disappear. the transit agency says funding could run out in early spring. the firefighter position within metro is designed to improve communication. this is created after january's deadly smoke emergency near the plaza. next month, metro and fire officials will meet to discuss possible funding to keep the position in place. this morning, a victim is warning others about a man who tried to sexually assault her in bloomingdale in the prince of petworth blog, the victim says the attacker tried to steal her purse last tuesday on seton place northwest. he also pushed her into a stairway and tried to take her shirt off. he ran off when she started screaming. if you have any information, call d.c. police. a developing story right now, this one in the district where d.c. police continue to investigate a deadly shooting in southeast. police found darnell mayfield's body last night. no suspect information has been released so far.

this isn't the first murder on that block. another man was shot and killed in march. an arrest in that case has been made. 4:34 now. a busy intersection in rockville is back open after a deadly accident. an suv hit a cyclist at the intersection of veirs mill road last night. you see the bike stuck under the suv there. the driver is okay. montgomery county police say 19-year-old frank powers was on the bike. he died at the hospital. >> simply put, given this perfect storm of human error, the stakes and miscommunication by all involved that day, the evidence did not indicate criminal conduct by police. >> no charges for the officers involved in the death of 12-year-old tamir rice. he's a cleveland boy who police shot after mistaking his pellet gun for a deadly weapon. a grand jury said there is indisputable evidence that the boy was drawing what looked like a pistol from his waistband before officers opened fire.

tamir's family says it is sad but not surprised by the decision. they did ask anyone who was disappointed to express themselves peacefully. new details now in the atv crash that killed a man and seriously hurt his stepdaughter. neither he nor his stepdaughter was wearing a helmet. it is illegal to ride atvs on county maintained roads like the one where this accident happened in capital heights. many of you have returned home from your holiday break. but did you leave anything behind? that's the question. the tsa says it recovered a large amount of lost valuables from checkpoints at local airports. we have been inside the agency's lost and found room at dulles international and have seen everything from coats to bells to laptop computers. someone even forgot a new unwrapped drone. some of you told news 4 you realized you left stuff behind, but time was just against you. >> i clearly didn't have time to

welcome back. new video of a major mess on the beltway you may have been stuck in yourself. a group of dirt bikes and atv riders took over the holiday. the disruptions were on the inner loop in prince george's county, 295 and 50. motorcyclists drove the wrong way and brought traffic to a stand still sunday afternoon. maryland state police say they have this video and are looking into it. so amazing video out of wisconsin too where severe weather caused major damage to a gas station. look at this citgo. the canopy there just collapsed on to two cars, destroying one

at the live desk, the president's motorcade stopped momentarily because of a drone. potus is still on vacation in hawaii. the secret service says it is aware of the incident. let me tell you what happened here. the owner of the drone was questioned. cooperated with police and told them they didn't know the president was in the area. remember, owners of recreational drones must now register their devices with the federal aviation administration. at the live desk, i'm erica. big changes on the way for airline employees. it is upping the number of random checks on employees who have baggage that allows them to

bypass security. >> now the employees at the airport will have to deal with more security at the gates there. tsa announced it will increase random searches of employees for airlines and the airport. the move comes after several incidents over the past two years in which guns and laundered money were smuggled into airports. in one case last year, five employees were arrested for bringing $400,000 in cash through boston's logan airport. when a memo from american airlines ahead of security reminded employees there that they travel after work, they have to go leave the secure area, go back outside, go back through the security checkpoint with their carry on luggage to board a flight. this increased security also comes after news that an airport employee may have been responsible for that bomb that brought down the russian jet leaving the sinai. not in the united states.

improvements to the church over the past 13 years. and made regular payments in the past few months. we're learning what led up to a deadly shooting in germantown earlier this month. robert king was found shot to death on sage way on december 16th. montgomery county police now say he was doing a drug deal with a person when they got into an argument when they both pulled out guns and fired. both were hit. motor head's legendary front man and bass player ian lemmy died yesterday after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. the band posted on the facebook page he found out he had a disease a few days before he died. the band is best known for their 1980 anthem ace of spades. lemmy was 70 years old. rescuers are working to free more than a dozen people who are trapped in a mine in china. let me show you new video of the
