his body in the park where he disappeared back in september. derrick ward has more. derek? >> reporter: well, indeed. there was a search here at watkins regional park yesterday when a body was found in the area of the park that had been searched before. no positive identify indication yet but they believe it may be the body of liuben phipps. he had come here with a group from the assisted living facility. he apparently ask god to the bathroom and was never seen again. there was a search, signs went up with a phone number to call. yesterday they did come up with a body found in a soybean field.

this body was found 180 yards beyond where the search had ended that last time around. the body has been sent to the medical examiner in baltimore. the cause of death, there's no positive word yet is indeed mr. phipps. it's a 300-acre park. it's massive. five baseball fields, a streams a pod hiking field. we're live in upper marlboro. derrick ward, "news4." we're working to find ow how much more time "washington post" reporter jason rezaian will spend behind bars. iran state television reporting that last last night. the court says he can appeal that conviction within 20 days.

cain. we're told the 44-year-old was taking pictures, jumping from rock to rock when he fell close to 50 feet. people tried to help him but he died on the skreel scene. maryland natural resources police is handling the case. recovery efforts continue this morning. the water system is still under repair. they're trying to fix the canal. hundreds of thousands still have to boil water going into the second week of devastation. state officials are also working to get the roads whack to normal. also this morning some area air patrol members are back home after serving five days in south carolina. a few of the maryland civil air patrol pilots are from leesburg.

clinton beats only trump and senator ted cruz while joe biden beats every republican in the field. that's the latest from the live desk. the fefrt presidential candidate, of course, they'll take the establish in las vegas. cnn is hosting the debate. biden is spending the holiday in delaware deciding if he'll run for president. the supreme court could decide as early as tomorrow to hear the case. if the court hears the case and decides the law isn't legal, it could cause more challenges. in memphis, man is in custody in connection to a police officer's death. the man has not been charged with anything at this point. he's being questioned after an off-duty officer was shot in a

house yesterday. memphis police say they took the man into custody overnight. they say, quote, details are sketchy in their glgs so far. >> a horrible accident. that's what maryland natural resources say happened during a group hunt saturday afternoon. a 14-year-old on that trip in queen anne's county shot and killed the man who was leading the group. he was scaring a bird out of the bushes when the teenage boy shot him. someone splashed red paint on the roger brooke tani statue. people who say the stay sue is offensive want it removed. others say it would erase part of frederick's history. controversy surrounding the confederate flag continues as

hundreds gathered outside the mississippi state building. they marched with signs to support an initiative to remove the battle from the state's flag. supporters were also present to counter what they call negative attacks. they just want to see a flag that represents everyone. the group is working together. 100,000 signatures to place the flag change amendment on an upcoming ballot. a georgia man is accused of leaving his son in a hot van. he's facing murder charges. he's accused of leaving his son in a van for seven hours. he's pleaded not guilty. the president of an olive garden in kansas city is apologizing this morning for asking a police officer to leave. the offer who wicer who was in

arrive two hours before your flight departs and your boarding pass in hand. now, free pizza. that's what was passed out in los angeles at l.a.x. airport on sunday while passengers waited in long lines. many of them very frustrated. you can see why. those long lines for customers waiting hours to check in for their flight both inside and outside of the airport. this is what things looked like. it started sometime sunday morning but they're not saying when it will be fixed. in a searies of tweets they continue to apology. the customers say they're working quickly to try to resolve this technical issue. but, again, theory not saying how it started, when it will be resolved. the takeaway is if you're

20 minutes before the hour and police are trying to make sense of a deadly shoot-out. the suspect called lake charles police for a domestic dispute. when police got to the house her husband came out with pistol. officers say they shot him after they say he pointed his gun at them. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. in "news4 your health," new numbers on the flu vaccine. the new numbers say 92 million doses of the flu shot have been distributed so far. this year is a quad vaccine which means it protects against four different strains of the flu. doctors say there's a big supply to the flu vaccine now. if you get the shot, you should know it takes two weeks before it's effective against an

mow let green at the live desk. the "washington post" just released this statement on the guilty verdict announced for one of its correspondents. the paper's executive editor martin berra said the conviction of jason rezaian is outrageous and it's unconscionable to convict him of such a serious crime. overnight we learned the guilty

into your weekend is just five minutes from now. 6:47. a new discovery could quickly redirect the search of a miss hello 80-year-old man. that they found a body over the weekend at a park where he disappeared. "news4" with what happened next. derrick? >> reporter: yeah. we're outside watkins regional park right now. there's part of an effort to locate luben phipps, the senior assisted living home that he stayed for a senior's picnic. now he said he wanted to go to the bathroom and after that, he hadn't been seen. seen since then. there have been flyers all over the neighborhood and searches have combed this 300-acre park. yesterday they came back and they were searching a part of the park they had search previously described as a soybean field when they found

the body in that park. now t clothing matched the description of that that luben phipps was apparently wearing when he disappeared. however, there has been no positive i.d. at this point. the 80-year-old again was part of a group here for a seniors picnic. they've searched the park several times since then to have a public campaign to try to find him. the body has been taken to the medical examiner's office and that's where positive identification is expected to be made as well as a determination for the cause of death. live in upper marlboro. 6:48. one man is in police custody and another is in the hospital right now. police there say they were in a fight outside the cowboys' patriots game last night when one shot the other. according to the ft. worth star telegraph, they shot him in the head.
