announced with the victim's fam sflichlts. a self-proclaimed psychic accused of bilking thousands of dollars from visitors and her maryland home. it happened just steps from where families take their kids to play after school. police tell us several shots rang out at edgewood neighborhood park around 4:45 this afternoon. shomari stone with new reactions from neighbors tonight. shomari. >> reporter: good evening. police are searching for the shooter. i talked to lot of people in this community of silver spring. they are concerned because after school they walk their kids down the sidewalk and walk the street for their kids to get on the slide and play at that playground. they're upset it happened. >> it makes me feel unsafe.

>> reporter: she won't allow her daughter to play at the park. >> if we would have came we could have ended up getting shot ourselves. >> reporter: someone shot a 22-year-old man near this playground at 4:45 this evening in the briggs cheney area. a woman said she heard at least four shots. >> i don't want to take my kids there anymore. >> reporter: police searched in the woods and brought out can e canines and looking for a the shooter. >> they are collecting evidence and trying to determine what happened. >> it makes me feel concerned. >> reporter: saying the neighborhood has become more violent. >> it has been a safe neighborhood until the past few years. >> i live right down the street from that. i don't want to live an area that is going on. >> reporter: police have not released the name of the man who was killed and in the process of notifying his relatives. if you have information about this shooting you're urged to call the montgomery county police department. keep in mind you can also call

detectives anonymously. live in silver spring, i'm shomari stone, news4. new at 11, a high school teacher in our area has been busted for prostitution and solicitation of a minor. richard kemp is a teacher at a high school and investigators are looking at several cases involving the teacher. a letter went home that said a long term substitute teacher will take over his classes until further notice and providing counselors to talk with the students. >> we watched him being gunned down as he was running away from a police officer and now the city has agreed to give scott's family is.5 million. scott was pulled over for a busted taillight back in april. a bystander shot cell phone

official just put the brakes on plan to prop up federal oversight of metro. anthony cox favors plan that would focus plans to reform state oversight of metro. last night we told you the federal transportation system for monitoring metro have been ineffe ineffective. the ntsb wanted to transfer it to the federal but looks like that won't happen. meanwhile, you could tap in 0 the metro poor service. they fully admit service problems and other issues are driving riders away. they're looking for ways to stem the tide. one idea discussed today was raising and lowering the cost of trips based on the level of service. some riders we spoke to tonight are very frustrated with all the problems on the tracks. >> my first day at work on june 1st, the ac was off and there was a delay.

it smelled like a gym locker. >> another idea metro is considering is keeping off peak fares at a steady price instead of keeping the price based on how far you travel. metro is losing millions of dollars in revenue every month because of about 40,000 fewer trips per day and looking for ways to lure riders back and avoid raising the fares. u.s. airman spencer stone is in stable condition after undergoing two hours of surgery. he is one of three americans credited with stopping a terror attack on a french commuter train in august. last night he was stabbed out side a bar in sacramento. police say a fight led to the stabbing and alcohol was likely a factor. >> this incident is not related to terrorism in any way. we do not believe in any way -- we know it's not related to what occurred in france.

>> investigators are searching for two men who fled the scene. stone's doctor said even though he sustained some serious injuries, he is expected to recover. take a look at this video, a school bus driver lost her job after losing control behind the wheel. she made a hard left turn there without her seatbelt fastened. she lost her grip on the wheel and there she guess, completely fell out of her seat. the bus slammed into two cars near that house and luckily no children were involved. the driver did suffer a few injuries. her private and commercial driver's licenses have now been revo revoked. learning more about a huge rehab project on the bridge that should start in the spring. adam tuss took us under and inside that bridge to show us the places in need of repair. the bridge opened 92 years ago. it carries about 60,000 cars across the potomac between georgetown and arlington
