died. the florida times is reporting that people are missing right now. palm beach fire and rescue responding to this. witnesses reporting seeing the plane drop out of the sky. right now officials, the faa are investigating and they say it's too early to say what caused the crash. eun. >> thank you, angie. 4:30 now. police in d.c. are asking you to help them find a man linked to a rape and sexual assault and burglary. a man got on to a home on the street in southeast not far from independence avenue. police say he attacked a woman that was home sometime between 2:00 and 3:00. the department is offering a $1,000 reward to make an arrest. developing in prince william county a homicide detective's death is the focus of a virginia state investigation. officials for the prince william police department said penia's death does not appear to be

suspicious. they said juan cared deeply for his family, friends and fellow department members. we are learning new details this morning about a deadly hit and run in the district. the victim is a 62-year-old man named leroy barnes. police say barnes was crossing sergeant road northeast when someone hit him yesterday morning. the first car pushed barnes into the path of another car. the second car stayed on the scene until police arrived but it was too late. police are looking for a dark colored suv. today another change for students who attend samuel chase. the school will be closed today and tomorrow. students from sam chase will still have class today and tomorrow. students need to report to cross land high school. samuel chase was closed yesterday after a fire in a classroom. breaking news on the roads right now, a major closure here,

bw parkway northbound at 32. we are shut down on bw parkway this morning because of a nasty crash. police pushing folks off on to 32. all lanes blocked. alternate trying to get to bwi thorough good marshall you have to take 95 north to get up into that direction of things. rockville pike north and south between cedar lane and cooksville road, we have twater main break. 95 northbound at route 1 right now had a little bit of a slowdown earlier. now it is looking better coming northbound out of quantico. chuck? outside today going to be a nice one for the most part. cool and dry outside this morning. you'll notice considerable north to northwesterly breeze. be ready for a bit of a breeze. much colder air coming our way as we head towards the weekend.

a gaithersburg man may face life in prison after being convicted of murder. tavon miles was part of a group that raided that montgomery county home looking for drugs and money. this happened of last year. miles was shot several times during the robbery. he killed the man who shot him, mark saint awe bin. miles will be sentenced in january. 4:34. today is the funeral for a man who died days after a struggle with security guards at a local hospital. 74-year-old james mcbride was a patient at med star hospital center two weeks ago. mcbride died two days after guards restrained him for trying to leave the hospital. his neck was broken but it's unclear how he died. his family will lay him to rest at fort lincoln funeral home in brentwood, maryland. check your smoke alarms. that is the message from the fairfax county fire department.

they rescued a couple from the second floor yesterday morning. the couple was air lifted to the hospital. we are learning that they are both in serious condition but are expected to be okay. >> one, have a working smoke alarm on every floor. soaked, when you go to bed at night, shut the bedroom door. >> fire investigators say the house did have working smoke alarms but four pets died in that fire. no word yet on what caused it. there will be road closures today for the u.s. park police's s.w.a.t. school. training exercises will be happening on the billy goal trail at chesapeake in potomac. be aware a section of the trail will be closed from 6:00 this morning to 3:00 in the afternoon. it will be closed from the angler's inn trail. the brother of a jailed washington post reporter says his imprisonment is cruel and inhumane. he's been in jail in iran for

over a year on charges including espionage. iran tv reported he was convicted and could face 20 years in prison. it's not clear what he was convicted of and the family says they haven't received any infmation. the state department is calling for iran to release him right away. >> i was startled when i got hit. >> dell wilbur was attack the on the capitol prison trail not by a robber, or a dog. an owl swooped down and hit him. he was jogging when he felt like someone hit him with a bottle. that attack happened on river road. after the first attack the owl swooped down and attacked somebody else. officials say the bird is probably young and mistaking reflections and pony tails for prey. >> i looked down the trail and a big bird that i assumed was an owl was swooping down on a woman jogging that direction with a

shrinking. our poorer families are becoming poorer and 70% of us earning the same or less than we were 12 years ago. >> reporter: so generally that information is true. the middle class is shrinking and a lot of families are poorer, but the washington post points out that some of the data that he was referring to was outdated in terms of the 70%. what 70% is he referring to? you really have to sort of dig into the numbers there to take a look at that. the bottom line, some of that data was outdated but the general point that he was making is still good. >> tracie potts live on the hill. thank you for that analysis. pretty bold statements from the gop. governor mike huckabee tweeted, quote, i trust bernie sanders with my tax dollars like i trust a north korean chef with my labrador. jeb bush took a stab at the candidates as a whole. he tweeted it's clear the democrats on stage tonight are running for obama's third term.

join me if you're ready to stop them. 4:48. new details in a murder investigation into the district. d.c. police are looking for this man. 23-year-old john anthony james. an arrest warrant said he shot and killed 21-year-old earnest massenberg bay jr. in prince gorges county police are looking for the person who shot two men near a school. one of the victims is dead. the shooting started at a town houn complex on 67th avenue yesterday afternoon. the crime scene spread out over several blocks and came close to bladensburg school. both victims were adults. 4:48. 12 d.c. families who were forced out of their homes have a place to stay for now. inside their apartment building the conditions are unfit for anyone to live. so city moved the families to temporary housing inside a hotel. >> can't take baths for like two to three weeks and stuff like

that. >> there were over 287 code violations dcra has issued to this landlord starting in about april. >> one woman forced to move had to postpone her husband's funeral. the building's owner locked himself in a utility closet as mark seagraves tried to talk to him. one baltimore city police officer is not on the job this morning. we are learning that there is a criminal investigation underway over allegations the officer spit on a man he arrested. an onlooker recorded video of the incident monday night. witnesses say police ordered several people off the steps of a building. one man argued with an officer and was tased and handcuffed. that's when witnesses say the officer spit on the man. >> i think any person can look and come away with some serious ken

concerns. this isn't being looked at, reviewed, glanced at, this is a full blown internal investigation. >> police officers in baltimore will start wearing body cameras later this month. police in frederick, maryland, need your help identifying two people who were accused of vandalizing the bust of a supreme court justice. the video shows the suspect heading towards the bust of roger brook tawny outside of city hall. they were carrying a plastic bag with a paint can inside. the bust was found sunday morning covered in red paint like substance. maryland governor larry hogan has finished his final round of chemotherapy. he took to facebook to thank the university of maryland medical center for their dedication and amazing work. he posted on facebook over the last four months i've undergone 30 days of 24 hour chemo, three surgeries, four spinal taps and countless scans. hogan was diagnosed with bc nonhodgkin's lymphoma in june

and sunday afternoon. right now it is 60 with a northwest wind. here in washington the northwest breezes will increase today. it will be breezy at times but there will be plenty of sunshine. temperatures today back down near average and our average now is at 69 degrees. 52 in gaithersburg right now. 52 manassas. 51 in clinton, maryland. hourly temperatures mostly in the 50s here for the next couple of hours. we'll be in the low 60s by 10. mid 60s by lunchtime. upper 60s to right around 70 degrees for a high today. 71 on the national mall. 65 gait thers birg this afternoon. 64 in hagerstown. already starting to think about going out and taking a look at the fall color. already quite a bit of color in far western maryland and the high spot of the mountains of west virginia. more fall foliage will be coming our way as there's another significant cold front our way. it will be nice today. next little chance for a shower doesn't show up until we get into the day on friday.
