"news 4 today" continues right now at 5:00 a.m. "news 4 today" begins with breaking news. >> i'm megan mcgrath live in silver spring where a body was found late last night along the northwest branch trail. now the discovery was made just a little bit after 11:00 last night. the body was found in a creek alongside that trail. now this is the section of the trail near the inner loop of the beltway. no word on how the person died, whether there's foul play involved or not. we still are awaiting word on that from police. we also don't know whether the person who was found is a man or a woman. an autopsy is going to be performed later.

now police are asking anyone with information to please call investigators. this, again, happened last night a little after 11:00. police could use some help in trying to piece together exactly what happened. back to you in the studio. and right now more breaking news on the roads here. inner loop between rockville pike and connecticut avenue, just got off the phone with the police, that has cleared to the side of the roads. we won't have to worry about that too much longer. crash virginia side of the key bridge, that one is hanging around. 66 and 95, both of them looking pretty good. you are at speed there. windshield wipers, you'll see some fog out there this morning. chuck bell, a lot of fog on all of these cameras here. >> absolutely right. visibility is down well under a mile across many locations early this morning and dense fog advisory goes until 10:00 for northern maryland, eastern west virginia and the shenandoah valley. i expect they'll exnand into the

eighth street northwest. d.c. police are questioning a girl achuoa met a week ago. they agreed to meet near the park on sunday. she showed up with two people. his body was found down the block from the park. his family is devastated. >> he's all i had. he's my big brother. he took care of me. now i have nobody to look over me. >> there will be a candlelight vigil. ochoa was a senior at the school. a new clue in a bizarre shooting in rockville. police say they found a bullet in the woods on martin's lane. this he hope it will lead them to the person who fired several shots in that area monday night. one of the bullets hit a woman while she was driving. she is expected to be okay. rockville police think someone may have been illegally hunting a deer in that area. the man shot by an off duty officer at union station has died. the washington post reports that rashaad bug bay cut a woman who

was trying to stop him from hurting himself outside of union station. the 25-year-old then went inside where the officer saw him carrying a knife. the officer says that bug bay came at him so he fired. an autopsy did not reveal how he died. i'm angie goff at the live desk with this just in. some incredible video out of china. let's get straight to it. it's a rescuer at the huge landslide in the country, they are pulling out a man who was trapped in the dirt for 67 hours, buried alive. this is unbelievable. the man was dehydrated and he was hurt badly. he had some broken bones. tissue damage as well, we're told. he's 21 years old. was working inside an industrial park when he got trapped under a door. 74 others still missing after the massive landslide in china. >> incredible rescue. man accused of fatally shooting a guest in his montgomery county home heads to court. the shooting happened 5r7b9d

midnight on monday on ridge road in damascus. he's charged with first degree murder. damascus road montgomery county is back open after a deadly accident. police say 20-year-old david harris crashed into a utility poll. that happened around 6:30 last night. it was easy for police to track down a thief in an arundle county as it was all caught on camera. michael leonard was waiting to renew his sex offender registration on friday. after watching a delivery guy drop off a package, he snapped it up, sat down for a second, then takes the package to his car. he walked back into the police station and reregistered as if nothing had happened. after watching surveillance video police headed to leonard's home in kroft ton and arrested him. the package was given to its owner. now to decision 2016.

erica. >> reporter: hi, aaron. we are live in arlington along 395. as chuck was mentioning, as he's been mentioning all morning, take a look right over beside me. that's the air force memorial. normally you can see that and this morning you can barely make it out, much less the peaks on the air force memorial. please be careful on the roads. give yourself a little extra time this morning. give your tires a check before you leave and make sure there's a roadside kit in the case. it's december 23rd, otherwise known as the get away day. people bolting out of town to get to grandma's for christmas. a lot of people will take to the skies as well, but most people will hit the roads. the biggest thing that's helping people escape for the holidays are the gas prices. incredible. well below $2 in most parts around here. some people taking pictures. the last couple days i saw $1.47, i've seen $1.60 something. by the new year you're looking at prices the lowest they've

lakeisha holloway faces a list of charges after driving her car into pedestrians in las vegas. one person died and dozens are hurt. today the man accused of shooting at a colorado planned parenthood clinic is in court. robert dear faces charges. three people died including a police officer. 5:19. today you can honor the memory of a montgomery county police officer killed in the line of duty. the department is hosting a blood drive in honor of officer noah leotta. a suspected drunk driver hit the 24-year-old who died of his injuries earlier this month. today's blood drive runs from 8:00 until 3:00 at the montgomery county public safety headquarters. new developments in the fight over marriage licenses. kentucky governor matt bevins said they will no longer need the county clerk's signature. his executive order follows a nationwide controversy surrounding the woman you see here. county clerk kim davis refused to issue licenses to same-sex

now down to 1/4 of a mile. dulles is down to 3/4 of a mile and some patchy, dense fog. a little bit of drizzle around, too, this morning. grab an umbrella. we'll be dealing with this dense fog for another several hours. right now we have breaking news on the roads. what's going on, melissa? >> breaking news right now. this problem on metro, orange, blue, silver lines right now. single tracking. single tracking in two different spots. first between smithsonian and mcpherson square and stadium and eastern market. they're calling this a track issue. no details on what's happening now. when we do, we'll pass it along. big look at the beltway. inner loop and outer loop looking good. 95 from 32 down to the beltway going to take you ten minutes. no problems there. heading northbound, also looking good there on 95. trying to make that get away today. 66 at sudley, this is what we're dealing with this morning kind of all over the place. a little hazy. same thing as you're taking a live look at 270.

aaron? >> melissa, thank you. 5:24 right now. sad reunion in the day ahead. the family of staff sergeant steven talb about receive his body at dover air force base. he's one of six american killed by a suicide bomber on monday. his father tells us he couldn't be prouder of his son. the news though is devastating. >> it's the first attack americans have had in quite a while. >> yeah. >> and to have it happen to my son, i just can't get my head around it. >> talb's mother and brother own a restaurant in d.c. you can see a sign and an american flag in the window saying the restaurant will be closed while the family mourns the loss of their hero. flags will fly at half staff in honor of ypd detective joseph lemm. he, too, was killed in the suicide bombing. major adrianna leaves behind a wife and little boy.

she is the first openly gay american female officer to be killed in combat. louis bonacassa watts on his fourth tour. 28-year-old michael cinco was from the rio grand valley and chester mcbride had been a college football standout. a man now headed to prison for a shooting at a high school earlier this year. brandon earl tyler pled guilty to shooting a 14-year-old and 15-year-old outside of frederick high school. the shooting happened back in february. they say tyler and the teenagers were members of rival gangs. tyler will be in prison for 12 years. today is the last day that d.c.'s public service commission will hear details on the exlon and pepco merger. the group will hand deliver opposition letters to the commission's offices in northwest washington. d.c. is one of the fastest growing places in the country. new"qvu data from the kren cuss

month's deadly paris attacks. officials want churches to keep one door open instead of multiple doors. france's interior minister assured religious leaders, quote, everything is being done to guarantee security. 130 people died in a series of coordinated attacks around paris last month. american secret service agent is missing his gun and badge this morning. that's because a criminal took the items right out of the alt's car. the thief also escaped with a radio and flash drive. this all happened monday less than two blocks from agency headquarters downtown. the news 4 iteam has a new investigation into one of this year's hottest christmas gifts. your new drone could get you in hot water with the law. the iteam found a fast-rising number of close calls between drones and police helicopters or other life saving flights. the report shows drones have interfered, even detoured planes that were fighting fires. >> we're not going to kill

county is now facing theft charges. he snapped up a package that was delivered, sits down for a second and took the package to his car. he walked back into the police station and reregistered as if nothing happened. it was all caught on camera. police went to his home in kroft ton and arrested him. outrage in washington state where thousands of inmates were released early over the last 13 years. >> it is totally unacceptable and frankly it is maddening. >> prison officials just revealed the problem. they say a computer did not add up good time credit properly leading to more than 3,000 prisoners' early release. the family of a prisoner discovered the problem three years ago. a handful of the prisoners are being ordered to go back to prison now. an autopsy should reveal more today about a woman's death. she collapsed monday as police escorted her out of a hospital in tallahassee.
