stay with news 4 as the story continues to develop. i'm angie goff at the live desk. i'm chuck bell. the storm center this morning with your weather headlines. another cold start, but nowhere near as much of a windchill to deal with today compared to yesterday. loving the sunshine, and travel trouble mainly out well to our west for thanksgiving travel. right now, though, it is a cold start, 27 in can culpepper. 36 in winchester. 36 downtown. cold start this morning near the freezing mark. mid-40s by 7:00 this evening and another day in the 30s tomorrow morning. i'm optimistic thanksgiving day is looking good. mild, sunshine, stuffed with temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. start looking at the weekend a couple more minutes from now. for now, traffic time. here is melissa. >> looking good on 270. don't have any worries here this morning. no road work to worry about either. top of the beltway looking good

as well. taking a look here, bw parkway, 95 here, everything here into and out of town is moving along just fine. wouldn't it be nice if it stayed that way for everybody. beltway at branch avenue, we're okay right there, 66 looks good. 95 looks good. you're at speed here this morning. we had this problem in mcclain. one lane getting by in each direction. right side getting by. that water main break. this means delays to and from bw parkway while this sticks around. i'll see you in ten minutes. a suspect in the paris attacks appears in court. as you look at video of an earlier raid, it was during this raid that he was taken into custody, the only person in france facing potential terrorism charges after he said that he sheltered two people from belgium. he claims he didn't know they were terrorists. he'll either be charged or released. we'll keep you posted. back to you. thank you, angie.

returning to the terror attack in paris now, an important meeting at the white house. president obama will meet with francois hollande and they plan to talk about taking out isis so far we're seeing different responses to the november 13th attack. look for an alert on your nbc washington app later this morning. two presidents will hold a joint news conference after their meeting and we'll bring it to you on air and online. to the latest on the investigation, french please discovered an explosive vest on the southern edge of paris. they say it contains the same type of explosive used in the vest in the terror attacks earlier this month that killed 130 people. brussels will stay on high alert for at least another week. belgium's prime minister says authorities are looking for whom ever may have ditched that explosive vest. here at home, the state department is warning americans about the possible risk of travel after increased terror threats. a developing story now in minneapolis. five protesters are recovering from a shooting overnight. these are pictures from the

scene, take a look, we showed you the protests before. black lives matter demonstrators are demanding more transparency in jamar clark's death. he's a black man who was killed in police custody. police are searching for three white male suspects for the overnight shooting. 5:03. today, these protesters are planning a march outside of police headquarters. then there is a concert in jamar clark's memory. the naacp is holding that concert outside of a police precinct in minneapolis this afternoon. at least one person is dead in a double shooting in southeast d.c. this happened about 9:45 last night near twinning square. the two were shot near pennsylvania and minnesota avenue. d.c. police say the other victim is conscious and breathing. police reopened pennsylvania avenue in that area in the last hour. molette green is following the developments here. we'll check in with her in ten minutes. police are waiting on toxicology tests to see if a man was drunk when he was run over by a metro train. blue and silver line service back to normal now at the capitol heights metro station.

metro says the man was by himself walking down the platform about 7:30 last night. surveillance cameras may show him carrying a container when he fell. the victim's name has not been released. also in metro news this morning, may soon see some improvements to your metro ride. the riders union in our area will hold a forum with metro's new leader. this after a productive meeting with paul last week. weedfeld is invited to address union members and get feedback from metro users. a union is pushing for improvements in service. that meeting will be held next month. looking live at reagan national airport now. or not. going to tell you about some airport workers who are planning a row test on one of the busiest travel days of the year. they plan to fast in protest of what they call unfair low pay and illegal treatment by their employers. some will wear purple clothing that says ask me why i'm fasting. about 300 airline workers here are joining others from across the country to fast from today until tomorrow. 5:05.

a 1-year-old girl in the district received a life saving gift on her first birthday. a living don't weaor was practia stranger. it was a daughter of a family friend who made the donation after testing positive as a match. 30-year-old diana rotter heard about the baby's need for the life saving liver transplant and stepped up. >> i'm glad everything worked out okay. heading to the surgery, i wasn't worried so much about my side of it exactly so much as am i going to be able to help her. >> natalia is still in the hospital, but doing well. her family says this will be the best thanksgiving ever. what a wonderful -- back there. >> absolutely. we continue to follow developing story in texas. four people are dead after a helicopter crashed in ft. hood. we're learning about what the crew members were doing at the time of the crash. we'll bring you an update on that. also this morning, we're getting our first look at the moments after a shooting that killed a maryland native. the body camera footage coming

morning. you can take a lock here at several patrol cars that are on the scene here, in this area along pennsylvania avenue at 25th street. police set up all around this gas station, shutting it down. there is also some police tape across the street there in an alley way, right next to a home there. d.c. police confirming this is a homicide. one adult man shot in the 2500 block of pennsylvania avenue, that person died. another man shot in the 2500 block of minnesota avenue, right where i'm standing. he was conscious and breathing when he was on his way to the hospital. this shooting happened 9:45 last night. there was a lookout for a man wearing a black and white shirt with a pink scarf covering his face. but no motive at this point. we're staying on top of this developing story throughout the morning. back to you.

that is a northern arizona university freshman. moments after he was questioned by police for opening fire on four other students. steven jones told police he was the shooter there. one of those students colin bro is from annapolis. he died last month. newly released body cam video shows jones talking with officers begging them to check on the victims. jones said he and to friends were walking past a frat house when they were surrounded by about 12 people. he said he started shooting when two men yelled they were going to kill him and charged at him. the police report said jones had several injuries on his head, back, chest, arms and legs. it is now 5:16. a man with a history of sex charges is expected in court. fairfax county police say michael edwards took pictures of women up their skirts at grocery stores back in august.

he's also accused of exposing himself to a woman. edwards received probation in 2011 after admitting to spraying several women with bodily fluids. also today, pretrial hearing for one of the baltimore police officers who faces charges in the death of freddie gray. william porter, the man in the upper left-hand corner here in this photo, is expected in court this morning. he and five other officers face charges in the 25-year-old's death. gray died from a spinal injury he received in police custody back in april. his death sparked protests and violent riots. veterinarians checking out dozens of puppies seized from a northern virginia pet store. animal control officers in fairfax county say they received several complaints about the health of dogs at the dreamy puppy store in chantilly. police are investigating whether the animals were too young to be sold, about 50 puppies were taken from the store yesterday. so far no charges have been filed. in news for your health now, a warning for parents this

morning, researchers in st. louis say crib bumpers may be dangerous for infants. the consumer products safety commission had previously reported that there were 48 deaths attribute ed to bumpers between 1985 and 2012. researchers say that number is much higher. after reviewing the data, they found another 32 bumper related deaths. exercising during pregnancy is a must. the american college of open e obstetricians and gynecologists says it helps to introduce many complications. it released new guidelines on obesity and exercising during pregnancy. pregnant women more obese are more likely to develop heart problems, diabetes and blood clots. pilates, modified yoga and light running may help. tough to do when you're caring a big old baby in your belly. >> that's what i hear. if you have dominion, you may be getting some money back.

the company will refund customers because it took in too much money over the last few years. you can expect to get four or five dollars back, spread out, over the next six months. the refunds will cost dominion virginia power just under $20 million. this is a story getting national attention. a spider invasion in memphis. i'm afraid to look. experts say the small spiders probably were there for a while, but just went unnoticed. residents are hoping the city will do something, maybe spray them to get rid of all of the spiders. these are all spider webs, i think. apparently the spiders are harmless, but i am, like, feeling all creepy and itchy looking at the video. >> i have stopped my car and pulled over -- >> because there is a spider in your car. >> spider and bees. >> bees, they'll sting you. it hurts. >> never stung by a bee. but i'm just saying, i don't play that game. 20 minutes now after 5:00. and it is cold outside yet again this morning. 38 degrees outside our studios.

pastor's wife. police in indianapolis charged two men with murder on monday. officers say an 18-year-old shot amanda blackburn three times, once in the back of the head. court paperwork says the men entered blackburn's home after robbing two other homes on november 10th. they say the suspects did not hurt a 15-month-old boy, asleep in his crib upstairs. later today, prosecutors may charge a chicago police officer with murder. county prosecutors say that officer jason van dyke shot and killed 17-year-old la kwan mcdonald last october. the city is preparing to release squad car video of that incident. ministers met with mayor raum emanu rahm emanuel to talk about this last night. it shows the teen with a knife but walking away from police. an autopsy report says he was shot at least twice in the back. an 8-year-old girl is dead after a car she was driving crashed. the girl's grandfather was a passenger in that car that went down an embankment in kansas on

sunday. police say the girl was driving home when she lost control of that car. police say her grandfather gave her permission to drive. he was injured. but is expected to be okay. it is now 5:24. a trial is expected to start soon in the vatican against two journalists. italian journalists. indicted last weekend for soliciting and put ing pressure on the church to get information for his book. he and another both published books this month that reveal waste, mismanagement and greed within the vatican. >> in the communique that the vatican released over the weekend, they stressed the journalists were especially culpable because they put pressure and solicited this information, especially to underline it, especially if the monsignor. >> they're claiming the trial is against freedom of the press, leaking vatican documents carries a possible sentence of six months to two years in prison and $2100 fine.

naked and unfazed by a taser. that is how arlington police describe a man who faces charges including possession of synthetic drugs. officers say they found 29-year-old hector sagura on crystal drive early monday morning, sweating and thrashing around on the ground and an officer used a taser on him twice after he says sagura rushed at the officer's cruiser and began pounding on it. several notable people will be in the district today. they're receiving the medal of freedom from the president. highest honor for civilians. director steven spielberg, baseball legend willie mays and maryland senator barbara mikulski are among 17 people being honored. is bonnie carol. she runs a nonprofit to help military families when a soldier dies. why donald trump insists his comments about the 9/11 attacks are true and the article from our area. it is something that affected a lot of you. now new details about a website

talks at the white house today after the terror attacks in paris. tracie potts joins us live from capitol hill with more on what we can expect today. good morning. >> breaking this hour, they will likely discuss this russian jet that was shot down by turkey and the fight against isis. and just goes to show how countries who all are against isis certainly have different issues when it comes to dealing with the syrian situation, syrian civil war. before that, the white house told us they will be talking about the u.s. backing france in its air strikes against isis in syria, showing its support. about information sharing and the lack of intelligence sharing that may have led to what happened in paris, the fact that france and other countries weren't talking about what they knew about the terror cells being set up. and the big issue of military cooperation, what is france willing to do, what is the united states willing to do to go after isis in syria.

is anyone willing to put boots on the ground, which many here have pressured president obama to do. he's been reluctant beyond just a few special ops forces, but that will be a big part of the conversation as president obama and president hollande sit down at the white house today. >> tracie potts live on capitol hill for us, thank you. >> 5:32 now. a man facing charges after investigators say he used a hoax explosive at a mosque in falls church. chester gore didn't hurt anyone last thursday. the explosion damaged a fence, but not the dar al hijrah center on rose street. gore is in the fairfax county jail this morning. among the charges, causing damage based on religious conviction. in decision 2016, donald trump is not backing down. he reiterated claims last night that people in new jersey cheered the attacks on 9/11. he referenced a washington post article from 2001. it explained how the fbi was investigating alleged celebrations in new jersey. they'll try to deny it,

they'll say we made a mistake, i almost like that better, i could show you how dishonest they all are. i might like that better. >> the post had since said the reports in the article were unfounded. republican rival ben carson is distancing himself from trump's claims. he said last night he was remembering celebrations overseas, not in jersey city. tough talk on immigration in prince william county. a top elected leader there says he will fire anyone who does not follow the county's strict immigration law. board chairman cory stewart says it recently has come to his attention that is not always happening. he says there are specific lapses in the policy that requires police to check the immigration status of every person they arrest. if that person is undocumented, it is on police to report that to ice, immigrations and customs enforcement. >> our message is very clear that if you're here illegally, prince william county will do everything within our power to have you removed.

home on silver glen lane on saturday morning. now concerned that many of you will turn to similar devices to stay warm as the temperatures continue to fall. the message this morning is check the wires on your space heaters and other heating devices and keep them at a safe distance from anything that can catch fire. police are looking for the car of a man found dead inside his home in woodbridge. harold hall had signs of trauma on his body when officers arrived at his house on friday. police are looking for a blue 2,000 gmc sierra with virginia plates abd 8942. if you've seen it, give police a call. 21 1/2 million victims of the office of personnel management massive data breach will have access to a new website. in a few weeks those who haven't received letters can go online and find out which identity protection services they can get. social security numbers, fingerprint records and personal data were all compromised. opm is sending out 800,000 notification letters a day. they hope to have everyone

there are special weather balloons floating above us now. we learned one caused a bomb scare. the balloons was launched by the national weather service office in sterling, virginia, came down on a car in philadelphia, 165 miles away. the incident happened over the weekend. a bomb squad determined that device was harmless. it is now just about 5:41. time for weather and traffic on the 1s. we're talking about cold weather and potential for nice warmup. >> chuck bell is here with the info. >> cold indeed this morning. how about 32 in college park, maryland. 29 at ft. belvoir and springfield, virginia. 33 in rockville. another day where you'll need that winter coat on the way out

four big headlines we're following now, starting with a plane shot down on the syrian border. it was a russian plane and turkey shot it down. angie goff will have new video of a search for survivors coming up at 6:00 a.m. police remain at the scene of a double shooting in the district. it happened late last night near pennsylvania and minnesota avenues in southeast. one person was killed there. police did reopen pennsylvania avenue about 3:30 this morning. pretty slow headed inbound

on 66, approaching 123, a crash in the right lane has some debris across the roadway. we're talking about a two-mile backup. good morning. what you need to know about the weather today, cold this morning, a ton of sunshine coming. what you need to know about travel weather and the holiday, that's coming up in a few minute s. i'm krifstin wright at dulls airport. a worldwide travel alert as you get ready to leave town for thanksgiving. the warning says that current information suggests that isis, al qaeda and other terrorist groups are planning attacks in multiple regions. the alert goes on to say americans should be vigilant in public places, and when traveling using particular caution during the holiday season, right now, and be aware of surroundings and avoid large crowds. the state department's warning also points out that terrorists have, of course, in the past targeted airlines, large sporting events and theaters.
