here is the top stories that we're following right now. police say that robert lewis dear is the gunman suspected of killing an officer and two other people at a colorado planned parenthood. he is from south carolina. nine others including five colorado springs police officers were shot during the staboff. d.c. police investigating a string of shootings in southeast. five people shot in 90 minutes. one victim in critical condition. so far there are no suspects. today is small business saturday. here is a live look from old town alexandria right now. we've got early shoppers out there. experts predict $14 billion in sales will be done this year, special events are being offered in select areas including alexandria, vienna, bethesda, shaw and capitol hill. >> i love that shot in front of king street city hall and old ç this

morning. welcome back to "news4 today." i'm david culver. >> and i'm angie goff. so glad you could join us early on this saturday morning. it looks like weather wise things are off to a good start. >> let's check in with amelia siegel. what are you thinking? >> david, for today mild temperatures once again with highs in the 60s, however, looking out your window already noticing the clouds we are looking at a cloudy day and showers moving in later today. currently washington coming in at 51, reston as well, dulles also at 51 degrees. here is your hour by hour temperature forecast. by noon temperature around 63, our high today is 65. you can see during the afternoon hours we just kind of hang out around there because of the clouds we won't warm up any more than 65 degrees, but relatively speaking that's mild for this time of year. our average high is 52 so we're running 10 to 15 degrees above normal today. after today, though, we do cool off and you can see for the workweek temperatures remain for the most part closer to average for this time of year.

i'm going to have more on the shower chances later today coming up in ten minutes. the latest man to jump the white house fence is expected in court on monday, but he's under extra watch this morning. police found a suicide note inside the virginia home where joseph caputo was staying. he also left a will and an audio message for his mom. caputo appeared in court friday and was released to the secret service for a psychological evaluation. the delegate eleanor holmes norton is demanding to know how he got over the fence. >> i appreciate that this probably could have stopped 95% of the people, but terrorists are not 95% of the team, nor was this man. >> norton says she is going to ask the secret service for a full briefing next week. new york city police stepping up patrols around planned parenthood locations after yesterday's attack in colorado. the nypd sent officers to locations throughout the city, throughout that standoff. now, the agencies say there are

no specific threats to planned parenthood locations and they had increased patrols just as an extra precaution. the latest now in decision 2016. gop candidate ben carson is in the middle east in morning. he will meet with syrian refugees in jordan. he drew criticism earlier this month for do you saying an analogy that seemed to compare refugees to rabid dogs, he has condemned president obama's plan to welcome 10,000 syrian refugees to the u.s. carson's camp says he will tour a refugee camp but it's not because of security concerns. maryland governor larry hogan is among those calling for the federal government to do more to ensure security before welcoming refugees from syria. now one maryland county is taking action on its own. news 4's chris gordon reports. >> reporter: montgomery county residents we spoke with today are divided over inviting syrian

refugees to resettle here. >> absolutely i'd welcome them. i don't think there's any proven statistic or study that says that -- that the terrorists are syrian refugees. >> i think they present basic concerns because we don't know where they're from. >> reporter: montgomery county leaders have sent a letter to the federal government welcoming syrian refugees, isaiah leg get and all nine council members signed the letter. >> we got an excellent response from the gentleman we wrote to, the director of the office of refugee resettlement and he thanked us for our welcoming attitude. >> reporter: after the terrorist attacks on paris larry hogan announced he opposes settlement for now. 9=i hogan's first responsibility is and always will be providing for the safety and security of all marylanders and nothing will change that. i asked march elrich if he is

confident they won't pose a safety concern. >> we think we can be safe and secure. >> reporter: councilman craig rice has confidence in the thoroughness of the vetting process of the fbi and department of homeland security. >> we're talking about anywhere from 18 months to two years before someone can actually be cleared. those are the kinds of processes that we want to have. >> reporter: montgomery county leaders tell me they expect the first syrian refugees to arrive in in community early next year. reports from montgomery county, chris gordon, news 4. a maryland state police trooper -- state trooper has been suspended with pay for driving drunk and crashing his car. thomas hobbs works as an aviation rescue technician. police say they flipped his car early thursday morning. the 26-year-oldó? faces dui and other charges. he has been with the department for more than a year. 9:06. this is an incredible rescue in

anniversary of the canonization of 22 catholic martyrs by pope fall vi. the martyrs were burned alive rather than renouncing their faith. even after the pope's arrival thousands more pilgrims were still trying to get into the shrine there. a mom in chile says the hospital where her baby was born is restricting her access to her own 'cchild. >> she is says because she smoked marijuana in the days before the birth. she said during labor she told officials she did it to relieve some pain she had in a broken arm. she and her husband are challenging the hospital's decision saying that it was for medical reasons only. the hospital says they are only following protocol right now. a court has ordered the baby to stay at the hospital until it rules on the case after a hearing that's scheduled for thursday. a new documentary is bringing $]virginia's hair i wi and prescription drug problem to light it is called "heroin, the hardest hit." the documentary was made by the virginia state university and the state's attorney general's

maybe sing you a song, all that good stuff. definitely a way to get into the holiday spirit to support local small businesses. we're live in old town, derrick ward, news 4. speaking of small business saturday, american express doing away with what's become a popular incentive for the day. in previous years amex has given its cardholders $10 to $30 of credit for skipping the big store chains. they say they will continue to promote small business saturday through advertising but losing that incentive. in just a few days cyber monday. a lot of us won't be sitting at a computer while shopping online. for the first time this weekend more people are expected to shop on their smart phones than a desktop or a tablet. ibm watson expects mobile sales to account for 36% of online sales. this holiday season walmart expects 75% of u.s. traffic to its website to come from mobile devices. all right. so a popular and, yeah, often

inappropriate gamel/$tju partie is offering an interesting black friday deal this year. they put this up yesterday, cards against humanity asked people to pay them $5 and get absolutely nothing in return. but they got $71,000 before midnight. several employees posted receipts on their website detailing how the money was spent. so in addition to each donating to different charities many spent money to pay off student loans and car payments. they also used the money on random items like kitty litter, vacations, video games, a rumba. >> you have to have a rumba. >> do you? and a suit of armor. that is a necessity. >> this is the second year that they've done it. last year they did a little twist, but last year they sold boxes of bull -- >> go ahead. >> bull crud. >> i see. yeah. and people bought it. >> 30,000 people bought it and

they got it. >> unbelievable. >> i don't think they were expecting that. in other news the nsa is scheduled to end its collection of data on phone calls on domestic carriers tonight. it is the most significant change since' edward snowden revealed details of the program back in 2013. under the patriot act the nsa had been permitted to gather records about phone calls and hunt through them to discover connections to al qaeda and other groups. sheriff's deputies going to start wearing body cameras next year. 14 of the devices were donated to the sheriff's office this for a trial program. earlier this year county officials approved a $25,000 grant to pay for 50 body cameras but county administrator mark taylor says there are competing public safety needs like hiring more school resource officers. we are hearing about an incredible rescue in montgomery

throughout the day. overall today if you're in the district the weather having a low impact on your day, it's mild, showers move in mainly during the evening hours. if you're north of washington, areas like montgomery, frederick, loudoun counties the weather having a low to moderate impact because you will be dealing with scattered showers especially during the afternoon. 11:00 a.m. the temperature of 58 degrees, by 2:00 a temperature around 64, at that point showers still favoring areas north of washington. once we hit 5:00 p.m., though, can't rule out some showers making it inside the beltway, a temperature of 63. 8:00 you're heading out at that point you do want to anticipate rain. for the most part pretty light in nature and a temperature of 59. we'regt not talking about any downpours for going out tonight, but you will want the umbrella or the rain jacket. otherwise mild with temperatures in the 50s during the evening hours. here is the hour by hour forecast throughout the day tomorrow. you can see near steady temperatures from start to finish for the most part in the low 50s. so 9:00 a.m. the temperature

around 50 degrees, 5:00 p.m. the temperature around 50 degrees, even at 7:00 still at about 49 degrees. so that rain intensity for tomorrow, again, you will want the umbrella during the morning hours as we track light to moderate showers mainly during the first half of the day. here is your travel weather. 6:00 a.m. on sunday you can see showers impacting 95, 81, 270, 70, the beltway in baltimore as well as washington. by noon still tracking areas of rain for most of us. once we work our way toward 2:00 p.m. showers pull away from the area. we're dry for the late afternoon and evening hours. if you're traveling later in the day tomorrow travel weather is looking good. if you're heading to the redskins game with that 1:00 p.m. kickoff can't rule out some hours by kickoff time but then it should be field at fedex field. you will want a warm sweatshirt for the game as well. on monday a high of 48, so chilly with plenty of clouds.y the day is dry, but as we move
