a sad update. we now learn a man died from his injuries. police say richard sell was shot sunday during a parking lot tailgate party after the cowboys/patriots game. he was trying to break up a fight. a 28-year-old man is jailed on charges of murder and grag vated assault. that is the latest.

molette, thank you. it's 5:16 now. we turn to the repairs on the water main. how to get around the closures and megan mcgrath has an update on a problem now in its third day. i hope there's some progress. >> reporter: yeah, this is a problem that's been occurring for a couple of days wc days. we are seeing progress. they're making great progress in the short time we've been here. they've been laying down the asphalt and while this is still an issue and going to be an issue, it may not be with us for the entirety of rush hour. so that's good news. now, a 16-inch water main break here on rockville pike burst on tuesday flooding a street and causing all kinds of traffic tie-ups. they have fixed the pipe and now all they have left to do is repair a roadway.
