being mobilized to go to south carolina. look behind me at the warehouse at chantilly, all the activity going on to be ready to hit the road in just about an hour from now. let's go to video we first shot when we got here, about an hour or so again, people getting their bags ready. they have to be ready for a 10-day deployment. they have to get everything in those bags to be self-sufficient to make sure they're not a burden to the people down there they're going to serve. we're told 80 people with virginia task force 1 is heading to south carolina. this is a mission to help with all the flooding. we're used to seeing them involved in urban search and rescue. they're very well trained in dealing with water rescues as well. let's hear a little bit about the equipment they're taking with them to south carolina. >> we take a lot of search cameras with us and listening devices.

the biggest asset would be water resources. we have flatwater boats as well as swift water boats. we have them to do searches and rescues in the water. >> there's a lot of preparation that goes into this. they already have the boats on the trailers. that part is done. they're getting the bags ready. these are some of the things they're putting in, mres. they will take their own food and probably eat about three of these a day and own light sticks a couple things to be prepared to be away for as many as 10 days. they're set to head out of here. they are driving to south carolina probably about 1:00 this morning. >> darcy live in chin tilley for us. thanks so much. those virginia first responders are going to have their hands full. look at this video as people formed a human train to rescue one man trapped in the

floodwaters. south carolina has received more than 24 inches of rain. jay gray is in columbia where they may not have drinking water up to four days. >> reporter: good evening, a curfew in columbia, south carolina and regions around this city where the flooding has been historic and devastating. rescue teams worked around the clock and continue to pull people out of flooded neighborhoods up to higher ground. this afternoon, south carolina governor nicky hhey -- nikki haley talked about the magnitude. >> we're at a low flood level. >> teams will be out all night and that includes local and state police and sheriffs and firefighters working to save those who may be trapped and make sure no one else gets into these floodwaters. it's moving into areas it's never been before. this is an historic flood and

the patient and two security officers got into an altercation and the man died two days later. the security officers are on administrative leave. the hospital said we want to assure our community we are taking this situation verily and are helping gather the information they need. police are scouring surveillance video to find out what killed a woman in district heights. she was in a car that plowed into this apartment building on rochelle avenue last night. investigators still are not sure whether the crash killed her or something else. witnesses say they heard guns t gunshots before the crash. police say the woman had quote trauma to her upper body but stopped short saying she had been shot. nobody in the apartment building was hurt. tomorrow, the charles severance trialta
