in our weather. good morning to you, chuck. >> good morning, eun and aaron, and welcome to thursday, everybody. coming up on 5:01 in the morning and weather headlines of rain is feeble gone. how much good news is that. it will be breezy today and a little on the chilly side. you'll need to layer up a bit to stay warm during the day. most of the rain is over -- could be one stray raindrop or two out there early this morning. that's it. temperatures are in the mid to upper 40s around town. upper 30s in the shenandoah valley. a little cooler. focused in on the next 24 hours. breezy and blustery. 45 out the door at 7:00 a.m. after a sunny and nice enough day, it will be chilly this evening. if you're going out, you'll need an extra layer of warmth for that. we'll talk about the impact, the weather the breezes are going to have on your commute coming up in ten minutes. for a look at traffic here's kim mcdonald. >> thanks, chuck. usually things start picking up heavily at this point.

you can see traffic is heading along quite nicely. out of frederick down to the beltway. if you're coming out of frederick to the leesburg beltway, it's running smoothly. if you're moving inbound, we're starting to get a little heavy right as you cross the district line. aaron, eun? >> thank you, kim. we're learning new information about the shooting in san bernardino. police say only two shooters stormed into the regional inland center yesterday afternoon. investigators originally believed three shooters were involved. that man and woman died in a shoot-out with police. more on their identities in a moment. right now all of those hurt in the shooting are in stable condition. 14 people died in yesterday's shooting. so far the fbi is not saying whether the shooting is connected to terrorism or a workplace dispute. now to more on what we're learning about the suspected shooters here. please identified them as 28-year-old syed rizwan farook and 27-year-old tash phoenix malik. the two were married.

co-workers say farook traveleded to saudi arabia and returned married to tash phoenix. his wife had a baby. farook worked for the county for five years. overnight the police searched the home in nearby red lands. they found pipe bombs inside the house. right now they're search. ing the house. they're trying to collect evidence that may have been motive for the shooting. this attack is also the deadliest shooting in the u.s. since the sandy hook massacre in connecticut. gunfire erupted during an office party at the inland regional center yesterday around 11:00 a.m. 17 people were hurt in the shooting. nearby loma linda hospital received five paints. two of thome people are in stable but critical condition. family members rushed through the hospitals locally hoping for any news of their loved ones. >> he was on his lunch when it happened. that's how i'm guessing he was

shot because it started outside and moved inside. >> paramedics rushed six other patients to arrowhead regional center. one of them has already been discharged. the hospital is not saying how the other five are doing. it is 5:04. president obama offered his connell dough lenses to the victims and the family of the dead. he was already in an interview with cbs news when he heard what happened. he talked about the need to toughen gun control laws. >> we have a no-fly list where people can't get on planes, but those same people who we don't allow to fly could go into a store right now in the united states and buy a firearm and there's nothing we can do to stop them. >> the president also said americans cannot accept regular mass shootings as the new normal. d.c.'s police cheefr says she stands by what she said about what to do if you're facing an active shooter situation. she talked to "news4" at a police engagement meeting last

night. at that meeting officers showed off an active shooter simulation. chief lanier said you've about got three options. >> you've about got three options if this happens. one, running it out if you can. two, hide, barricade yourself behind a locked door if you can. but if there's no other alternative, you can't get out, you can't hide, your other option is to fight. >> mayor muriel bowser wassal there. she said officers often get to a shooting scene after everyone was shot. two pilots are dead after a military helicopter crashed this clarksville. they said the chopper went down during a routine training exercise. they found it on fire near a riverbed. three children are involved in a tractor trailer crash. they were in an suv that rear ended the truck.

the driver died. another woman, a 2-year-old, a 10-month-old and 6-month-old all went to the hospital. the driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt. right now, a 12-year-old gill is missing. take a look. her name is sky amar'e young. young's family says she may need medication. if you think you've seen her, call police. montgomery county will meet with officials from gaithersburg and rockville to discuss a bus rapid transit system. getting around the county may be a little easier. it would allow commuters to get around using bus lanes similar to a light rail system. that meeting takes place tonight in rockville at 7:00. an important step for plans of a tollway. members of the northern transportation commission will vote on how funds raised through the tolls will be spent.

today could be the final step before the commonwealth transportation board gets the file say. the state's proposal would create nearly ten miles of hot lanes on 66. these would not be new lanes. the existsing lanes would be hot lanes during the peak driving periods. 5:07. tonight right now in the nation's capital, the holiday southbound continues with the flip of a switch. last night it was the capital christmas tree, the 93rd national christmas tree lighting is tonight. developing story, search teams in australia are wrapping up efforts to find a missing plane. malaysia airports flight 370 went missing last year from kuala lumpur to beijing. they're now looking for the plane. the underwater search covering 46 square miles is the most expensive search ever carried out in the country. there were more than 200 passengers and crew on board. so far there is no trace of that plane. a man from annandale virginia now facing rape charges in maryland. police in frederick city say they arrested milton castro martinez. police say they used a sting operation to catch him this week. more than 155,000 food items containing celery powetown chally contaminated with e. coli bacteria are being recalled. the fda has expanded the recall

they were arrested just hours ago at the same hotel in zurich where police arrested several fifa members back in may. they're charged with corruption. parents, you can add this to your calendar. loudoun county public schools will be starting before labor day next school year. the first day of school will be august 29th, 2016. the 2016 through 2017 year also has a shorter winter break and ends june 9th of 2017. it's an option that parents, students, and teachers all support. coming up at 5:41, we're going to check "weather & traffic on the 1s." no rain. >> how about that. your way out d door this morning and gloves as well. kids under 50 pounds may have to have rocks in their pockets as well. going out for a walk, grab the wind breaker and the hat. temperatures won't rise much. upper 30s, low 40s now inching their way. we should be dry. a couple of light snowflakes along the virginia-west virginia border this morning. no snow in the metro area. that's unfortunate for those of us. the wind around here, no major delays that. is good news. breezy and sunny outside today. temperatures will be up near 50 degrees. not too terribly cold, but chiles nonetheless all the way through the weekend. temperatures low to mid-50s. low to mid-30s. it will be seasonably cold. again, there's that next chance for rain coming in early next week. a big change in the forecast. we'll let you know how it's going to change your plans for the day. that's coming up at 6:01. traffic time.

still searching for three suspects in this case. now overnight they determine it was likely two, a man and wife whork were responsible for more than a dozen murders here. there are three active investigation sites right now. first, the center where all of this happened in san bernardino. a roadway where a shoot-out with police ended with both of those suspects dead and the home they likely shared in redwood. police combing through that area right now trying to find out whatever they can that may help them under why all of this unfolded. more from the scene. we know that three homemade explosive devices resemably what please call pipe bombs were found. they used robotics to detonate those overnight. they're beginning in earnest their investigation there. just like they are at the home. trying to find anything that may help them understand how this unfolded that. is the latest live here in san bernardino.
