another cold start, but not anywhere near as cold or windy as it was yesterday. you'll still need to layer up as temperatures are in the low and mid-30s across much of the metro area early this morning. 24 hour focus, cold air hanging around for another day or so. 7:00 a.m. this morning near 32 degrees. by 7:00 tonight, temperatures in the mid-40s staying chilly and dry. another pretty cold start tomorrow morning with temperatures in the mid-30s once again. then the warming trend kicks in, talking about the thanksgiving forecast for today. looks like a beautiful day coming up for the holiday. good turkey eating weather. temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. how long does the warm air hang around. we'll answer that with your seven day forecast later on in the show. developing this morning, at least one man is dead in a double shooting. this happened about 9:45 last night near pennsylvia and minnesota avenues in southeast d.c. police still sorting things out here. news 4's molette green is live there following developments. good morning. >> d.c. police investigators

here through the night, there is a lookout for a man, but the description at this point is very vague. several patrol cars in two areas here along pennsylvania avenue at 25th street. police say up around this gas station, shutting it down, the attendant is still inside. just doing paperwork at this point. there is also police tape across the street in an alley way next to a home there. d.c. police confirming this is a homicide, one man shot in the 2500 block of pennsylvania avenue died. another shot in the 2500 block of minnesota avenue was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital. at this point, there is no motive in the case. and for a good bit earlier this morning traffic in this area was shut down as investigators work the scene. of course, all of that reopened now. but the police tape still up, police cars still here. and there is a look out for at

least one suspect in this case. that is the latest live from southeast d.c. back to you. now 6:03. a man with a history of sex charges is expected in court. fairfax county police say michael edwards took pictures of women up their skirts at a grocery store back in august. he's also accused of exposing himself to a woman. edwards receive probation in 2011 after admitting to spraying several women with bodily fluids. also today, a pretrial hearing for one of the baltimore police officers who faces charges in the death of freddie gray. william porter, the man in the upper left-hand picture, is expected in court this morning. he and five other officers face charges in the 25-year-old's death. gray died from a spinal injury he received in police custody back in april. his death sparked protests and riots. we are following breaking news from the syrian border where russian plane was shot down. new video of the russian search

investigation, french police discovered an explosive vest on the southern edge of paris. they say it contains the same type of explosives used in the vests in the terror attacks earlier this month that killed 130 people. brussels will stay on alert, high alert for at least another week. the prime minister in belgium says authorities are looking for whoever may have ditched that explosive vest. here at home, the state department is warning americans about the possible risks of travel after increased terror threats. 6:05. police are waiting on toxicology tests to see whether a man was drunk when he was run over by a metro train. blue and silver line service is now back to normal at the tap toll heights metro station. metro says the man was by himself, walking down the platform around 7:30 last night. surveillance cameras may show him carrying a container when he fell. the victim's name has not been released. the district is a step closer to deciding how to honor the late marion barry. muriel bowser announced the

final four recommendings last night. the options are renaming blue high school, renaming good hope road in southeast, naming the new center at uvc after barry or commissioning a statue or bust outside the wilson building. they can pick one or all four of the options. yesterday marked one year since barry's death. important work at the white house today. president obama is warding more than a dozen recipients of the medal of freedom, highest honor for civilians. several celebrities are here including steven spielberg and willie mays. maryland senator barbara mikulski is being honored as bonnie carol. carol runs a nonprofit to help military families when a soldier dies. there are 17 recipients in total. not all are alive today. if you pay dominion virginia power for electricity in northern virginia you'll be getting a little money back. they have to refund customer because it took in too much

police are searching for three suspects for a shooting at a black lives matters protest. five people are recovering right now. they're all expected to be okay. the protests happening in response to jamar clark's death, a black man killed in police custody. police say they're searching for three white male suspects in the overnight shooting. dozens of puppies have been seized. fairfax county got several complaints about the health of the dogs at dreamy puppy store in chantilly. police are investigating whether the animals were too young to be sold, about 50 puppies were

new photos of a house explosion in indiana. take a look at the damage here. you can see there isn't much left. this home was leveled. officials said overnight a gas leak is to blame. we know that one person died, two others are in the hospital now. the whole town reportedly says that they felt the impact of the blast. developing at ft. hood in texas, an investigation into a military helicopter crash. all four crew members on board died. this happened last night and as of right now, it is not clear what caused that crash. ft. hood officials say the

helicopter was on a rue teoutin training mission when it went down. a new lawsuit this morning, this after mike pence reversed plans to accept syrian refugees after the attacks in paris. that lawsuit was filed late last night challenging the power to keep refugees out. this man facing charges after investigators say he used hoax explosives at a mosque in falls church. chester gore didn't hurt anybody last thursday. the explosion damaged air fence, though, but not the dar al hijrah islamic center on rose street. gore is in the fairfax county jail this morning. among the charges against him, causing damage based on religious conviction. a mother wants other parents and teens to learn a lesson from her 15-year-old's death. roberto pitre died in a crash in sterling. he was fleeing a traffic stop. she didn't know he took the car. he wasn't supposed to have it. he didn't have a license or a learners permit.

a woman in fairfax county is dead after a heating pad caused a house fire. firefighters were called to the house on silver glen lane on saturday morning, now concerned that many of you will now turn to similar devices to stay warm as the temperatures continue to fall. the message is to check the wires on your space heaters and other heating devices and keep them at a safe distance. the nfl is looking into whether it followed the right concussion protocol after the rams quarterback was hit hard. the back of his helmet slammed into the ground against the ravens. his hands went toward his head and struggled to get up. he stayed in the league though. they're looking at why he wasn't removed for a necessary evaluation. exercising during pregnancy is a must. the american college of obstetricians and gynecologists saying exercising during pregnancy helps to reduce many

yeardley love. he was hired in 2001 after working for the baltimore police department for nearly 20 years. police in frederick, maryland, are trying to figure out who stabbed a man. police were called to providence court and hill street around 10:00 last night. they found the man who had been stabbed there. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. police right now are look for a light colored sedan, possibly a mazda seen leave the area at the time of the stabbing. watch out for' a real esta scam. residents have been getting letters claiming they owe real estate taxes. if they don't pay up, the letter says the county will take their homes. unless you hear directly from the arlington county treasurer, this is a scam. it is now 6:33. an important report ahead of the big holiday sale this week. toy industry experts will share their report on unsafe toys. check the nbc washington app

school is now suing for $15 million. his family is suing the city of irving, texas and the school district. the family moved out of the country to qatar. the national weather service launches weather balloons all the time. we know that and learned one from our area caused a bomb scare. it was sent up in sterling this weekend. traveled about 165 miles and landed on a car in philadelphia. the weather balloons are used to measure humidity in the atmosphere. a bomb squad was called in and determined the device was harmless. breaking news on 66 now, take a look at this chopper 4 over the delays. the crash is on the right side. does not matter, it is still very slow for a lot of folks here. if you take 66, you want to allow some extra time here this morning as that gets out of the

d.c. police have a lookout for a man with the description is very vague. we only ow he was wearing a black and white shirt and had a scarf covering his face. the scarf was described as pink in color. several police cars remain here on the scene. and there are some officers just over the crime tape there out on footworki inthe scene here. you can see the crime tape. we're at a gas station that is entirely blocked off with crime tape. it has been like this all morning throughout the night. there is also police tape across the street in an alley way. just across from a gas station that is across the street. now, we can tell you that one man was shot in the 2500 block of pennsylvania avenue and that man died. another man shot in the 2300 block of minnesota avenue and was conscious and breathing on the way to the hospital.
