here on the news and on the washington 4 app. a man splashed into several police cruisers during a pursuit along i-95 on the beltway and didn't end until he got all the way to alexandria. >> he's making a shooting motion. >> the man made a strategic error as he was racing along eisenhower avenue and he turned into a dead-end street and ran into a fence, and three police officers were damaged in the chase. police say a man was hit, and the driver who did hit him stayed on the scene. fairfax county's accident reconstruction unit is working to figure out more about how it happened.

down magnificent mile on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. protesters blocked entrances to some stores, but they are being peaceful for the most part. no officers were trying to help the teenager once he was down. van dyke was charged with first-degree murder, and the activist wants to focus on the city of chicago. >> a lot of things happen that we are not aware of, and because of this video we are now aware of what we have known takes place for years, and now everybody can see what takes place, so i think it's no shock to us, but i think it's important for us to raise awareness so the world can know what is going on here in chicago. >> officer van dyke's attorney says he feared for his life and the shooting was justified because he felt threatened.

now to a developing story in chicago involving a murder of a one of the three men suspected of killing him has now been charged. police released a picture of morgan who they think lured the boy into an alley and they think they targeted the boy for revenge for the father. an act of generosity coming out of the horrific and deadly crash at the homecoming parade at oklahoma state university.

the hospital who treated more than three dozen patients after a driver paraded into the crowd will not be billing those patients. four people also died last month in the crash and the woman behind the wheel is charged with second-degree murder and assault and not clear why she drove into the crowd and her lawyer's say she may be mentally ill. >> the heads of 43 presidents sit in a field in virginia and why they are there and what farm owner prepares to do with them. why brick and mortar stores are not dead yet. >> open the nbc washington

we continue to follow breaking news in colorado where at least three officers have been injured after a gunman open fire at a planned parenthood. the shooter has not been taken into custody. they are not sure where he is.

we're going to keep updating you as we learn more. demonstrators are marching through the streets of chicago and protesting the police shooting of the teenager mcdonald. the activist blocked traffic and the entrances to some stores, and police officers are lining the route of the march, which other than that the march has been peaceful. i am darrick ward. needless to say, security issues is not on a lot of peoples' minds, but malls will not talk in detail about the security measures that are being taken, and over here at pentagon city, for instance, they tell us they have been working closely with the fbi and homeland security officials to vet a security plan and get it approved.

details are not out there and there will be measures you can see and others you can't, and they want you to be more concerned about finding a good parking space or a good sale and not worry about these things, and they are asking people are their own agents of the security, and if you see something, protect something. protect sensitive information, credit cards and receipts because cyber security is as big of an issue. >> of course security is not keeping people out of the stores. it's one of the biggest shopping days out of the year. despite the ease of all of the online shopping, a lot of you are still turning to what they call the brick and mortar stores and washington post retail reporter wrote about the thrill of the in store hunt and thank you for coming here on this day after thanksgiving to tell us

experience and not a mob scene. >> yes, cleaning up the stores and making them more organized and trying to be better stocked so when you come in you don't find the thing you wanted wasn't there to begin with. those are simple tactics, and target is trying to specific up its store display, and they are using manikins. so you have the pinterest worthy moment where you not only want to buy the dinner plate but the napkin and place mat to go with it, and they are trying to give people ideas when you get into the store. >> for the 7%, i know when i am shopping online, it's because i am looking for one thing specifically and i want the convenience of that. they do want a lot of people still online and what are they doing to improve that 7%.

>> they are trying to win on mobile. we are spending more time on our smart phones as opposed to our laptops, and think about the mobile shopping experience if you had to be pinching and zooming and feeling out a lot of forms and it's a really discouraging performance, and they know more use is going to take place on the tiny screen, and they are trying to have faster load times and easy check out where if you have the newest iphone all you need is a thumb scan to make sure it's you. >> get that money out of our wallets. thank you, sarah. there are some big deals online, by the way. so just check them out. chris? >> thanks, wendy. sarah did a good job of explaining why people want to get out to the stores, and doug, all they need is for the good

weather to continue a little longer. >> we are going to see changes in the weather as we make our way over the next couple of days. the holiday parade kicked off this morning, and i was down there with angie goff, and we were mc'ing the event today. tonight, they will light the tree at about 6:00 tonight. here's the current view. you can see we have plenty of sunshine and what a difference a year makes last year. it was freezing during the parade this year, a very nice parade. temperatures across the area, 61 degrees under clear skies and winds out of the south at 10 miles per hour. around the rest of the area, 64 leesburg, and 56 in annapolis. a very nice evening, but if you are going out tonight you will still need the light jacket. we are going to see temperatures fall into the low 50s around 7:00 tonight, and many of you in the 40s by 8:00 or 9:00.

storm team 4 radar continues to be clear, no chance of rain for about the next 24 hours, but you can start to see we're looking at something different, clouds and shower activity, trying to move our way and we will see some of the showers tomorrow, nothing like what they are seeing back to the west, though. showers and ice. for us, it's the cloud cover first. we have clouds tomorrow morning and some sun, but then the clouds really come in. 6:00, 7:00, the rain tries tof move in here. and then by 11:00, most areas will see some shower activity right on through the night on your saturday, and most of sunday looks dry but you may see showers earlier, and if you are traveling around, best chance to go to the north and back towards pittsburgh, and roanoke, that's where we could see rain if you are going to be on the roadways. next couple of days, temperatures going down. high in the 60s tomorrow, and sunday only 53, and only 48 on monday and another pretty good

we continue to follow the breaking news in colorado springs, colorado. police are still being fired upon by the active shooter at the planned parenthood office in colorado springs. at least three officers have been injured. an unknown and unknown number of

other people, one person said she heard as many as 20 shops and saw an officer fall to the ground and there's a nearby mall that is on lockdown. police don't know if the shooter has any connection to the planned parenthood. and then in custody and facing a number of possible charges. a chase came to an end when he turned into a dead end street and ran into a fence. hundreds spent their black friday marching. they want the city's top leaders to step down after a deadly police shooting. nbc's edward lawrence has the details. >> hundreds of protesters demanding answers from the

the church received an outpouring after a gunman open fire on people praying inside the church. you are going to donate a million to the hope fund. they will spend the rest of the money on a permanent memorial and fund scholarships and make building improvements and continue their community outreach. not everybody applied to give out medical marijuana in maryland is going to get the chance to do so. the state says it has more than a thousand applications for the medical cannabis program.

springs. four police officers are hurt in an active shooter situation at a planned parenthood office there and there are still under fire there. police also confirmed civilians have been hurt but we don't know how many. we don't know what the shooter's motivation may have been. chris lawrence will join us from the live desk in minutes. back in our area a. high-speed chase that involved a man hitting several police cars today. i am doreen gentzlor. they are doing at least 50 miles per hour as the suspect sped along eisenhower avenue. some of them had been trailing him from way back in springfield when he first took off from a traffic stop.

you see the traffic circle down there? that's where the suspect made a wrong move, when he turned down a dead end street. >> literally, figuratively the end of the road for a man that fled from a traffic stop and led police on a chase through two jurisdictions. it must have looked like a movie scene as the suspect plowed into the tree and fence. he was quickly surrounded by officers including some whose cars he repeatedly smashed. just listen to the radio communication from the officers and cruisers. one fairfax county unmarked cruiser was left behind just off the beltway after it was hit and that's where police thought they had the guy stopped, boxing him in at a light and then the civilian car in front of him moved. >> i heard a bunch of noise, the police officers were speeding
