the driver made a left turn, was hit by an oncoming car and left the scene. the driver died. if you saw anything in the area, police would like to hear from you. a tribute to a maryland couple who loves to bike together. bike clubs remembered the couple with a bike ride yesterday. a woman was drunk when she hit the couple as they rode their tandem bike on halloween. yesterday they rode to the site where they were killed and placed a bike there with the couple's name at the site. hundreds of guns are off the stree streets this morning because of the gift card for guns event in prince georges county. people brought close to 300 guns and in return they zeed gift cards. this is all part of the police department's mission to cut back on gun violence. the redskins were not able to beat the panthers to break their undefeated record and a

>> reporter: it's going to be a difficult day for this school community, a difficult week for all the folks out here. police have not released the name of the 15-year-old driver who died after he sped away from a traffic stop. his passenger is in the hospital this morning. now there is a lot we are still working to find out. here's what we know at this point. the team was driving without his headlights near east leech road. that's near sterling. that's when a sheriffs deputy spotted the car, tried to pull them over but the driver apparently drove off. when the deputy continued to try to make this traffic stop, the driver sped off going at a high rate of speed and crashed. and a witness told us the young driver could not get out of the fiery wreck. >> police officers almost tore

the door off the passenger side and drug her out because of the fire. they kept yelling at the young man in the car, sir, you have to get out, the car is on fire. he never answered them back. >> reporter: as we told you, the driver and the passenger both 15 years of age. now the minimum age to get a driver's license is 16 years and 3 months. you have to be at least 15 years old and 6 months to get. learner's permit but you still need an adult seated beside you. that's the latest live from outside louden valley high school. back to you. >> thank you. a pilot had to make a crash landing when his plane lost power. he was taking off from fort meade headed to florida. the pilot tried to get back to the airport and crash landed in a grassy area just off the

runway. he was not hurt. it's been one year since the death of a 12-year-old. yesterday dozens gathered at the cleveland wreck center where he was shot to death by police. the officer saw him holding a pellet gun but thought it was a real gun. two reports found the officer shooting was justified. the family urged the group to pick a side in the debate over police violence. >> don't take lightly the job of a police to come in a wreck center and just started to shoot. it's unforgivable for us. >> the family is also continuing to demand for the cleveland police officers involved in the shooting to be indicted immediately. i watched when the world trade center came tumbling down. i watched in jersey city, new jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were

cheering as that building was coming down. >> more controversial talk from one of the republican candidates for president. donald trump justified his plan for surveillance of syrian refugees with claims that people cheered as the twin towers collapsed on 9/11. the mayor of jersey city tweeted trump's claims were absurd. trump is one of the presidential hopefuls urging president obama to take tougher actions against isis. tracie potts joins us with that at 5:30. a survey shows two gubernatorial candidates are virtually unknown to voters. the poll found more than half of virginia's polls didn't know much about ed gillespigillespie. 43% of those surveyed felt the state was going in the wrong direction. the next virginia governor's election is in 2017. it was a comfortable win for

argentina's new president. he won the 53% of the vote in the first ever run off election. e he promised voters business-friendly reform to spur investment in the economy. in news for your health, adhd drugs may make it harder for kids to sleep. new research from the university of nebraska found children who took the drug tended to have trouble falling and staying asleep. it goes against past studies saying it improved sleep. the timing of doses and having a nightly bedtime routine may help. that's advice we so often hear from kids and adults, sticking to a normal routine. >> to actually do it is really tough. checking e-mails, doing one more thing. it will be hard to get out of bed if you were tucked under the covers.
