they arrested a man for a shooting and named him just in the last hour. they say the suspect had a suspected history of a violent crime including a former murder charge. also in albuquerque, new developments in the deadly shooting of a little girl. police say i starltd as a road rage incident. the man confessed to shooting the 4-year-old girl through a car window tuesday. he's in jay on a $650,000 bond. happening today, a 19-year-old man will be sentenced for assaulting a man on a metro is calculator. that's not the only thing he'll be admitting to. he also punched an officer in the face. smith intervened and punched an officer when he tried to arrest

him. he also knocked down a man in the market. in 2015 he attacked a robber. that happened in silver springs. we're lenning the name of the 95-year-old woman who was killed. the driver of a bmw hit margaret widrow. she was in the crosswalk. the driver stayed on the scene. police are trying to figure out what happened there. >> expect political drama to play out on capitol hill. hillary clinton will testify about a controversial time. a select committee of house lawmakers will grill her on the benghazi attack and the events leading up to them. benghazi took off from her campaign to prepare for this. she claimed the attack is no more than the republicans campaigning against her.

not everyone agrees. four americans died on september 11, 2012. today lawmakers are expected to ask clinton to why she didn't request additional security and why the request despite the closures of nearly all the other consulates. another story on capitol hill is whether congressman paul ryan will be the next speaker of the house. he wants an endorsement from the hard line house freedom caucus. last night more than 77% of the members did back him but not the 80% he needs for a formal endorsement. the republican leaders will vote on a speaker of the house next wednesday. and tomorrow a former d.c. police officer and pastor accused of crimes against children should be in court. d.c. police arrested darrell betts. pictures led to additional porn charges.

and the man is waking up in police custody this morning accused of killing his 9-month-old daughter. police arrested ellis yesterday. he originally told police the little girl went limp while he was feeding her, but the medical examiner said the infant died of blunt force trauma to the head. 5:06. we're hearing from the daughter of a woman found murdered in her home. she discovered her mother's body on tuesday. police have arrested this man, mitchell jones. she told frus the beginning she suspected man who was an acquaintance of her mother's. >> it's really hard to think

that someone would do this to her. >> right now police will not confirm that the suspect mitchell cole knew the victim. they did tell us they believe only one person was involved in the murder. i'm molette green in the news room. we want you to keep a close eye on children getting on and off the bus. police stopped giving out tickets to drivers who ignore school bus stop signs weeks ago on october 2nd because of how this law is worded. at issue, whether violators had to be ticketed in person or receive a citation in the mail. the 2011 law did not exclusively provide that. it's still illegal to pass a stopped school bus with its stop

5:17. breaking news in the district. a person has died after a stabbing at a nightclub. this happened near the union market area. "news4's" megan mcgrath has more on what happened in that investigation. megan, what happened? >> reporter: well, aaron, this stabbing happened inside the leila lounge. you see there's a lot of wholesa wholesale. a man had been stabbed inside the club. the victim was taken to an area hospital but later pronounced dead. not a lot of information available at this point. no word on what led up to this

deadly stabbing. no word on any suspect descriptions or a vehicle that may have been used as a getaway car in that. all of that still part of the investigation. i should mention there is a camera right outsiedde the plac. certainly very early. there are a lot of questions yet. one man has been killed. today's metro board meeting will all about your safety. it has oversight of the transit satety. metro will also give an update on it. earlier this month they placed

concerned he may be without his medication. some university of maryland students are saying they're not taking enough of an action regarding race and comments of color. the comments are showing up on yik yak, a site a lot of students use. they're calling them derogatory names and some of endorse slavery. some students we talked with say it started last year. >> they held a town hall to talk about it and nothing changed. >> every student i come in contact with could have posted that and they could be saying the same thing about me. >> the school says it's difficult to identify who's making posts. they say the school is teaching racial sensitivity to faculty and students. today you can learn more about a massive recall involving those takata airbags and what's being done to protect you now. they'll host a public meeting today. it happens at 10:00 this morning at the department of transportation headquarters in

now but later this morning a republican led committee is going to grill the former secretary of state. the committee is hoping to get answers to key questions surrounding the violence in benghazi and the security breaches that failed to keep the americans safe. today's hearing could last as long as eight hours. we expect them to reference 8 through pages of new e-mails. they cofrom ambassador chris stevens, one of the four americans who died in the attack. >> where does the fault of this lie? it lies at the state department who only 36 hours ago have released some of ambassador stevens' e-mails. stevens asked for more security before he died. he didn't get it. clinton's team says those requests never reached her desk. many democrats see today's hearing as sort of a witch hunt as a way to battle.
