anticipating. 270 southbound. we still have that crash. it's off the shoulders. of course, we're getting typically slow there. we'll see you with travel times in ten minutes. we're following breaking news. a deadly incident inside a d.c. nightclub. police rushed to leila lounge this morning. that's where "news4's" megan mcgrath is live right now with new information on what happened last night. miggen, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, aaron, i talked to man. you see behind me the layla lounge. there are a lot of wholesale food businesses and the club is tucked in between some of those markets on moore street. a little while ago i spoke with a man who was here. he said he performed cpr on the

victim and applied pressure to the victim's wounds until police arrived and took over. he said he's only sorry he wasn't able to save the man's life. what happened is still unclear. about 1:15 people inside the layla lounge became aware of this man in distress. he was bleeding, apparently in and out of consciousness. he was taken to an area hospital, pronounced dead of apparent stab wounds. there are, however, surveillance cameras outside the club. no doubt investigators are going to be taking a look at the images that may have been captured on those cameras in their effort to locate the killer. anyone with information. ny witnesses, you're asked to come forward number lootout for a suspect at this point. no word of any arrests. back to you in the studio. >> thank you. >> new development this morning about the shooting of a police officer in new mexico.

police say he has an extensive heft of violent crime. they arrested him hours ago. they say he shot the officer after he was pulled over last night. the officer is in critical condition right now. the police have not released his name. today a 19-year-old man will be sentenced for assaulting another man on an escalator. that's not the only pleep elijah smith. back in april he punched a 69-year-old man and knocked him down in an eastern market. >> the board will be meeting to talk about the metro workers. metro will also give an update on the new switch to federal oversight. earlier this month transportation secretary anthony

it's 6:10. police say this man confessed to the shooting. he's in jail on a $650,000 cash

bond right now. according to police, the man shot at a truck two days ago and hit a 4-year-old girl in the head. the man was taken into custody yesterday. hes we identified as the suspect late last night. you can expect more recalls on the takata airbags and what's being done to protect you. the national highway safety transportation authority will be holding a meeting this morning. the airbags have been linked to eight deaths and more than 100 injuries. >> 6:11 your time right now. what you need to wear when you head out the door this morning. time for a check on the weather. first now we're following more from the live desk. an attack on a school. a swedish news agency is reporting that one person has died. we also just learn thad a masked man with a sword is behind this attack. this is video just in from outside of the school. looks like a lot of parents, a few students outside. this man with a sword wounded at least four students and one adult. we understand this is a preschool through high school. police apparently shot this man after the attack. no word on how that person is doing right now. we'll have more hopefully throughout the morning. back to you. a student i had come in

holding three firefighters hostage. someone called in about a brushfire. firefighters were called to the scene. when they arrived, the man brought out a gun. the "washington post" reporting there must be five police officers in place in upper marlboro. they'll not allow live ammunition. it will not -- it will require all firearms to have trigger locks and advocates say they're making it as hard as possible to have gun show in the county. before resting yesterday the pros kult showed this video. it comes from security cameras near the home of ruth an loganl.

things down. they still have that accident as well. more on this crash here. along 29 at new hampshire and travel time's in ten minutes. it is 6:32. we have breaking news in the district. police are investigating a deadly shooting. detectives responded to the call of a shooting in the 19 hunl block just before 10:00 last night. they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. >> we're following a developing story in virginia. two people shot near a university. one of them died overnight. this shooting happened a few blocks away from virginia state university. police there said they were not looking for a suspect right now. the second victim in the shooting is expected to survive. let's check in with the live

staying on top of breaking news in sweden where there's been an attack on a school. we have more information. we told you a swedish news agency said one person was killed by a masked man with a sword. we now found out it's a teacher who died. this is video from right outside the school. this is all breaking right now. the information is fluid. the police did say earlier four students were hurt. now they're saying it's two students seriously wounded by this man. police shot him. no word on any of the conditions of any of those wounded. this is recent. they say the school was too open and not secure enough. the school has 400 students preschool through high school. back to you. breaking news on the roads right now. again, in silver spring, we're talking about 29th shut down in new hampshire. some of the backups you can see
