7:00 tonight. chris. >> there were hundreds of passengers on the flight to dallas and now they're all on the ground at canada. someone called in a bomb threat which forced air france to divert their flight to nova scotia. it happened 45 minutes ago and landed at the terminal. another threat was sent to a jumbo jet carrying 400 passen r passengepassenger es to paris are in salt lake city. the u.s. jets did not scramble flights in either case and so far nothing has been found. >> thank you. we're also getting new information about the search for terror suspects and the effort to keep you safe at home. >> added security at tonight's

have been canceled. an e-mail cancelled today's visit to the holocaust museum. >> you can't take anything for granted. when there are people publishin that type of agenda, after seeing that video we have to take all measures seriously. >> reporter: new security measures for the college georgetown game and scanned using surveillance equipment and no back bags allowed and all smaller bags searched. throughout the district most of this enhanced security is something you can't see but in some cases you can. thank you. the white house is telling governors across the country the screening process for refugees entering the u.s. is very thorough. during a conference call to

governors tonight, officials stressed the process can take as long as two years. maryland governor larry hogan tonight and more than 20 other governors have expressed concerns about terrorists sne sneaking into the country disguised as refugees. house speaker paul ryan says the house will vote on a bill to stop admitting syrian refugees later this week. tonight, on a summit to the f philippin philippines. the president slammed asking for an end to the program. >> these are the same folks s saying they're so tough, talking to putin or staring down isis or using additional rhetoric will solve the problems out there but apparently they're scared of widows and orphans coming into the united states of america. >> and he also called it a putin recruitment because it makes this a religious war rather than a war against terrorism. >> the fbi is in overdrive trying to figure out if any terror suspects are planning

attacks in the u.s. it starts with the airlines and terror watch list. agents are paying special attention to 800 names on that list linked to france and syria. a few of those people have traveled to the united states. there's no indication they were plotting attacks. security agents have also intensified airport screenings of all inbound flights from france. the fbi is intensifying surveillance on about 50 known terror suspects already in the u.s. at the live desk, a member of the senate intelligence committee says four of the terrorists who attacked paris were known to u.s. officials. one source tells nbc news that is a bit miss leading. the four men's names were in the master database of terror suspects but nothing about them stood out and no indication they were an immediate threat. all of europe is looking for not one but two fuguetives suspected of taking part in the attacks.

seven died on friday either setting off their suicide vests or police killing them. now, it looks like nine people were part of the plan. officials think the man who organized the attack is still somewhere in syria. >> get ready, folks, big changes heading our way over the next few days. doug is even talking about a weather alert day. when are we talking about? >> that weather alert is coming thursday morning. potential for heavy rain. what we will be seeing overnight tonight and tomorrow is light rain. really, a nuisance type rain. we don't have any out there but starting to develop. we have clouds moved in and will continue to see earl flow giving us showers tomorrow. look how heavy it is. tremendous amounts of rain from the west and cold on the backside. we will be track, your headlines, tracking the rain, a little tomorrow and a lot thursday. that's our weather alert day and much colder and then serious

weekend wind chills and serious numbers and we'll talk how cold things will get in my forecast. >> thank you, doug. new tonight, another one of our elected leaders will be facing a cancer fight. fairfax mayor silver thorn announced he has cancer of the neck. he decided to go public partly because of governor hogan's decision to do the same. he said the cancer has not spread and his prognosis is good. classes at washington college are cancelled again tomorrow for a third straight day, police searching for a potentially dangerous student. the sophomore took a gun from his parents' house over the weekend and disappeared. neen-year-old jacob marberger was a leader in a student government society and member of a fraternity. things began to unravel for him, this fall, when he got into trouble for allegedly having an

antique handgun in his frat house and showing it to other students. >> he had an upcoming northern board case and got kicked out of his fraternity and had to rehouse into another facility. on that sunday night before he left, he was confronted by the student government association about his affiliation with them. >> the college is asking students to leave campus completely and go home. members of the community are offering housing for those who can't go home like international students. a decision when to reopen will be considered on a day-to-day basis. tonight, police are looking for a man who harassed a man through an apartment window and then flashed him. the victim didn't just sit there. in gaithersburg with a clue police want you to see. shomari. >> reporter: doreen, tonight people in this community are concerned. so many times we report on stories like this and hear about the suspect and there are composite sketches but this time the good thinking victim was

able to actually snap a cell phone picture of the suspect. let's roll some video of him. here is the suspect's picture. the victim was able to snap it october 9th around 4:00 in the evening. police say the suspect walked up to the man's sliding glass door and asked him for his phone number and then suddenly made sexual gestures and exposed himself. this happened on the 7200 block of whispering oaks way in gaithersburg. the man walked away and police want your help finding him. detectives urge any with information, if you have information about this case, if you recognize the man, we will put on our nbc washington app his photo, please call montgomery county police. live here in gaithersburg, shomari stone, news4. 48 hours from now, metro expects to officially have its new leader in place. the transit agency is expected to announce its new general manager thursday. all that's left is a formal vote and final contract needs to be

♪ ♪ at cal state long beach today, hundreds of people got together remember 23-year-old noehemi gonzalez. she was among those killed in the terror attacks. and they zribz gonzalez as a student with big dreams, a good person admired by so many. >> before i knew her i would see her and just wanted to be her friend. she was so cool and that's the spirit she brought out.

she brought life with her everywhere she went. >> she was 1 of 129 people killed friday in the attack. 350 others hurt, many critically. >> there's a lot of public aw e awareness now about concussions and how it can impact our kids and recovery can take months and even longer some times. next, a local high schooler who went down that long road showed us the tool he's developing to help others get the fastest diagnosis and treatment for concussi concussions. >> probably six or seven months. >> eric is a 17-year-old senior at urbana high school. he was in 8th grade, when one moment at a basketball practice changed his life. >> i was coming down from a rebound and as i was coming down, another kid was jumping up and his nose slammed me in the back of the head. >> eric was starting to slur his words. >> eric's parents realized he

might have a concussion and after taking him to children's medical center they learned they were right. they had no idea what lay ahead. that concussion took eric out of school for nearly five months. >> serious serious headaches. >> never ending worry, is this day going to be better? is this day going to be better? >> if yyou don't want to see yo child going through that kind of agony. >> a full year later eric was back in school full-time. the early diagnosis was key to his recovery. >> even though he had a full recovery, the early diagnosis did help him. >> the doctor treated him and now she's impressed her young patient is creating a new tool to help others fight concussi concussions. this is a mike soaiis a mikcros is completing in his science

class. he's using it to measure motor schools and coordination to measure your hands and feet and how well a patient can respond to audio and visual 'cuse. >> blue. orange. >> reporter: the movements may seem simple but for someone with a concussion they could be hard or impossible. >> i couldn't do this kind of thing or touch my nose. >> reporter: eric hopes access to this tool on the sidelines or at home can help adults identify concussion symptoms for student athle athletes. >> his doctors are helping him and saying putting the test on a video platform could be perfect for young patients. >> i think it makes a lot of sense to use a tool they're familiar with in the first place. >> reporter: eric will eventu eventually need fda approval to have his test approved as a clinical tool and plans to go through that process. >> it's more than a project to me, a way i can give back

interstate 70, it is moving east bringing a tornado threat to parts of the south. >> a lot of strong weather going on across the country. one of those storms is moving our way, the one that hit colorado first and will brings heavy rain. that's our weather alert day thursday and behind it, it brings in pretty cold air, the coldest this season. no chance of cold air tonight. the reason is at the bottom of the screen there. winds out of the east at 6 miles an hour, that comes right off the ocean. it means just about everybody will see temperatures slar to t -- similar to the airport. 52 degrees, 43 degrees at cambridge. do not expect these numbers to fall all that much. a few degrees, that's it. but we will be seeing a chance

for drizzle early tomorrow morning and you will need the umbrella when stepping out. you can see the east wind pushing in from the ocean. the rain, little rock, towards chicago and strong storms in portions of mississippi valley. the main storm system, look at the spin of 10 inches of snow in parts of oklahoma and the denver region and moving our way. what are we going to see out of it? just plain rain but it does get heavy. not tomorrow. tomorrow, little umbrella day. clouds at 6:00. look at 9:30, notice the showers and sprinkles and 1:00, a few hours of drizzle activity and 6:00, scattered. not all day rain but tomorrow will be a rather damp day. the good thing is at leafs it's on the mild side. then we get into the rain and why we're calling it a weather alert day. doesn't mean it's a monster storm. it will have a big impact on

your day. you can track the rain on the radar before you head out. 5:00 a.m., just about everybody is seeing that rain. by 8:00, it is everywhere and moderate. i expect it to last through 11:00 and 12:00 and thursday and behind it we have cooler air moving friday and much cooler air for the weekend. rain, thursday, that's what you can expect. heavy rain legearly. a few showers and in the afternoon, maybe more in some locations, winds gusting up to 35 miles an hour. thursday not a very nice day at all. tomorrow, not all bad. shower activity but temperatures in the mid-60s in most part. mild 63 in d.c. and 68 in fredericksburg and 68 winchester. cooler to the blue ridge. look how the temperatures go down. 57 on friday. 53 on saturday.

what a game! >> a great game in college park. a shame these two teams don't play every single year. we need this. 2008 was the last time maryland and georgetown faced each other. for local college basketball fans, tonight's game was definitely worth the wait. the two programs did not disappoint. terps and hoyas went toe-to-toe from start to finish and maryland held off the upset, a friendly game in college park.

check this one out, a great crowd, fans were pumped up, ready to go. third seeded maryland got off to a slow start. georgetown, they came out strong but how about the terps here. the steal and throws it up to his teammate, carter, jr. for the flush. tied, 33 half time in this game. second half, georgetown up to the senior bradley hayes making this shot and copeland cleans up this mess, 13 points for the sophomore. hoyas up by 4. a few minutes later, georgetown trying to pull way. the freshman, marcus dickerson had himself a game. 13 points, the local kid from bowie high school. hoyas up 5 at the half. doing what star players do, knocking down big-time shots, the xfinity center going crazy. tied at 61 later on. that was a big-time three-poi

three-pointer and, yes, maryland, they go on to win this game by a final score of 75-71. the great thing about this game tonight in college park, we're going to see it again next year between these two teams. hopefully after that we can get to sign a long term deal. let's move on to talk about the pros for a moment. wizards have looked like a completely different team since randy wittman called this group soft last week. since those comments, two impressive wins for the wiz kids. that's otto porter, jr. having an outstanding season for wizards so far this year. second quarter, wiz down one, 19 points for him. wizards lead it by a point. later in the quarter, the fast break, gives it up to jared dudley against his former team, 14 points off the bench.
