the home of the shooting and the home connected to farouk. so far, the fbi is not saying it's connected to terrorism. more from san bernardino. >> reporter: police zeroed in on the suspects just hours after the shooting. they moved from house to house after a deadly firefight with the suspects. >> we have two suspects that are dead at the scene. one of them is a male and one is a female. we have one police officer that was wounded. he has injuries not considered to be life-threatening. >> reporter: both suspects were dressed in tactical clothing and both armed with assault rifles and handguns. a third person has been detained by police but not clear if he is connected to the shooting. earlier in this day, police were called to a social services facility after reports of a mass sho shooting. three gunmen had killed 14 people and wounded many more. it happened while many people were at work. they now struggle to describe

>> the run, hide, fight discussion we've been having since mumbai is you have really three options if this happens, one, run and get out if you can, two, hide, barricade yourself behind a locked door, if you can, but if there's no alternative, you can't get out and can't hide your other option is to fight. >> reporter: an active shooter scenario was only coincidentally on tonight's session for the d.c. police engagement academy. with the tragedy unfolding in san bernardino, california, she was asked about her comments to the national news program that signal a change in long standing advice what to do when the unthinkable happens. >> given the amount of time these active shooter scenarios unfold, most happening and finish within less than 10 minutes. police officer, the best in the country will get there 5-7. >> and she also took part in the active shooter situation.

back to that breaking news we've been following all day, right now the s.w.a.t team and bomb squad are at sayed farook's home and sources say he is connected to a social services of killing 14 people. people forced their way in and pulled some items out of there with a bomb squad robot. still unclear whether farook is the person killed in the shootout or if he is the person running away from the scene. shifting to other big stories we're following today, testimony will get under way tomorrow in the trial of a baltimore police officer charged with manslaughter in the death of freddie gray. this morning, a jury was seated of eight women and four men. and said there was no reason not to put a seatbelt on freddie gray the day gray died and said they ignored calls for help from

officer acted outside his authority and broke the law. >> this is the most shared story on our nbc washington facebook page today, a pitbull stood guard over his owner injured in a house fire. this happened early this morning in landover hills. the woman is going to be okay but she won't be able to bring the dog or puppy back home with her. bulldogs are banneden prince george's's county and she'll have to find somebody elseto take the dog or put in a shelter. police say that dog will not be put down. >> i think they will be lining up to give that dog a home. someone called in a bomb report and forced them to advocate the high school in maryland. >> news4 shomari stone talked to investigators and live at the high school right now. >> reporter: good evening. we talked to people in this neighborhood and one man walked up to us and told us he has squared. students evacuated around 4:15,

someone calling 911 claiming there was a bomb in the school when prince george's county police searched five floors and found a suspicious backpack that had what appeared to be wires sticking out of it and the bomb squad employed a robot to inspect it and good news is there wasn't a bomb. classes will resume tomorrow. i talked to the fire chief and said that were operating out of abundance of caution and take threats seriously and will continue to investigate who made that 911 call. live here in prince george's county, shomari stone, news4. >> thanks. a student accused of bringing a gun to a d.c. high school will stay in police custody. another student saw the gun and alerted a teacher. all d.c. schools are reviewing their security procedures because of this incident. that student is expected back in court next week. >> we want to get back to the

breaking news in southern california. >> dave summers from our sister station, kmsd, is live in the neighborhood where police got into the shootout with suspects of today's mass shooting? can you put that into context? what's going on now and where is this house in relation to the center where everything happened? >> reporter: well, investigators are literally all over the san bernardino area and neighboring city, corona, as well. trying to put the pieces together. we're east where mountain view and san bernardino avenue a quarter mile east of here of this barricade is where that shootout occurred. at this hour, there are investigators on the scene and heard from atf they recovered two rifles and handguns and found an improvised explosion in

the car, the black suv. there was some concern they would have to detonate it there but so far that has not happened. investigators being very careful here because there were several shots fired between police and the suspects, two of the suspects shot and killed and one female not identified. the other suspects have been identified. it's not clear who the suspect that was killed by police at this scene is. one of those names is sayed farook and his brother have been identified as two shooters involved in this inland center massacre. >> thanks, dave. dave is telling us dave hopes to have another update in an hour or so. tomorrow morning on "news4 today" j that will get started at 4:26. >> we will turn to our weather. we have big changes coming our
