died saturday afternoon. he along with two other men, terry karlsson and jason willems were part of a western-based consulting firm. the ntsb is investigating the crash. they have no idea why it happened. a child went unconscious and the family called paramedics and today we're learning a simple piece of equipment helped seay that child and others from carbon monoxide poisoning. darcy spencer is live with more. >> reporter: this was a very close call. i'm told there were dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide in that home. i'm going to show you what saved their lives. take a look here, this is a small carbon monoxide detector. one of these went off yesterday when the crew went inside that house and these are affixed to every first aid bag carried by ems crews here in montgomery county. there were nine kids and their

two parents in that home on popping drive in rockville yesterday afternoon. that includes a 6-year-old girl who had fallen unconscious. they called 911 and the c.o. detector affixed to the medic's bag immediately went off as soon as they walked in the door letting them know exactly what went wrong and what to do. the dad and his two daughters were taken to the hospital and fortunately today they were released and doing okay. >> now i explained to doctor and it comes to what happened? she no wake up. i suggest now that all the house has to have one because as soon as they go in it was beeping. >> this occurred in the middle of the day. had they been exposed to this carbon monoxide at that level for an extended period of time say overnight, it could have been tragic. >> reporter: that's certainly the case. there were a lot of people in that house. the youngest child was just

1-month-old. fortunately, they're doing fine and again, erica, a very important reminder of the importance of having carbon monoxide detectors in your home. >> darcy spencer, thank you so very much. we appreciate that. in other news, the redskins beat the bears as jason pugh shows us from the newsroom, the team is keeping pace in a close division race. >> that's right, erika. players kept hearing about their road struggles and they were the only team in the league that hadn't won a game on the road this season. today though, the skins finally figured out their issues away from fedex field and jay gruden's team they still control their own destiny. gruden hope his players can stay on top of the nfc east standings. redskins jumped down to a two touchdown lead and they jumped down here on a third and goal, kurt cousins and the 5-yard score and ran four touchdowns and the skins are back up 14 and

rain hour by hour when it moves inland and when it moves out. the family of a black man shot multiple times is questioning the official account. the cell phone video is just too graphic for television. it appears to show nicholas robertson holding a gun, falling to the ground after being shot and then trying to crawl away as deputies keep shooting. the two deputies fired 33 rounds. police say robertson refused to drop the gun in this crowded neighborhood south of l.a. witnesses reported seeing robertson firing shots into the air and acting strangely before the shooting saturday morning. >> there's going to be criticism any time there is a deputy-involved shooting and we've seen that typically in the last two years or so and that's why we've come out today to be as transparent as we can. >> the deputies have been assigned from field duty as the investigation continues.

>> we're learning more about a deadly motorcycle accident in charles county been it happened yesterday on st. charles parkway near the smallwood village shopping center. john barnett was on his motorcycle when he ran into a car. the car was making a left into the shopping center. the driver of the car is going to be okay. >> annapolis yacht club officials are vowing to rebuild after yesterday's devastating fire. the club's commodore says the yacht club is more than bricks and mortar. it's a community. they hope to find temporary space to get the club up and running again. today maryland governor larry hogan took a tour of the devastation and is pledging state support. >> it's a tragedy, but the wonderful news this holiday season is that they were closed to get ready for the, vent last night so the public wasn't in there, the members weren't there. the staff got out and everyone was safe and there was one minor injury with a firefighter with

the race to the white house and a little bit of a rebound for republican chris christie. the new jersey governor will be on the main stage for tuesday night's debate on cnn. christie didn't make the cut for the last debate due to low poll numbers. there will be eight other front-runners on the stage. christie trading places with mike huckabee who will take part in an earlier debate with three other candidates who have the lowest poll numbers. police are looking for two suspects who stabbed a man and a woman in silver spring. this happened early this morning on georgia avenue right near the d.c. line. both victims were taken to the hospital and they are expected to be okay. police say this was not a random act. they say the suspects knew the man who they stabbed. >> on capitol hill, neighbors hope cookies will see what is behind a crime hike.

there was access to area crime statistics and we just got an email from her and she said the sale raised $1200. she wants to know how many crimes in the area have actually been prosecuted. the department of justice told her it would cost $44 an hour to compile the information thus the bake sale. many of you enjoyed the day outside, the mild temperatures brought a lot of people to georgetown, but amelia says showers later in the day tomorrow will mark the beginning of cooling temperatures over the course of the week. yes, folks, it is december. her forecast is coming up next. metro preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. the disaster drill in

maryland is the latest state to investigate those daily fantasy sports sites. a panel at the state legislature is scheduled to discuss sites like draft kings and fan duel tomorrow. maryland legalized fantasy sport, but the law was tailored to small social groups that play all season long. several states including new york banned the sites calling them an illegal operation. comcast which owns nbc universal has invested in fan duel.

already tracking this rain, you can see it impacting parts of st. louis moving into memphis right now, this continues to track into our area arriving later in the day tomorrow. future weather wants to bring it in in areas like fauquier and culpeper counties and 3:00, though, this is when we'll start to track showers inside of the beltway heading home and here is your evening commute, right around 6:00 p.m. and areas of rain and heavy rain especially in southern maryland and parts of the eastern shore as we work our way into the late evening and overnight hours and another push of rain moves through, and i think that's the cold front moving through and we'll dry out after midnight. the school forecast for tomorrow and maybe some patchy fog and temperatures in the mid-50s and still giving it an a. you can't beat that for this time of the year in december and mostly cloudy skies and it will be in, and by dismissal there is a chance of showers and the temperature is around 70.

on tuesday, we're cool arer ande highs in the mid-60s and partly to mostly sunny skies throughout the day. a cool start, 7:00 a.m. and we're still in the mid-50s and although we're cool or tuesday, temperatures are running 15 to 20 degrees above normal. on wednesday we'll start to drop off more and thursday, a high of 57, showers are looking likely on thursday. we can see rain lingering especially during the morning hours and only a chance of that right now. more importantly, look at the exclamation front and they allow the cooler air to move in. friday and especially saturday and sunday, highs friday near 50, mid-40s, saturday and sunday, erica. >> december is here. >> still ahead, redskins pick up their road win in over a year. their road win in over a year. we go to chicago next.

a little win in chicago. >> a little win. everyone is concerned they came back in a huge way. monday night the redskin, they know they let one slip away against dallas and there was no hangout this week in chicago and the skins came out focused from the very start and players were sick and tired that they can't win on the road after today and they were winning their second division title in the last four years. redskins and bears both in the playoff hunt and both teams are still looking for the sixth win on the year and the redskins came out hot and first quarter, kirk cousins and tight end jordan reid with the second, third, fourth and fifth effort here to get into the end zone and the tight end did review this as his elbow was ruled down at the one before he crossed the goal line there, and he punches it in for his first touchdown of the season and took it 149 carries to get to the end zone

and the skins are up 7-0 and this time it's cousins calling his own number from three yards out and the skins are looking good, up 14-0. the bears scored right before half and third quarter, skins still up a touchdown. reid, five-yard score and we had 120 yards receiving on the day and that score later on. matt forte of the bears getting chicago back in this game, the seven-yard touchdown run there and we're tied at 21. cousins, dropping back, trying to get the skins in field goal range and beautiful pass for desean jackson and would set up a dustin hopkins field goal. under two minutes to go and jay cutler trying to bring the bears back and alshon jeffery. he can't come back with the interception to seal the game. robbie gold in for the game, tying field goal from 50 yards
