> she has pleaded for her life and so has pope francis and called for an end to the death penalty in d.c. and sent a letter on her behalf to the georgia pa role board. they rejected her appeal and she was convicted of conspireing to murder her husband 20 years ago.

the man who actually stabbed dan gissendaner is serving a life sentence. and the man was pushed to stab her husband and later had a spiritual awakening. all these appeals and we're still awaiting confirmation whether she's been executed. >> thank you. we are in the middle of a death penalty boom across our country right now. six people including gissendaner are scheduled to be executed in the next nine days. man is scheduled for beating another man with a baseball bat. his execution was delayed several times because of evidence questions. >> only the supreme court can stop it now. virginia will carry out its first execution in nearly three years this thursday. governor terry mcauliffe refused to delay the execution of serial killer prieto.

to bring out the rain. incredible amounts of rain in this region. see that red area? it moved up. fortunately most of this is out of the area. we are now out of it. still looking at rain to the south, calvert county picked up 2 inches and you can see lightning associated with that. most continues to move out. any rain behind it? there is. but it's very scattered. for the most part the heavy rain is done and we have a flashflood watch in parts of the area from noon to tomorrow in case we see another heavy downpour or two. look at the moisture streaming from the gulf and off the laerk ocean. we have tons of moisture available. we will see a cold front come through during the afternoon tomorrow. first, we will get rather warm tomorrow. high 70s to 80 degrees. can't rule out a shower or two.

a low impact day, warm and humid. a few showers, take the umbrella, take the small umbrella and then we see things change. a month's worth of rain. some will get it tonight. very humid conditions, cold front moves through and sets up an area of high pressure to our north and area of low pressure comes up and combine the two with a strong northerly flow, nor'easter developing friday and saturday without joakim moving in we still get coastal flo flooding, beach erosion, winds 35 miles an hour and 3-6 inches of rain and some more than that. if joaquin is able to move into that system all bets are off. just to the east of the bahamas, hurricane watch up for the bahamas. winds of 70 miles an hour just below hurricane strength, exp t expected to be a hurricane this time tomorrow, 85 miles an hour winds. look at thursday, 100 miles an hour winds, strong category 2,
