makes his first apert in court. and the school principal caught up in complaints about a teacher allegedly spanking students in class. now looking for a new job. >> news 4 at 11:00 starts now. >> we start tonight with the weather. in the past hour officials have issued a dense fog advisory for parts of virginia. >> take a look at this live picture at i-66 year manassas and bull run. pretty hazy. the fog isn't the only thing doug is tracking tonight either. our coldest weekend of the season starts tomorrow. right, doug? >> yeah, that's right. we have not seen much in the way of cold air at all over the past couple weeks. we will get some tomorrow and right on into the weekend. let's take a look and show you what's been happening. we saw the rain move off around 4:00, 5:00 and continues to move out. cold air is way back to the west. it has not filtered in just yet. because of that temperatures are still mild and has allowed that fog to form. we have dense fog now, warrenton, leesburg, culpeper.

visibility about a half mile. the dense fog advisory in effect until 3:00 a.m. from fairfax county back to the west, northern virginia, panhandle of west virginia as well as washington county in toward maryland. i've not seen much in the way of fog up in this area. that's some good news. now the fog should dissipate by tomorrow morning. what you're going to notice is much colder air as soon as you step out the front door tomorrow. make sure you take the coat. windchills will be in the 20s by late tomorrow night especially into the day on saturday. as cold as we get this weekend, we got record highs again by christmas eve. i've got the complete forecast coming up. >> thank you, doug. new tonight. prince george's county's fire chief is talking to news 4 about the charges filed in a fight between firefighters. >> yeah, we were first to report this last week. four firefighters got into a physical fight while they were on duty in responding to a house fire. news 4's darcy spencer is live with the update she broke on twitter. >> reporter: that fire broke out

about one week ago right here at this house in lanam. according to documents obtained by news 4, one of the volunteer firefighters allegedly held his arms out like this trying to block the women from going inside. now, i'm told that christopher kelly, one of the volunteers, is a d.c. police officer. two volunteer firefighters charged with assault and obstruction in connection with the fight over who was in charge at a house fire in lanham. christopher kelly and jell miller both volunteers with the west lanham hills fire department. two female career firefighters from the landover hill station were first on the scene at the fire. they were running a hose when they arrived. the accuser says kelly spread his arms to block them from going in and shoved them off the porch. one of the women says miller tried to physically force her out of the house. the fire chief has condemned

their actions. >> have a situation where firefighters are arguing or fighting or tussling over a fire scene is unacceptable. >> reporter: the firefighters could prosecuted under a new maryland law that makes it a felony to assault firefighters or medics while they're performing their job. the charge carries ten years. the obstruction charge, three. there's also an internal investigation. the chief says these turf battles were more common decades ago. >> 30 years ago when i was a young member in the department, there were a lot of times where that kind of thing happened and not just in prince george's county. that was a fire service culture that has changed over the years. >> reporter: back out live. i did reach out to the west lanham hills fire station trying to get comments from those two volunteer firefighters as well as the volunteer fire chief. i have not yet heard back. i'm also told the two volunteers

have not yet provided interviews to give the county their side of what happened here that day. back to you. >> tarsdarcy spencer, thank you the principal of a school in green belt, maryland, is out of a job nearly a year after parents first filed complaints about a teacher who was reportedly spanking students in class. back in october, we reported that principal nasser abi allegedly ignored the complaints. tonight the prince george's county school district let us know abi no longer works there. there is no word yet on a replacement. meantime, the teacher in question is now working at a school in montgomery county. tonight a popular bar in adams morgan has been shut down after a missing college student was found dead right outside of it. paul mcguinness' body was found in an alley behind madam's organ bar. he disappeared after celebrating his cousin's birthday on tuesday night. >> i know that he disappeared

from the bar at 1:00 in the morning. and my son was withaá, him, thot he was coming out of the bathroom. he never came out. he apparently went out the back stairs and fell. is what we think. >> mcguinness had just come home to spend christmas with his family. right now they think his death was an accident. president obama insists that we can all feel safe this holiday season declaring the u.s. free from, quote, specific and credible threats. he'll elaborate tomorrow in his last news conference of the year from the white house. from there, the president heads to california where he will meet privately with family members of some of those killed in the shooting in san bernardino. then he'll head to hawaii for the holidays. news conference is scheduled for 1:50. you can watch it live here on news 4 or on the nbc washington app. the fbi says he not only bought the rifle, he helped plan possible attacks.

now syed farook's friend and former neighbor is accused of providing support to terrorists. nbc's jay gray reports, he made his first court appearance this afternoon and they'll set bail next week. 24-year-old enrique marquez has gone from neighbor to suspect. charged late today with conspiracy to commit crimes of terrorism and federal weapons charges. as the investigation into the san bernardino terror attack continues. federal agents say in 201 1 marquez and syed farook, quote, started planning to use firearms and explosives to carry out terrorist attacks, designed to maximize the number of casualties that could be inflicted. he also according to today's filing purchased the two assault rifles used by farook and his wife tashfeen malik in the massacre that left 14 dead and more than 20 wounded. agents raided his home three days after the attack and two days of marquez posted this cryptic message on social media that said "i'm very sorry, guys, it was a pleasure."

social media continues to be a focus for investigators who now say despite earlier reports, there were no public posts by farook or malik showing allegiance to isis or calling for jihad in the years leading up to their marriage or the attack. >> we have not found that kind of thing. these communications are private, direct messages. not social media messages. >> reporter: as the search for evidence and answers continues. jay gray, nbc news, washington. children in one virginia county are getting a long weekend. augusta county schools, south of harrisonburg, will be closed tomorrow after a controversy over a world geography lesson. last week a teacher asked students to complete an assignment that included arabic calligraphy and writing a muslim statement of faith. parents voiced their concern and objections at a meeting. since then, the county says it's gotten a lot of unwanted attention and decided to close tomorrow as a precaution. there is no specific threat.

the university of mary washington is just now telling students and faculty about a sexual assault that happened nearly a week ago. school officials say a woman was assaulted on campus friday night in fredericks burgs. an officer with the campus is accused of assaulting her. the woman is not affiliated with the university. summers resigned from the department on monday. police arrested him yesterday charging him with forcible sodomy. he is in jail tonight being held without bond. this weekend the parents of a young reporter who was killed in the district will host a holiday party for the children of murder victims. it's part of the family's commitment to keeping their daughter's memory alive. her murder is still unsolved. news 4's jackie bensen sat down with her mother. >> this is not that group that everybody wants to be a part of. >> reporter: imagine how you'd feel watching video of people involved in the shooting of your precious child. speeding away from where she lay on the ground dying.

imagine what it would do to your heart to know that tens of thousands of people followed that video, that hundreds likely know the teens seen in it, and not one has stepped forward. yet francine does not come to the living word church in southwest to vent her anger, she comes to polish her love and forgiveness until they shine as brightly as the words written by her talented journalist daughter, sharnese milton. >> i pray for those who hurt her nightly. >> reporter: she was born and raised in the district. she held a master's degree from syracuse university's prestigious newhouse school of journalism. may 27th, she was returning home from covering a community meeting for the "hill rag" newspaper. she was changing buses on good hope road southeast when gunfire broke out. her family has been told a young man, a stranger grabbed her and used her as a shield. her death was the subject of a profile by "the new yorker" magazine. the author noted milton's desire to cover the community where she

you might be winding down for the night but for "star wars" fans this night has just begun. there are lines around the block at theaters across the country with the nationwide release of "star wars: the force awakens" at midnight. the showings at the uptown theaters and others across our area started at 7:00 tonight. and already fans are gushing about the return of the franchise.

>> i think it did a really good job of taking you through the base story and maybe taking it to the next level. it's fantastic. >> oh, it was wonderful. it's everything i expected and more. i've met a lot of nice twists i'm not going to give away because that would be rude. >> yeah, don't do that. the force is strong all right. especially when it comes to raking in the cash. new "star wars" just broke fandango's record for online ticket sales. that means it beat every other film's entire run before its first showing even started. "the force awakens" also set a record for presales which have already gone over the $100 million mark. some analysts say, boy, oh boy, it could bring in as much as $240 million this weekend in the u.s. alone. in fact, if you only count presales, "star wars" already surpassed "the hobbit" the previous december record holder and if it hits the quarter of a billion dollar mark, it's going to beat "jurassic" world for

"the force awakens" is exceeding the hype. rotten tomato gave it a 95% rating and 8 out of 10 on imdb. to some he's the most hated man in america. known for wildly inflating the price of a life-saving hiv drug. tonight 32-year-old pharmaceutical ceo martin shkreli is accused of creating an elaborate ponzi scheme, stole more than $11 million from his former pharmaceutical company to pay off investors in another one of his businesses, a failed hedge fund. the feds call it a web of lies and deceit that could land him in prison for 20 years. shkreli pleaded not guilty in court today. he's out on $5 million bail. new at 11:00, the chesapeake bay bridge should be able to handle traffic for another 50 years according to a new life cycle cost analysis report.

engineers can safely maintain it through the year 2065. at that point the eastbound span will be 113 years old and the westbound span 92. maryland officials say it's hard to project maintenance needs beyond that. we see her on news 4 every morning. tonight, our own took on a different role as the merry widow. made a cameo performance in the nutcracker performed by the washington ballet at the warner theater. each year the ballet asks notable washingtonians to take part in the production. the nutcracker runs through december 27th. >> nerve-racking. >> i'm sure she loved it. i'm sure she loved it. her family probably in the audience. >> they asked me to be the su r sugarplum fairy. >> i was waiting for that. >> i tried out. did not go well. >> no tutu for you? >> it didn't fit. some locations seeing fog. others not much at all. that includes down around town. see the wind blowing.

any time we have a little bit of wind that really helps to get rid of the fox so no problems here tonight. right now the temperatures, 53 degrees. that's actually one of the warmest temperatures we've seen today. winds out of the northwest at 7 miles per hour. the rest of the area still very mild. we've seen the front move through but the cold air is still lagging behind so the coldest air will be here tomorrow morning. because we're still on the warm side, because we have the rain, we have seen the fog. look where it is. leesburg, manassas, culpeper, charlottesville. these are the areas that have the dense fog advisory in effect until 3:00 in the morning. no dense fog advisory in d.c. you can see why. 10 mile visibility. no problem in frederick. no problem over toward annapolis. cambridge coming in at about half mile toward the eastern shore. there's the end of the rain. the rain continues to move off toward the east. in behind it that colder air is coming. you can actually see it on the satellite picture here. notice right here, see this line? that's the cold air creeping in across our region. and it will be here by early tomorrow morning. so what does that mean for you?

it means you're going to be wearing the coat tomorrow. the winter coat. we've been wearing the jakts some days not even that. it's been so warm. tomorrow it will be the winter coats, the scarf, hat, maybe the gloves, too. if you're going out tomorrow night, a cold friday i venning. remember that, too. 43 gaithersburg. 46 in washington. 48 in fredericksburg. yeah, it's cold but that's exactly where we should be this time of year. average high temperature is now 46 degrees. but it will have a pretty significant impact on your day because we have not seen much in the way of this cold air and it's going to be breezy if not windy tomorrow. windchills all day tomorrow will be in the 30s. so it's going to be a cold one. that's nothing compared to where we are on saturday.windchills 2. 27 to 32 at noon. even in the afternoon, the windchill only 30 to 35. so a very cold saturday for sure. but here's the thing. we warm right back up. we go down to 43 on saturday for a high temperature. again, most areas feeling that windchill around 30 most of the day. we get to 46 on sunday.

not a bad day at all with plenty of sunshine. matter of fact, if you're hitting the redskins game, we need this win, guys as we take on the bills. looking pretty good. although it will be cold. if you're tail gating, 36 at 10:00. 44 by game time. plenty of sunshine. not worried about that. if will be rather chilly. high temperatures around 46. if you're in the shade of the stadium over there at fedex, yeah, that's going to be a cold place to be. but look what happens. we get to 56 on monday. see the trend here? yeah. back to 56 monday. then we get to 62 on tuesday. chance of a shower on tuesday. better chance of shower on wednesday. the high of 65 degrees. and look at next thursday. of course, that is christmas eve. going for a high of 70. and it's very rare. i predict a record high. >> that's just not right. >> it's really not right. i mean, that would be a record high for the day. to predict that seven days out, that tells you the pattern is really there. we're going to be very warm for christmas eve, very warm for christmas as well though there may be a cold front that comes through just in time for

under dusty baker with the reds. he has power. he slugged 18 home runs two seasons ago. 12 this past year. the second baseman is also a four-time gold glove award winner. phillips has two years and $27 million remaining on his current contract. moving on to football now. the redskins want to slow down the bills' offense this sunday, keeping lesean mccoy in check could be a good start. from his time with the eagles the skins know how explosive mccoy can be but this defense, however, they've shown the last three games stopping the run is no longer an issue for them. they haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher during that stretch. mccoy playing his first full season in buffalo helping the offense average 141 yards on the ground. that is third best in the nfl. shady mccoy spent his first six seasons in philadelphia. the eagles -- the redskins saw number 25 plenty of times. while with the eagles he averaged over 115 total yards a
