taking place at public charter school. if you take a look behind me, you can see there are still a few people from the vigil, but he was remembered as a good friend, a good student and someone who believes in justice and in peace. dozens of friends and family members walked in a procession from jose ochoa's home to the school where he attended in the last four years. he also went by the name alex. we are told education was the 17-year-old's priority and he had an accepted into a couple of colleges. hinns principal and teachers spoke highly of him and he did volunteer work, he played football and was very peaceful. he was stabbed to death after making plans to meet a girl at a park one week ago. >> you can tell this was one of the students who felt this was his home. he was one of the good ones and he was the student of all things you would never think that he would lap to one of those types,

reserved, but very humble and mature. >> very sad. jose was a great young man that was loved by so many of us. he loved to volunteer. he loved to help. he had a great spirit and so today i just want to honor his memory and the best way that we can. >> reporter: and so far, d.c. police have made no arrest in this case and one woman said that they came here today seeking answers that they know they may never get in this case. >> erika, back to you. thanks so much. a 40-mile stretch of texas ravaged by a string of tornadoes. the storm destroyed hundreds of homes, mangled vehicles and took down power lines and toppled trees. today we've getting a look at the full extent of the damage, at least 11 people have died. four counties have been declared emergency disaster areas. heavy rain and wind today hampering the clean up effort. residents in hard-hit rowlett say nothing looks the same. >> it looks like godzilla or

something came through and ripped everything apart. it's crazy to think that just yesterday i drove through here and everything was fine and nothing out of place and today nothing looks the same. >> rising waters will continue to be a problem over the next couple of days and at least 12 people died in floodwaters during strong storms in the midwest. that same system slamming texas and not bringing severe weather weather, but it will bring rain this evening and amelia joins us with the latest timing of all of this. >> erika, here is the latest. notice showers pushing into montgomery county and areas of rain impacting frederick county and winchester seeing rain as we head to graphics right now. any rain we're tracking this evening will generally be light to moderate in nature and maybe an isolated downpour or two, but for the most part, showers moving through the area and here is the timing. 7:00 p.m. and a lot of the rain

in montgomery and after 7:00 p.m. and it quickly pushes into the district and all of the d.c. metro area seeing rain still tracking showers at 10:00 and as we work our way toward midnight we do start to dry out. this rain has a major impact on our temperatures tomorrow so much so that parts of southwestern maryland and the panhandle of virginia could see freezing rain and i'll have more on that coming up in ten minutes. >> the redskins capped a huge night for d.c. sports with a big win over the eagles and jason pugh joins us with what's next for the division champs, jason? >> jay greweden and these players are looking forward to closing out the season on a positive note with the victory against the cowboys and getting ready with the playoffs, but as of now, this team is celebrating this division title. >> you've got to earn it, baby. we got it. >> yes!

a man, khussed of shooting his wife on christmas morning in the bronx is now behind bars in prince george's county. rafael herrera was taken into custody yesterday. herrera is accused of shooting his wife twice while his kids were asleep in an upstairs room. his wife was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be okay. the kids ages 8 and 10 years old were not injured. friends, family and colleagues gathered today to remember two people who were shot and killed by police in chicago. a teen and a 55-year-old woman were shot yesterday morning after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. the chicago police department, the shooting of 55-year-old betty jones was an accident. police say the teen was combative towards them when they arrived. >> call for help. the police are supposed to serve and protect us and yet they take

carolina's bid at perfection on this season. all right. moving on now. we told you earlier about a story of an undercover probe from the al jazeera tv network linking several athletes to performance-enhancing drugs and peyton manning the most notable player. ryan zimmerman, according to the report a pharmacist at the clinic at the center of this investigation says the clinic mailed hgh to several athletes including zimmerman as well as ryan howard of the phillies. the two have the same lawyer and they released a statement saying, quote, the extraordinarily reckless claims made against our clients in this report are completely false and rely on a source who has already recanted his claims. the nationals also released a statement backing that ryan zimmer han had nothing to do with this. it says in part we do not find the al jazeera report which has already been recanted by their
