27-year-old tashfeen malik. they got married in saudi arabia and came back and had a baby. farook worked for the county for five years as a restaurant inspector. overnight police searched their home in red lands. they detonated pipe bombs found inside that house. right now investigators are searching that house. they're trying to collect any evidence that may lead to a motive for the shooting. this attacking is the deadliest shooting in this country since the sandy hook school shooting. gunfire erupted yesterday at 11:00 in california. 17 hurt. nearby loma linda hospital received five patients. two of those people are in stable but critical condition. family members rushed to the hospital hoping for any news of their loved ones. >> he was on his lunch while it happened. that's how i'm guessing he was

shot. it started outside and moved inside. >> paramedics rushed six other patients to arrowhead center. one has been discharged. they're not saying how the other five are doing. >> president obama offered his condolences to the victims and families of the dead. he was already in another skidualed tv interview when he heard what happened. the president talked about how we need to toughen gun control laws. >> we have a no-fly list where people can't get on planes, but those same people we don't allow to fly could go into a store right now in the united states and buy a firearm and there's nothing we can do to stop them. >> the president also said americans cannot accept regular mass shootings as the new normal. >> and d.c.'s police chief said she stands by what she said about what you can do if there's an active shooter. "news4" talked with police chief cathy lanier. at that meeting officers went over the options during an

hours ago found that the agency is urjds staffed and agents are overworked. they blame leadership failings and budget cuts by congress. the high-profile embarrassments of over the last few years include an american prostitution scandal. today the testimony will begin in the trial of the baltimore police officer involved in the manslaughter of fred drink gray. yesterday prosecutors focused on what officer porter did not do, which called for a medic who might have saved his life. they say porter should have put a seatbelt okay gray in the back of the van. he didn't know about a policy requiring suspects to be put in seatbelts. gray died a week later after suffering a spiem injury while in police custody. right now police want your help in finding a 12-year-old

discuss a bus route transit system. they'll get across the county using dedicated bus lanes. that meeting takes place tonight at in rockville. members of the northern virginia transportation commission will vote on the state government's plan on how funds raised through the tolls will be spent. today could be the final step of where the commonwealth transportation board gets the final say. the state's proposal would clear nearly ten miles of hot lanes on 66. these would not be new lanes. the existing lanes would become hot lanes during the peak driving periods. the university of maryland is introducing its new head football coach job. his name is d.j. durkin. he worked at university of michigan. he also worked at florida and stanford before this. this is his third head coaching job. more in the scandal rocking

14 before the hour. if you're just waking up, we're learning a lot of new information about that deadly shooting in san bernardino, california. police say there were only two shooters who stormed into the inland regional center kill 14g people. the shooters had been identified as a married couple. the husband worked for the company, possibly in that building. they're not ruling out terrorism

as a motive for the attack. >> right now the investigators are working three active crime scene. one is the home where the couple lived. investigators will also be looking into the suspects' recent trip and marriage into saudi arabia. nbc's jay gray is live in the inland regional center where the shooting took place. jay, good morning. what are you learning this morning? >> reporter: yeah, eun. that's where the bulk of the investigation is taking place. police uncovered three explosive devices described as pipe bombs. they were detonated using robotics. they're not getting into the area to piece together why and how this happened. you're also looking at a home that the couple may have shared there. also investigating the scene where the shoot-out occurred where the suspects were tracked down by police and eventually died during that shoot-out. this is an investigationhat police say is going to take some serious time. they say it's a marathon, not a sprint. that's their words.

loaded handgun into the building -- into a building on the u.s. capitol grounds. police arrested him yesterday. a review by the "news4" i-team has found this is the 11th time this happened this year. officers stopped christopher carpenter during a security check yesterday. carpenter is an employee of the senate sergeant-at-arms and duh not have a permit to carry the gun. one of the women accused of ropes and dancing on a man is accused of groping. in return for that plea, the u.s. attorney's office will not indict knight on the two felony charges that were also charged against her. she fakess a she faces 90 days. this morning sandy berger is remembered. berger served as a national security adviser during the second term of former president bill clinton. he remained active as a forum

policy adviser but he also was caught up in a bit of controversy. he pled guilty to removing documents from a national archive as he prepared to testify before the 9/11 commission. he was fined and sentenced to probation. he was 70 years old. today a resupply to the international space station will take off. the spacecraft will launch at 5:55 tonight. this is video from a previous launch. the craft will be carrying more than 7,000 pounds of supply. it should arrive at the iss on sunday. 4:51. officer santiago acted outside the authority and broke the law. head injuries in youth sports is the focus of a new mayo clinic study. people who play sports have a higher chance of a brain disorder called cte. it's caused by repeated blows to the head and concussions. it causes difficulty with thinking and emotions that may not be apparent for many years. some youth coaches say it should serve as a reminder rather than deter athletes from playing. >> we need to rein force the practices we've been having the last couple of yearser safety, doing things right, reminding kidding about contact and when to use your head and not use your head. >> cte cannot be diagnosed until after death and there's no cure it can be prevented. one of the holiday's hottest gifts has been causing safety concerns. there have been some reports of a hover board catching fire.
