that breaking news tonight in silver spring, a father shot inside his home, his young son in the house at the time. >> still no one in custody at this hour. it happened on klethe beltway.

jackie has been talking to police tonight and neighbors. jackie, what are you hearing? >> reporter: jim, this is a puzzling troubling incident in a neighborhood that sees very little crime of any kind. about 6:30 this evening, police got a 911 call from a man who said he had just been shot. when officers arrived at the home on clement road, they found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. he was not alone in this house. >> the victim was there and his child was there. >> reporter: ages? >> the victim, i believe, is 47 and i believe the child is either 6 or 8. >> reporter: officers were able to get some information from the victim before he was taken into surgery. >> from what we know, there was a knock at the door. the suspects were at the front door, there seems to have been some type of conversation. at that point we don't know what happened after that. we haven't been able to talk to

the victim, he's in surgery. >> reporter: crime scene anal t analysts have seized potential evidence from the home and they believe he may have had a car waiting nearby. >> reporter: an internet search showed the victim ran a home-based therapeutic massage business. his son is with friends tonight and was not physically harmed. >> thanks, jackie. turning to our weather now, we could be in for a record setting day tomorrow as we begin our weekend. first, we have to get through the fog. >> yes. you can see it at columbia pike. visibility less than a quarter of a mile. we have a dense advisory in effect. let's take a look and show you visibility first. give yourself a lot of extra time on those roads and make sure you use those low beams. about a quarter mile around manassas, .3, towards annapolis,

baltimore, no problems in fredericksburg. we will see this fluctuate through the night. the biggest areas of concern is towards portions of maryland, parts of montgomery county, pris george's county and baltimore and heads-up for a chance of fog through early tomorrow morning. we will talk more about that and the record high temperatures and big temperature drop on saturday in my forecast. >> doug, thank you. we still don't know what caused the crash that killed two teenage brothers on their way to spotsylvania high school. we do know it was foggy at the time. we do know it was less than a mile. they died when their jeep hit a tree on lady smith road. shomari went back to the scene. >> reporter: good evening. i'm at the accident scene where these two brothers died and their car slid into a tree and

makeshift memorial and two crosses and balloon and saying you are so special. and you are not alone. they would not allow us on the property. 18-year-old ian brown and his 15-year-old brother, jalen, were driving to spotsylvania high school around 7:15 this morning. the richmond times dispatch says the mother is a teacher at spotsylvania high just two minutes behind her sons on the road and drove up on the accident scene. the jeep liberty ran off about one mile west of county church road. they died on the scene. at this scene, the cause of the crash is under investigation. the weather conditions were foggy this morning, worth mentioning the brothers were wearing their seat belts. in spotsylvania, i'm shomari stone. in takoma park, a major

crash sent seven people to the hospital, four children teenages of 4 and 10, all four in critical condition. police tell us one of the cars drove off the road and hit that tree. the three adults hurt are going to be okay. >> it's the third report in just under a month of a voyeur on campus at the university of maryland. this time a student says hekp a cell phone recording him inside a men's bathroom. the song was removed and whoever it was took off. two similar incidents in women's restrooms last month. the school told the "washington post" they do not believe these cases are related. >> here at the live desk, we're hearing new revelations about the police officer who staged his own suicide. he tried to hire a hit man. we're getting reaction from the woman who was the target. >> it's a very scary thought that an officer who is sworn to uphold the law would even attempt to think to do something

like that to an administrator. >> ann marrin is this village administrator for fox lake, illinois. a few months before he killed himself,let gliniewicz tried to set up a hit on a high ranking gang member and wanted to kill her because she was looking into the books he was embezzling her. and he said he could transplant something to derail the audit. and he shot himself but set it up to look like he died in the line of duty. it is far from over and they're looking into evidence that could implicate his wife and son. >> chris lawrence. homeland security is considering new screening procedures for u.s. bound flights that originate overseas after the downing of the jet over egypt. no u.s. airline flights over the peninsula but because it is

we've seen pictures from this explosion before but not quite like this. nasa put out new still photos from the disastrous rocket launch last october with a virginia based aerospace orbi toll sciences owned the unmanned rocket. no one was hurt but caused $15 million in damage. the launchpad was unusable for months. it is back in operation now and provided a re-supply mission for the international space station. one man, seven days, all 50 states, al roker hits the road for roker two. he plans to hit all 50 states for one week starting tomorrow. last year, he completed a marathon 34 hour weather forecast becoming a certified guinness world record holder raising 70,00$70,000 for the us this year it's for feeding
