a man is in the hospital this morning. his mother dead after a tragic accident in anne arundel county. this happened where the baltimore beltway and bw merge. he lost control of his car and slid into a bus. his mother miriam was in the car with him and she died at the scene. no one on the bus was hurt. new details this morning over a massive mall fight in kentucky. police say anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 teenagers were involved saturday night. no injuries and no arrests were made either, but the mall is considering stricter policies to stop this from happening again. well, if you are thinking of inviting someone to go see "star wars," chances are they already saw it. >> it reach $1 billion. it did that in 12 days. the fastest to reach that. >> that's incredible.

over the weekend changing winds forced dozens of people to evacuate their homes pretty quickly. once the winds calmed down, they were able to get that fire 75% contains. now officials are worried any rainfall can trigger landslides right underneath their homes. republicans in the general assembly are expected to block governor terry mcauliffe's plans. he told our news partner wtop he'll try to work a deal out behind closed doors. governor mcauliffe said it could come down to one-on-one meetings for people concerned with high costs and poor execution. the size of the d.c. police force is at a tell-year low. that's according to the "washington post." it's fallen to below 3,800. that's below 3,900 a year ago.

some big changes are on the way for radio control aircraft enthusiasts. it has temporarily ground thousands of radio controlled flyers. rc controllers cannot fly their aircraft within 30 miles of reagan national airport. that means they're grounded from manassas and southern baltimore even at designated r.c. fields. some say technology is outpacing regulation. >> the government along with everybody else is trying to figure out how we're going to integrate that into society.
