pulled out a gun and shot the man in the living room and it's just a few doors down from where we are and we had an opportunity to speak with neighbors who met with the family and they tell us we're they're shocked. the sights and sounds of christmas are everywhere. we're looking at christmas, yes, they are and the sounds many woke up to just after midnight monday morning were unexpected and unusual. >> i thought, what the heck is going on? why am i awake? i rolled over and went back to sleep. while debbie baker was sleeping. montgomery county police were investigating a murder down the street from her home. police say 35-year-old francisco trujillo was hosting a holiday party when trujillo opened fire, killing perez in the living room. >> cindy has known the trujillo family for more than two years.

credit or debit cards at metro fare machines the transit system tells us you can use plastic once again. jackie bensen is live at the tinnily town station talking to passengers about the fiasco today. jackie? >> they tell us that things are back to normal now, but for most of the day to get one of these, you had to use one of these. now since more and more people are not carrying cash, that did cause a problem as people were in the system and tried to get money to get where they were going and we were told that metro, and they took it upon themselves to get people moving and get people going in some cases telling them that they were able to get through a certain gate without having to pay the fare and if they didn't have cash and didn't expect to be put in that situation. just a short time ago, metro let us know that they had resolved the issue through their vendors and that the fare card machines at the stations were again, able to take credit and debit cards. the only bright side in this whole thing is with people out

wait indefinitely for an apology he demand from hillary clinton this morning after she called him the best recruiter for isis during the democratic debate saturday, clinton said isis is using videos of trump's comments about muslims as a recruiting tool. trump says there's no evidence to suggest that's actually happening and demanded an apology on the "today" show this morning. the clinton campaign spokesperson said, quote, no, he doesn't help isis recruit. >> it will take steps to combat growing islamophobia during the election cycle. the council said it's launching a campaign that it calls one america. plans a national open mosque day. organizers say in the wake of the paris and san bernardino attacks, hate crimes against muslims are on the rise. >> we anticipate anti-muslim hate speech two or three months before the election, but to

developing tonight, the woman who is accused of mowing down p/eed pettedestrians on th strip could appear in court tomorrow on charges of murder. lakeisha holloway injured at least 35 people and killing one.

this happened while her 3-year-old child was in the car with her. we do know she's originally from oregon and appeared to be living out of her car for a week. they also described her as stoic after the crash. police in richmond tonight say they're alarmed by a spike in gun violence over the weekend that included the death of a 12-year-old girl. two men are in custody tonight from the shooting that police believe stemmed from an ongoing dispute. amia moses was hit by a stray bullet. >> she celebrated her 12th birthday 17 days ago, instead of celebrating for christmas and the holidays the mom is planning a found ral for her baby. >> the family members of the two men charged in that case convicted them -- convinced them to turn themselves in. >> our local airports are very actives people come and go for this holiday weekend. if you don't want to ruin the

the winds have been gusting and winds upward of 15 miles per hour out of the south and that's well above average and our average high is 45 degrees and we're well above that right now by 10 to 15 degrees and only 46 in frederick and more cloud cover again and it has been on the cool side and here's some shower activity and back to the west of winchester and i do expect to make its way over the next hour or so and you can see the wider view here and you can see the system making its way our way, too and it's the frontal boundary associated with an area of low pressure well to the north and west and that keeps us in the warm air and it also gives us the chance of rain and overnight tonight, not much of a chance and most of it should stay to the west of the mountains and by tomorrow morning we start to get into showers right around the morning rush. it may affect you when you're stepping out the front door and most of this will be on the light side and we will see roadways to give yourself extra time tomorrow morning. tomorrow afternoon around noon, not bad. maybe a couple of showers and

we're learning new details about a deadly shooting at a holiday party inside a maryland home. the man hosting that party in damascus is now facing murder

>> new technology to help prevent derailments like this one is now active on amtrak tracks between philadelphia and new york. it's called positive train control and it uses gps and tracking systems to automatically stop trains that are in danger of derailing because they're going too fast or if there is the possibility of a collision. investigators say that system could have prevented the amtrak derailment in philly this last may that killed eight people. the system was activated between d.c. and philly last week. >> bmw north america will have to pay a hefty penalty now after traffic safety officials say the company violated requirements to issue a recall for its 2014-15 mini coopers. the national highway traffic safety administration imposed a
