before the campaign ramps up for 2016. nbc's edward lawrence looks at how the campaigns on the battle trail could carry over into the new year. edward, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we could maybe get that break for a couple of days. senator marco rubio is going to have 60 family members over to celebrate. this campaign seems to have no playbook. they're saying at one point he wants to halt all muslim visitors from coming into the country. that tone carried over to some of the other candidates. senator ted cruz started a fresh attack on senator marco rubio friday saying he criticized the spending bill congress just passed but didn't bother to show up to vote against it. democratic front-runner hillary clinton's press secretary says they're upset that bernie sanders' staffers tried to get
