this out of texas. this morning, the search for two missing in this massive flooding continues. we want to show you this video. two people already reported dead. teams from the national weather service are planning to investigate whether tornadoes actually touched down in central and southwest regions of the state. the storms and suspected tornadoes are remnants of hurricane patricia. we want to get to tom kierein for more on our forecast. as we look at those images, a rough setting down there. >> yes. they had over 30-mile traffic backup on interstate 35 between austin and dallas yesterday afternoon. because they got over 14 inches of rain, i-35 was under several feet of water in texas right now, still getting hammered with heavy rain which has now pushed into the eastern part of the state around houston. for us we're off to a clear and dry start this morning. don't have any rain anywhere in our vicinity. we are cold, too. in fact we have patchy, dense fog here right over the potomac river, kind of creepy halloween fog crawling along the potomac

river. temperatures are so cold that water is evaporating, justment mid-30s, northern western suburbs, shenandoah valley, out of the mountains of western merrill and west virginia. right around the metroç area, it's only 40 degrees. a look at your chilly halloween forecast and next chance of rain that's coming in a few minutes. >> tom, thank you. now to a developing story. a deadly halloween eve near the tidal basin. that's where a pedestrian was hit and killed last night, maine avenue was shut down near the 14th street bridge. it's now bac open. take a look at the scene. we have video for you. u.s. park police are investigating the fatal car crash. it happened just before 8:30 last night. we're told the victim was struck in the westbound lanes of maine avenue. the vick was pronounced dead at the hospital. >> it was kind of a fireball but it wasn't like a whoosh thin that went up. it went out. >> two two ts badly burned during a high school chemistry class fire.

those students are recovering and in fair condition this morning. three other students from woodson high school in fairfax county are out of the hospital after what was an unnerving classroom experiment. the chemistry teacher was also hurt on the demonstration of the different colors of fire. the teacher was treated at the school. the staff was able to quickly get hundreds of students out of that building. officials used ventilation fans to clear the air inside. how the school handled the incident and the concern from both parents and students. >> reporter: this was not the way students at woodson high school expected to start their day. >> i was in my english class when i heard it. i thought it was a normal fire drill. >> reporter: it was far from a normal fire drill. richard bauer says students evacuated after a fire started inside a first floor chemistry classroom. >> and during that instruction,

of demonstrating the different types of colors of fire, several students, unfortunately, were burned. >> reporter: two students were air lifted to burn centers at two different hospitals. three taken to inova fairfax by ambulance. >> the fire sprinkler did activate and did exactly what it was supposed to do, which is hold the fire in check. >> reporter: firefighters extinguished the blaze which was contained to one classroom while parents say they were notified that something happened at school. >> they sent an e-mail to the parents from the school saying that there was an emergency. >> when i first came over here, there was police cars. they wouldn't let me go inside. >> reporter: it was just before 1:00 when students were dismissed but many of them left with the thought of their injured classmates on their mind. >> i hope they all turn out fine and survive. >> megan fitzgerald with that report right there. fairfax county superintendent dr. karen garza put out a statement last night, saying in part, quote, fcps is truly like

a family and as such we are all deeply concerned about what happened. i know this incident has affected the woodson community and as a district, we will provide as much support and assistance for students, staff members and families as needed. >> developing right now in romania, at least 27 people are dead after a nightclub fire there. and another 88 recovering in the hospital. many of the survivors must now have plastic surgery. a heavy metal band' pyrotechnics show sparked that deadly fire. officials initially said it was an explosion. dozens of people rushed to donate blood. ç montgomery county police say they caught the guys breaking into homes in chevy chase. and in many cases, officers say those suspected burglars broke a sliding glass door or a basement window. during the day. the crooks left their fingerprints according to police and investigators say they matched it to 25-year-old eric outlaw. on thursday, police say they watch as outlaw and 26-year-old

according to several reports, they walked out of the class and gathered to express their views on deputy ben fields firing. he was fired a few days after this incident. apparently not all students were pleased with the decision. students more t-shirt that read free fields and #bringbackfield. a california teacher is behind bars accused of having a sexual relationship with two high school students. lindsay himmelspack described those relationships as, quote, brief in nature. authorities say the p.e. teacher and photos also exchanged nude photos this happened over summer break and was reported by an anonymous caller. officers arrested himmelspack at the school. she taught there for ten years and is now on paid administrative leave. jurors in the charles severance case have the weekend off. they asked the judge early yesterday morning that they be

dismissed at 4:30, seeming to indicate they knew there would be no verdict this weekend. the three high profile alexandria killings are complex. there's no forensic proof. prosecutors relied heavily on a mountain of other evidence. they along with severance's lawyers asked the jury to take their time and diligently go through nearly 100 witness testimonies and another 100 pieces of evidence, including 2,100 pages of severance's own writing. it seems jurors took that request fight seriously as they have been debilitating for 12 hours over the past two days. we do know the jury will be back on monday morning. if they don't reach a verdict by the end of the day monday, they won't reach one until at least midweek. that's because tuesday court is closed for elections. assuming they find severance guilty of any of the ten counts he faces, their work is far from over. they'll then have to sentence him. you have to see the awesome homemade outfits a mom from vienna has been showing off. julie mudrick has been making costumes from stuff around the
