good morning, everybody. yes indeed rain chances coming back. grab an umbrella and a warm coat. temperatures are back in the 40s after another 70 degree yesterday. rain arriving by 12:00. 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 in southern maryland. most likely the rain showers moving in around 3:00 to 6:00 and arriving last in northern maryland and southern pennsylvania where the rain will be cold enough to support winter weather. temperatures in the 30s and 40s around the region and your 24-hour focus, umbrella returns.

rain moving in during the day today and steady rain late tonight into the front part of the day and temperatures out of the 60s and 70s and into the 40s. milder weather before new year's and then colder weather returns. all that's coming up with the seven-day forecast at 6:21. here's kim mccormick. >> if you're traveling on 626, things are looking nicely. georgia avenue north of university boulevard, with very the right lane blocked with some debris. it is causing some delays so spay to the left. there is a crash in the left lane. that's going to cause you delays making your way toward the key brick this morning and if you're taking the camden line on m.a.r.c. service, you're running around late. hopefully those delays will ease for you. time right now 6:01.

developing right now, crews are cleaning up. take a look at this video. david culver is following the very latest from the live desk. david. >> rising death toll out of the south. the series of tornadoes took the lives of one infant and ten others thoechlts are the latest. storms packing winds up to 200 miles an hour. more than 1,400 homes damaged. look at that aftermath right there. some of them beyond repair. since wednesday tornados have killed 29 people in five states. the governor of texas declaring a state of emergency. those deadly twisters are not the only major weather system affecting the area, angie. >> thank you, david. we want to show you more pictures here. this also out of texas where it is snowing right now. the snow caused some serious damage to homes and cars. it's falling in parts of texas as well as oklahoma. tens of thousands of people don't have power. at least one major highway is

closed and severe weather is happening in missouri as well. take a look. roads are closed because of widespread flooding. expect more rain today. over the weekend at least eight people died. high waters swept away their cars in the south central part of the state. the governor has declared a state of emergency. >> 6:03. back in our area, a man is dead. a teenager in the hospital after an atv crash in capitol heights and now a relative is warning about the dangers of atvs. >> do not ride where it's illegal to ride. leave them alone. >> the crash happening during a get-together. a man took his step dauter for a ride on his atv. the small vehicle and suv somehow collided. the family is devastated right now. >> he was a good person always making you laugh. he worked so hard.

he had two children, a daughter 5, a son 1. >> prince george's county are looking into the crash. it is illegal to ride atvs on maryland roads. nationwide 12 people died in the first two weeks on atvs. two of the victims were younger than 16. that's according to numbers from the consumer product safety commission. the commission advises never to drive atvs on paved roads. don't allow anyone under 16 to operate vehicles and don't drive with a paej and don't ride as a passenger. an armed robber stole thousands of dollars from a falls church small business. this happened just before saturday night. the police say the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded money from the owner who was closing the store. the store's owner said the robber got away with nearly $20,000. but the investigators have not

at 6:30 we want to start out with breaking news out of iraq. we learned that iraqi forces in the stu of ramadi have taken a strategic government complex. this is new from our international feed. you can see from the aftermath smoke in the air. the smoke that went out there.

so please stick around. right now d.c. police are searching for a person who shot two people in broad daylight in the northeast. this happened sunday afternoon. we're told one man was conscious when emts rushed him to the hospital. police say the shooter took off in a silver nissan sports car. an area man is in the hospital this morning. his mother is dead after a tragic accident in anne arundel county. it happened sunday morning where the b.w. parkway meeting the baltimore beltway. police say brian barnshaw lost control of his car and slid into a bus. his mother miriam was with him. she died at the scene. no one on the bus was hurt. it's 6:34. the number of officers has fallen below 3,800. down from 3,900 a year ago. it's the result of the hiring binge from '89/'90 who are

retired. both the fredericksburg police department and stafford county chaff's office will pay for a new facility which will be on eskimo hill road. they'll teach better de-escalation technique. the facility should open up in the summer. 6:35 right now. there are some changes coming for drone enthusiasts around the nation's capital. it has temporarily grounded thousands of radio controlled flyers. the r.c. controllers can't fly their aircraft within 30 miles of reagan national airport and that means they're grounded from manassas and southern baltimore even at designated at r.c. fields. some controllers say technology is outpacing regulation. >> the government along with everybody else is trying to figure out how we're going to integrate that into society. now, the faa is upgrading its radar system to be able to detect unmanned aircraft in the
