the driver has not been seriously hurt. right now no charges have been filed. two students were shot early yesterday morning. 19-year-old anthony white jr. was killed. the other student is out of the hospital. his name is not being released. another terrifying shooting this halloween weekend, this time in colorado springs. witnesses say a man with a rifle killed three people before police shot and killed him. one of the victims was riding a bicycle down the street. the other two were sitting on their front porch. police are looking for a motive in saturday morning's attack. this morning images captured by the navy's side-scanning sonar appear to show the 790-foot cargo ship on the bottom of the caribbean sea. that's according to the ntsb. remote-operated subs will divide almost three miles down to confirm the findings -- or dive, i should say. 33 crew members died when the

disabled ship vanished in hurricane joaquin. all right. something to think about before you use or choose chipotle for lunch today. 43 of the chains' locations are closed this morning because of an e. coli outbreak. right now it is contained to restaurants in oregon and washington state. as of friday, more than 20 people were sick. health officials say more people could get sick because the infection takes up to ten days to sink in. officials believe a fresh food product is behind the outbreak but they say it may be impossible to pinpoint which one. american pharoah is on his way to do what all championship horses do, make more horses, just like that. >> wow. >> he's headed to a stud farm today. the official triple crown winner headed off this weekend.

their plan is to send a questionnaire to the network and they'll decide whether or not to boycott based on the answers. representatives for ben carson leading the charge here. they say they've got some leverage because candidates like carson and trump are ladying the way. they're asking for equal time and they want approval over the graphics. they say jeb bush's graphic didn't point out he was the governor of florida. and they're demanding more substantive questions. ted cruz says maybe they need to have republican moderators, something we also heard from donald trump last week. whether they'll get all these demands, we have no idea. we know the republican party which was excluded from this meeting has decided to change its official in charge of the debates in hopes of trying to apiece these candidates. eun?

welcome back. new video on a rescue effort to save a whale who was tangled in a fishing line. another group tried to free the whale but was unsuccessful. a group from seaworld came out and cut the line. not completely gone but enough that the whale has more freedom of movement. rescuers say on average there are 12 rescues like that every year. there have been four times more. children love a snow day but parents wonder what they could be missing in the school classroom. today fairfax will be launching a snow dvirtual snow day even t there's no snow. they'll attend online with 50 minutes ending before lunch. officials say this could be used

>> antoine sullivan was a d.c. protective services officer. police say he used his service weapon during the crime. happening ahead, a 17-year-old will appear in court on charges he murdered another teenager in loudoun county. the 17-year-old was shot and killed while walking to a bus stop back in september. police are not releasing his name because he's under age. they will try him as an adult. two others are being charged. miranda moved from el salvador to escape the violence there. it's 5:47. the episcopal church has a new leader. curry takes over from katherine jeff ford shorey whos with the first woman to hold that position. it comes as the episcopal church deals with fewer members.

veterans across the country are not getting the care they need at veterans hospitals and the problem isn't getting any better. a new analysis found one in six were found. 59 of 187 physicians jobs are vacant now, leading to the longest wait times in the country. the v.a. says the big problem is attracting officials to smaller towns. the need for veteran care is rapidly growing as vietnam vets retire. a quick alert that may affect your commute this week. starting today, the national park service will close 15 street northwest between constitution avenue and madison drive and madison drive and 14th

"weather & traffic on the 1s." eun? >> thank you, melissa. a study about car safety. it's sparking new questions for parents. however, they say it shouldn't change what you do. those experts say facing an infant's car seat backward is still the safest way to buckle a child in. they say children can suffer a severe head injury that way if you're hit from behind. however, a national traffic safety administration spokesman said only 9% of children are hurt in rear end crashes. front end crashes account for 43% of injuries to children. side crashes account for 33% of those injuries. well, halloween in behind us and retailers are not waefgt any time letting you recover from your sugar overdose. they're moving on all the way to christmas starting today.
