media. >> we haven't determined to the exact fact what the motive was. we believe that she had some disassociation with the father of her child. >> holloway's daughter is in protective custody now. authorities say they had been living in a car for about a week. a new trial date has been set for baltimore police officer william porter. he was first of six officers to go on trial for the death of freddie gray. that trial ended in a mistrial. a new trial for porter will begin in mid-june. the next officer to go to a jury is caesar goodson, the driver of the police van. investigators say gray died of a spinal injury he received in the back of that van in april. goodson's trial begins january 6th. we're learning new details about a stabbing in petworth. sources tell news 4 that jose ochoa was texting with a girl

and arranged to meet her near a park that night. his body was found in front of an abandoned building near the rec center. police have no suspect or motive for the stabbing now. it could be a long ride home today for students in charles county, maryland. a letter home to parents warning about a possible bus strike. hill called for substitutes but said some drivers may have to complete multiple routes. adam tuss will join us with more on what parents need to know. new promises today in decision 2016. hillary clinton tells usa today if elected she will increase spending on alzheimer's research. she wants to spend $2 billion every year on finding a cure. the disease disproportionately affects women and minority voters. clinton plans to make her proposal at a campaign stop in faiield, iowa. the war of words continues between clinton and gop front-runner donald trump. clinton flatly refuses to apologize for accusing trump of creating propaganda for isis.

it is 15 before the hour. developing now, we're learning more about the six u.s. service members killed in an attack in afghanistan. that attack east of the bagram air base is the deadliest strike against americans since 2012. nbc's tracie potts is on capitol hill for us with the latest on this. >> we're learning more about the six americans killed including a new york police detective, detective joseph lemm, who was on loan with air national guard, working out of that base in afghanistan. they were on a ruoutine patrol when the suicide bomber hit, drove a motorcycle on to the base and killed six americans and injured two others including an interpreter. as you said, this was the biggest casualty count we had for americans there in three years. remember, the u.s. has nearly 10,000 people that were leaving there, president obama said, in order to help train and advise and assist the afghans in going

her an extra patrol while she is on or near the gaithersburg campus. security analysis -- analysts say these types of lists are becoming more common. >> very few instances in where we see a real clear link to i'm attacking this because isis said so, it is the new normal, has been for several years. >> montgomery county council member craig white says this shows maryland has high value targets and more grant money should be used to help local police protect the community. five tennessee police officers who killed a lone gunman received purple hearts. you may remember the shooting back in july. mohammad yousef abdul aziz killed five people in chattanooga. president obama called it an act of terror. the police officers got into a gun battle with the suspect and killed him. chattanooga's mayor says they braff bravely rushed toward danger. prosecutors say 24-year-old enrique marquez planned an attack on a community college

with syed farook. the two also planned to shoot people along a california highway. marquez is accused of giving rifles to farook and his wife to carry out the december 2nd attack that killed 14 people. marquez is not expected to enter a plea until next month. an updated bob mcdonnell corruption case. he filed with the supreme court monday, officially making his case for an appeal. he says the government's interpretation of an official action is wrong. he also criticized how the jury was reviewed before the case. last year mcdonnell and his wife maureen were found guilty of trading political influence for $165,000 in gifts and loans. some high schoolers in virginia could be a step closer to getting new names. some high schools. our media partner wtop says the fairfax county school board made a policy change that would allow the board to rename a school if there is a compelling need. there have been some push to rename jeb stewart, robert e.

you'll be smiling before the day is done as the rain will not last all day long. you will need your umbrella out the door first thing this morning and a lot of rain if you're traveling today, south along i-85 or i-95. look out. if you're flying and changing planes in raleigh, charlotte, or atlanta, could have slowdowns there. little weather front out here across parts of our west that doesn't get through here until late in the day today and into tomorrow. look at all that heavy rain now across the carolinas. that big plume of moisture is coming in our direction. rain chances are going up, up, up for the next hour or two. but still coming back down later this afternoon. here is our future weather, high resolution model, updated hourly, look at the moderate periods of rain between the metro, 8 and 10:00. heaviest rain across parts of southern maryland. by lunch time, though, looks look a little bit of a break in the action trying to come our way. and check this out, by 2:00, most everybody should be done with the rain. clouds will thin out a little bit. sun goes down just before 5:00. might get a sliver or two of
