into this holiday workweek. let's go ahead and take a look outside. boy, is it beautiful. lucky you, not only do we get that win, but it was just a nice day for a football game. temperatures in the low 40s and the mid to upper 40s today and those winds are at 80 miles an hour and clouds are rolling in right now and we have the clouds continue to roll in and we will see some rain chances. most of your monday looking dry as rain will arrive in the evening, but tomorrow is not the only day we have rain, tuesday, wednesday, thursday and with record-breaking temperatures, we'll have the seven-day in just a few minutes. >> redskins fans were fired up for the final regular season home game. today could have been the last time you see the redskins play at fedex field and that is unless the team makes the playoff. the team took a big step toward that goal against the bills. hey, carol. >> did they ever, erika.

'tis the season to start believing. the redskins beat the eagles next saturday and they win the division and they make the playoffs. they host the playoff game so they're making a list and checking it twice and who was balling today and at the top was the star quarterback kirk cousins. let's take a look at a couple of the highlights and kirk cousins, he now, with 22 completions today. he has the most completions in team history. redskins are up 14-0 and second-quarter cousins, and firing a strike to jordan reed and one of two on the day for reed and redskins up 21-0 in the half and in the third quarter, captain kirk keeps rolling and airs it out for desean jackson who makes a great play and after the great move, one catch and gone and 77 yards in the house and cousins, four touchdowns passing and no interceptions on the day and one rushing touchdown and the redskins lead with back-to-back wins for the

a device made out of cardboard, paper and a household timer. someone hid it behind a mirror in the bathroom. the plane landed safely and hundreds of passenger quickly evacuated down the emergency slide. >> the plane went down slowly, slowly, slowly and we realized probably something was wrong that the personnel of air france was great and they were wonderful to keep everyone calm and very quiet. >> nobody was injured in this incident. passengers were taken to local hotels. air france has stepped up their security since the deadly paris attacks. the airline ceo says the device was likely placed in the bathroom after the flight had taken off. all right. lots to talk about in decision 2016 and the democratic candidates clashed during last night's debate and one comment making republicans go after hillary clinton, donald trump not holding back after clinton said isis is using him as a recruiting tool. nbc's edward lawrence on the

a university professor under fire that the sandy hook massacre and other shootings never happened. florida atlantic university james tracy is standing by his claims. the school is taking steps to terminate him. tracy has a book called, quote, "nobody died at sandy hook," the death of 20 students and adults was a hoax." a new study out of california state university shows hate crimes against muslims has tripled in the recent weeks and the bulk of them happening after the san bernardino shootings. today hundreds of the faithful from several denominations set out on a pilgrimage in the

violence or their family members to be forgotten about during the holiday season and some are calling for what they call common-sense reforms that would make the community safer from gun violence. montgomery county's police chief as well as the county executive were among elected leaders who were speaking here this afternoon, some calling for universal background checks and the gun-permitting process as well as the sale of ammunition. we first start with the mother of billy mitchell who was gunned down in d.c. in 2011. >> when i hear folks saying, well, how can we possibly do registration, gun registration? how can we not have gun registration? how can we not? >> anybody can go on the internet and buy any kind of ammunition they want. the fact is that we continue to sell high-capacity magazine s that have no purpose for hunting, sporting or other

and we also have questions on christmas day. right now i have christmas day dry. i'll go ahead and tell you, but it does look like we could have some rain chances and maybe sneak back in to the forecast. temperatures out there right now in the mid to upper 40s today ask we're right around 40 degrees and we'll fall into the 30s and that is it because of the cloud cover rolling in and that will act as an insulator and insulate us as we go into the overnight and we'll be in the 30s and not quite as chilly as last night and as you make your way to work tomorrow, maybe school. i know some of those kids still have school this week, we do look like we'll warm up into the mid-50s. so we will be dry most of the day by the afternoon, late afternoon we'll start to see some showers creeping in, but most of the showers will stay west of us, so your planner if you want to go exercise i would do it in the morning and get it out of the way and holiday lights and take a tour around the neighborhood and go a little on the early side only because

and you get a touchdown pass, and i get a touchdown pass! >> it was again today. second straight week he was unbelievable, kirk cousins and the redskins, they are starting to come together at the perfect time this season and last week they won their first road game of the year and today another first for the fellows back-to-back victories and when the giants lost to the panthers and the skins can wrap up the division with a victory next week in philadelphia, but here's how it went down today and a couple of hall of fame eros hand and that was jim kelly and of course, the redskins head coach joe gibbs. that is the offensive coordinator downed up this play and kirk cousins rolling out and calling his own number and the two-hand touch and he's by the end zone and fifth rushing touchdown of the season and the second among the quarterbacks and the skins are up 14-0 and later on, cousins to jordan reed at the 18-yard touchdown and

reed had two scores on the day and the skins are up 21-0 and how about the defense and nice goal line stand here on third down and back from lesean mccoy short of the goal line there and at the second half and it's a 21-3 game and cousins isn't letting up just yet and by desean jackson and he makes the bil bills' secondary, and that's the 77-yard touchdown catch and he had 154 yards in this game and the redskins were up 17-3 and later on, trying to come back and down 18 and tyrod taylor finds sammy watkins up top and buffalo has the momentum. and he drove the offense right down the field and 75 yards, and it was capped off by this touchdown with pierre garcon and the redskins win this one by a final score of 25-35 and they won back-to-back this time and

with that we bring in carol maloney. carol, a huge win today which sets up a big game next week against the philadelphia eagles. what are they saying about this contest today? >> they had a lot to say and before i get to that i wanted to tell you i tweeted a picture of the scene here a few minutes ago and all of the sprinklers were on and there was only one reason to do that because even though today was the final game of the regular season, far from over and you talk about the one win they need in philly and they win the division and they come back here at the end and the beginning of january at the end of the year and the regular season and they host a playoff game. crazy talk, right? so the mood afterward, like the holiday season, joyful. >> we're number one! >> it feels great. really being a meaningful december game to take care of business the way we're supposed to take care of will be in the first place of philly and to be
