hearing. how she plans to move forward. the campaign shake-up tonight for one of the top republicans in the race for the white house. we'll also hear from the family of a woman murdered in her maryland home. why they say police should have responded differently. >> we begin right now on the breaking news of the hurricane. they say it has to do with catastrophic damage including a report from the national hurricane center. first, chris is at he live desk. chris. >> we're getting new video into the newsroom from people who hunkered down and tried to ride out this storm. seeing a hurricane this big is one thing. you have to hear those winds to get the full scope of it. that's from a balcony in the

nearest big city, more than 50 miles where that form made landfall. patricia came up with winds of 165 miles an hour and we're already hearing flooding and landslides in some areas. and from an instagram account, mexican authorities have evacuated 15,000 people in hotels and put them in shelters. a lot of people thought puerta villar ta would take a live hit were happy to see the storm go south. >> it will quickly make its way through mexico. and patricia will be dimini diminishing. the most intense for the western hemisphere and over the last four hours it really has started weak weakening. the center of the storm system well inland as a category 4. it has weakened to 130 miles an

hour and picked up speed at 15 to 20 miles an hour and will continue to do so as it weakens by saturday afternoon, look at this, all the way into areas of northeast mexico approaching texas where it will meet up with another storm system. winds at 130 and drops in six hours time pebarely to hurrican status and then by tomorrow, winds down to 60 miles an hour. it's not the wind, the rain, could be flooding and mudslides and i'll show you the impact what's left of patricia could have onour area midweek. >> family and friends lit can e candles and prayed tonight for a woman killed inside her home in prince george's county. amanda jones was found stabbed to death and her daughter found her the next morning. family members wonder if her life could have been saved. >> friends and relatives remember 56-year-old amanda jones as a loving mother who

worked at a daycare center. they paid tribute to her at a candlelight vigil outside her house where police say she was murdered. >> what's going through my mind, it's unbelievable, hard to believe. >> reporter: audrey misses her cousin and grew up in d.c. >> i knew her growing up and she was one-of-a-kind. >> reporter: 911 calls give a glimpse of what led up to her being found dead. a man phoned monday night saying he was at home with her when she arrived home. me and her were talking on the phone as she was driving her car and then when she got to her house was going in the house i heard howling and screaming. >> reporter: police said they did a welfare check and knocked on the door and did not go inside, and in the morning they fouthey -- her daughter found her body. >> i think they could have done more than they did.

if there was a phone call, something was up. >> reporter: her boyfriend admitted to her murder. >> i will miss her dearly. >> reporter: tonight, her boyfriend is charged with murder and they're trying to find a motive in this case. we're working to find out what caused this bus accident in prince george's county, chopper 4 over the intersection of dice and brandybrandywine. five people including a stunt were taken to the hospital and all expected to be okay. the driver killed in this crash in takoma park was less than a mile from his home. 20-year-old was found in this car and two other passengers will survive. they're trying to figure out what caused him to veer off the

road. hilary clinton sat down with rachel maddow after her 11 hour hearing. she asked her what came out of that hearing saying the chair said her answers were similar to testimony she had already given. >> if there is anything new, which is unlikely after the eight prior investigations that have been held, we should know about it because the point is what are we going to do to both honor the people that we lost and try to make sure it doesn't happen again? >> clinton campaigned in d.c. and alex can dra today with two democrats dropping out of the race this week, political observers say clinton is starting to solidify support within her party. jeb bush was in virginia beach today defending his decision to make drastic spe spending cuts to his campaign. they announced a 40% reduction in payroll letting go of staff members at bush's miami
