bonnie's husband, david ever since. some marie has details on the arrest. >> reporter: good evening. that's right. we have confirmed suspect david black is in police custody charged with first-degree murder. police say he stabbed his estranged wife, bonnie black to death. you may recall she was a 42-year-old psychologist, found dead inside her home after a neighbor found her 3-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter dressed in pajamas wondering outside their mother's house in the street last april. david black, her estranged husband lived nearby around a few blocks away. they were scheduled to have a divorce proceeding that week of the murder. police said david black was cooperating in the investigation at the time. today, a grand jury heard evidence and testimony and indicted david black. we will post it on our wced a

bensen. >> reporter: jim, when we told people about this crime, told them there were surveillance pictures of the suspect, they said, please, show them on tv. police say the 84-year-old woman had just finished her shopping, was wheeling her grocery bags to her car about 7:00 sunday evening at the seay way on braddock road in fairfax. suddenly, a man came up behind her. he yanked her purse which caused theory fall to the ground. then he ran away with it. when police arrived, they called an ambulance for the victim. detectives got these images from a k-mart where the victim's credit card was used later that day. they'd like to talk to this man. shoppers at the safe way were shaking their head. >> it's a terrible thing. i hope they catch him. is she going to be all right? >> reporter: the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries. if you've seen that man, call fairfax county police. live in fairfax, jackie bensen.

leader of the group sons of confederate veterans is going to court to stop the recall of confederate license plates in virginia. a federal judge already ruled virginia can outlaw plates with the confederate battle flag. the sons of confederate veterans say they shouldn't be forced to return their old plates to the dmv of the 1600 issued. so far only about 200 have come back. new parents will no longer be getting free gift bags from formula makers when they leave maryland hospitals. they have banned all hospitals from giving them out that include kowps acoupe coupons ant will encourage breastfeeding and not endorse the formula. he's handled a large

long blimp broke free. from aberdeen, maryland and crashed 125 miles north in pennsylvania. no word why the blimp broke away. right now, federal transportation officials are trying to figure out why the engine on this boeing 767 burst into frames injuring near -- flames injuring nearly two dozen people. 101 passengers and crew members were packed on the dynamics airways flight bound for venezuela. they heard screaming, saw flames and ran toward the front of the plane. the pilot reported an engine fire. those on board another plane say fuel was leaking from the plane right before the flight began. passengers had to jump on chutes to slide onto the run way. >> we got out and started running to the grass as far away from there as possible. >> rescue crews say most of the victims were injured during the evacuation, not by the fire. right now senators are

pulling an all nighter to get a major budget deal passed. because of procedural rules the senate can't vote on the house-passed measure until 1:00 in the morning. it is expected to pass and would avert a shut down or default until after the presidential election. senator marco rubio is expected to take part in that vote. presidential candidate jeb bush criticized rubio for missing votes this year. paul ryan was officially sworn in today and immediately promised a fresh start after turmoil within his own party led to his election. ryan said he is not out to settle any scores and wants to start with a clean slate. >> we have tough issues. we will take them head on. we are going to do all we can do so working people get their strength back and people not working get their lives back. no more favors for the few, opportunity for all. that is our motto.
