american troops that were part of a nato convoy today that happened near bagram airfield and that's a major u.s. base. officials say a bomber rammed an explosive-laden motorcycle and names of the victims won't be released until tomorrow. two other american service members were injured. the united states condemns this cowardly attack on members of the u.s. and afghan forces and we remain committed to supporting the afghan people and their government. the taliban is claiming responsibility for this attack. a recent pentagon report says the violence in afghanistan has increased in recent months. the white house, one of the leading voices on national security and the military is out of the race. senator lindsay graham suspended his campaign today just as donald trump claims he's the victim of hillary clinton's lives. nbc's edward lawrence joins us from capitol hill from the ever-interesting and ever-changing race.

credit cards. it's a story all of you are following on the nbc washington app. they would not accept any debit cards and credit card transactions worked for a while if they were less than $20. a lot of riders who had to add value to their card were forced to come up with cash. it lasted seven to eight hours. now to an isis threat in montgomery county. the news 4 i-team learned an employee of a major federal agency was named on a hit-list. >> the fbi found the threat and beefed up security. now our scott macfarlane broke the story. >> federal law enforcement records say the woman targeted has no ties to isis, but the fbi warned her she's on isis' target list. >> the national institute of standards and technology have thousands of employees and the regency in guyingersburg near i-270 is a well-secured sweeping campus. it was one of the workers on that campus named on an isis hit-list according to police

records obtained by news 4. a woman who got the official warning from an fbi agent who was investigating. the woman was told the fbi would monitor the situation and that an extra patrol would be given to her while she was in the area of the campus. >> homeland security analyst says these types of hit-lists are surfacing with increasing frequency. >> very few instances where we see a real clear link to where i'm attacking this because isis said so. it's the new normal and has been for several years. >> it included more than 1400 names according to reports. the fbi spokeswoman tells news 4 when we get any information against a person or business, criminal or national security in nature we alert those people and businesses. we have a duty to warn anyone who the threat was made against and we do all we can to mitigate. craig rice represents part of the campus and a large part of its workforce and says the news

shows maryland has high-value targets and if they funnel more grant money to police to help them protect the community. >> understanding the importance of the installations like the one right behind me to help us to work together to ensure that even in tough budget times we're not losing ground when it comes to ensuring is the security and safety of these installations. a spokeswoman says we have followed fbi protocols in addressing this situation and have shared the relevant and important security information with all parties involved. doreen? >> scott macfarlane, thank you. new developments tonight from california. the friend and former neighbor of one of the san bernardino shooters will stay in jail. enrique marquez, jr., is accused of buying and giving two assault rifles to syed farook and his wife tashfeen malik. the couple used those rifles to kill 14 people in those california attacks. the judge said marquez isn't believed to be a flight risk, but he does consider him a threat to the community.

prosecutors said marquez may have conspired with farooq k th never came to fruition. police carry the out those raids in brussels and two brothers and two other men were cane in to questioning and police say they found no explosives or weapons. investigators thought the five may have been in contact with the alleged paris attackers. the mastermind of those attacks is still on the run. if you're flying this week you're going to have plenty of company and the tsa wants an extroo high on those busy and sometimes chaotic security headlines. and they're working with the tsa in dulles to give us an insight into some of the tactics you don't see. with the holiday rush in full swing, we are working the tsa checkpoint line. how many layers of security are actually right here at the security checkpoint?

developing tonight, the centers for disease control is investigating a new outbraining of e. coli at chipotle. five people got sick in november after eating in restaurants in kansas, north dakota and oklahoma. the cdc says this is a different strain of e. coli and not the same one that made 53 people sick in oregon and washington state. the chipotle spokesman told cnbc

hearing from police saying that they had no idea who the grinch was decided to give them some of their own christmas decorations and they're holding on to their holiday spirit. first were the reindeer and santa in the plain is the favorite and the elf on the shelf is the most recent addition. jennifer drake and her family have been decorating their lake ridge yard for christmas ever since they first got the house. >> over the years people have always stopped and said how much they enjoy seeing the decorations, what kind of joy it brings them and brings them into the christmas spirit. at the end of every long and winding cable is an inflatable. dozens of inflatables all over the yard, a force to be reckoned with. every year they added more and more inflatable until the whole yard just blew up. >> drake says it started with her dad wanted to do something for the grandkids. >> why do you like that one? >> because it's -- it's chilly.

auto ridge road in damascus. meagan fitzgerald tells us what the homeowner said to police just before his arrest. >> reporter: police say a h holiday party, the victim was drunk when he was shot and killed inside the living room. these aren't the type of lights neighbors expected to see. >> i thought what the heck is going on and why am i awake. montgomery county police were investigating a murder. investigators say 35-year-old francisco frank trujillo hosted a holiday party at his home sunday night. police say frank and his guest mario perez got into an argument. according to an arrest report frank's wife called 911 said her husband's friend mario was really drunk and had threatened us. she also told dispatchers, quote, mario had been shot by her husband frank.

when police arrived they say mario was found shot to death in the living room. trujillo along with his wife and another woman were also inside. the arrest report says before trujillo was arrested he said that the victim was shot in the chest and that he was, quote, sorry. >> that's just insane. i -- what causes people to do stuff like that? that's horrible. >> baker says she can't believe a murder took place just yards away from her home, but even more disturbing is that it happened just five days before christmas. neighbors say trujillo has two young children and it is still unclear whether or not they were home at the time of the murder. trujillo is due in court tomorrow for a bond hearing. reporting in damascudamascus, m fitzgerald, news 4. >> an argument between two men left one of them dead. he shot terrell blake in landover. it happened around 5:30

yesterday on bright seed road. >> now to a developing story in new hampshire. nashua public schools will be open tomorrow after a threat closed schools there today. at a news conference police said they would have an increased presence at all schools in nashua. the superintendent received the threat by email and he said the threat was very specific that's why he made the decision to keep the children at home. >> it was specific in terms of naming the two high schools by name where the action would occur. it was specific to today's date saying today is the day that harm would be done to students and it was specific deciding the means by which students would be harmed. >> state and federal officials are still investigating who sent that email. a principal got fired from a prestigious school in prince george's courty and now says he's going to appeal that decision. nasir abi is accused of ignoring

>> reporter: we started at the glen arden community center and we're here in the community where the mother received all of these gifts. just a few minutes ago this entire neighborhood was lit up with police cars and with fire engines and santa claus was here and i'm telling you, it made for a very special christmas for this family. it was a parade of public safety and maryland park and planning police gathered his brothers and sisters from across agencies to honor a family in glen arden. he was inspired by a little boy who reminded him of himself when he was growing up in glen arden. >> i was able to meet him, and i saw that there's little randy right there, and i chose this family to be my secret santa and what you will see today is just my fellow officers to help me out to show this young randy hey, we're here. >> with motorcycles rumbling and sirens going, they made the big surprise to the carter family. >> today santa claus comes to

>> a developing story in las vegas. we're learning more about a woman who drove her car on to a sidewalk on the busy vegas strip killing one person. police believe lakeisha holloway intentionally drove into the crowds of tourists. her 3-year-old daughter was in the backseat with her, but not hurt. today they believe holloway had a falling out with the little girl's father just before the incident and they think she was under the influence of a stimulant. one woman died and dozens of others were hurt. holloway was charged with murder. 50 visitors are back on solid ground tonight after getting stuck part of the way up at seaworld's iconic skytower. the ride's cabin malfunctioned this afternoon and stranded the riders about 100 feet in the air. it took about two hours, but engineers were able to get that cabin to come back down. the tower is, like, 400 feet tall and it's a centerpiece in

temperatures, 57 degrees at the airport and temperatures dropping throughout the next couple of hours and not much at all with the south wind, 56 degrees next hour. mild, mild and mild. we do have showers just off to the north and west and look at numbers and the average high is 45 and we're well above that and 57 manassas and 52 over toward manassas. we do have rain in through loudoun county and the frederick county and northern portions of montgomery county and nothing around the d.c. metro area and it's right off to the west and right up around leesburg to frederick and over toward urbana and damask as, and you will see shower activity move through your region, but this is all moving up to the north and east. if you're in bethesda i think you'll stay to the dry side. this is just a very light area of rain moving through and
