>> reporter: this homeowner looks at the damage to his house where an suv slammed into it in the middle of the night. >> they say maybe inside, no damage. >> reporter: four people sleeping inside woke up to a loud boom. prince george's county police say five people were inside this suv. the driver and one passenger went to the hospital. this woman who came by to see the damage says her two daughters were in the truck. she told me they are okay. police say the driver was speeding and lost control on addison road towards sheriff road. they hit a parked car and then swiped this big tree before slamming into the front porch where the vehicle caught fire. the damage to the porch is evident. a mother and three kids who rented this home just two weeks ago are okay but it is unclear if it is safe to come back. >> they rent a couple of weeks

ago. >> reporter: the driver and a passenger went to the hospital. their injuries, not considered serious. we can tell you prince george's police confirmed that speed was a factor in this crash. they are also looking into whether alcohol or drugs also played a role. no word yet on charges this morning. i'm molette green live in fairmont heights, maryland, news 4. >> right now in baltimore, prosecutors are delivering closing arguments in officer william porter's trial. he is charge with manslaughter for freddie gray's death earlier this year. news 4 chris gordon just got off the phone with him. they called the van he died in his casket on wheels, end quote. he is accused of not calling a medic or buckling gray properly in the police van. prosecutors also accused him of not telling the truth. what happens next? porter is one of six police officers charged in gray's

death. defense lawyers will speak next in his trial and then the prosecutors have a rebuttal before the jury deliberates. we are in touch with chris and will bring you any significant developments as they come in. barbara? >> thank you. another new development about that russian jet that crashed in egypt two months ago. egypt's chief investigator says so far no evidence that a terror attack downed the plane. there were 224 people on board. they all died. this was just a preliminary report from egypt, not a conclusion. russian investigators believed there was a bomb on the plane. russia has offered a $50 million award for any information. >> developing right now in fort washington. maryland, prince george's county police are trying to find out who killed a man last night. they found him dead inside a car on tucker road.

the funeral is scheduled for tomorrow morning today, the alexander police department will talk to the community about a pair of murders. two bodies have turned up in two separate parks. the stab wounds on both victims are very similar. no arrests in either case. the meeting at the cora kelly rec center. by the end of the day, "the washington post" will be in a new newsroom. they are moving their 700-member team into a brand new office. the first move in more than 40 years. the new facility is only a couple of blocks away from their current building in northwest washington. the new space will better allow them to handle digital demands. >> she has been breaking just about every record the music industry has. now, adele sets her sites of touring the u.s. and we will tell you when you can see her here in d.c. storm team 4, this large line of rain is heading straight for us.

responsible for wramanslaughter misconduct and reckless endangerment. next, the defense presents their argument and the prosecution will have rebuttal and the case will go to the jury. that's the latest live from baltimore. back to you. we are also monitoring the investigation into a man's death in prince george's county. >> news 4 derrick ward was live at the scene. he is here in the studio with more on what he found out. derrick, good morning. >> good morning. this is going to be an on going investigation. take a look at some of the video from the scene last night. i want you to take a look at the video we see at the car. there is a car amid the mailboxes. you can see the rear end. it was the scene at about 9:45. the call went out for a single car crash. investigators were soon on the scene and realizing that this was, indeed, a homicide. they found the man dead inside that car. now, he was suffering from what police are calling upper body

trauma. the road was closed off for several hours last night while the scene was documented. no identification of the victim, nor any suspect information. early this morning, police did return to the area around the scene. they were focusing on a field just off of tucker road and a house that's quite a distance from the main road. police are saying that the suspect and the victim did know each other. investigators are working to determine just what their relationship was and how it went so bad. live in the studio, derrick ward, back to you. new this morning, we are learning a bicyclist has died after a crash in rockville. 37-year-old samuel vigil died last night. police say he hit a car and was crossing traffic lanes against the pedestrian indicator. the driver of the car was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. maryland lawmakers are taking steps today to talk about fantasy sports. the joint committee on gaining oversight is meeting in just a

few hours. the members will talk about the state law. specifically how it applies to the daily fantasy drop king and fan dual. new york attorney general banned those sites last month saying they are illegal gambling, not games of skill. a new poll from sienna college says 66% of new yorkers agree with the attorney general. the other 34% believe he is wrong. comcast, which owns nbc 4, has invested in fan duals. where is the rain? there is the rain. moderate showers coming into eastern kentucky, ohio, down to tepcy. that's a line advancing closer to us by later this afternoon. brand new model run just coming in. going to show you the latest hour by hour forecast. sprinkles are now coming into fauquier county. the main area of showers is coming in by 3:00 p.m. right now, a little slower than the earlier runs of the model.

those numbers apply to boys and girls younger than 12 years old. >> new details on the san bernardino shooting. a new report finds that it costs the shooters less than $5,000 to plan their deadly attack. two journalists added up the costs of guns and explosive parts and it take to $4500. the report found that most items were relatively easy to father. the lieutenant governor says the ease at which the shooters built them is cause for concern. >> quite a bit of clouds. you see breaks in the clouds looking off to the north. live view from our tower camera. we will have the sunshine coming and going. holiday shopping for today. for the afternoon nd aeveniand we will likely stay dry around 3:00 or 4:00. it is after that. we will likely get showers coming through.

finally reopened the road. >> a florida family wants answers after their son died in a crash they say involved an uber driver. he was on his way back from a christmas party when the car he was riding in collided with a deputy squad car. investigators say one of the cars didn't stop at the red light. they aren't sure which car failed to stop. the victim's brother says he called an uber to get him home from the party. they haven't confirmed whether the driver worked for uber. >> amazon is removing hover boards from their star because of safety concerns. they sent a notice to the manufacturer asking for documentation that the boards meet safety standards. consumer product safety commission told nbc news they have received at least ten reports of whoever board fires. >> things are getting interesting in the presidential race. the new poll numbers that bring a new perspective to which

the los angeles county sheriff office released 911 calls made the night before or the night of the controversial shooting. in the calls, witnesses report a man firing shots in the air. surveillance videos show that nicholas robertson was walking around with a gun in his hands. minutes later, deputies arrive and open fire. we are not showing you the video of the shooting, because it is graphic. deputies fired at robinson as he appeared to crawl away. the sheriff's office says the deputy's actions were justified. >> suspect entering the frame, women and children in hand. there are two women and three children in a car within a gas pump that is in three feet. >> he was crawling on his knees. >> reporter:. >> robinson's relatives call the shooting unjustified. it calls for an independent investigation.
