received a call as well. >> he told me he loved me and happy new year. i told him i love him, too, and hope this new year be better for him. >> reporter: around 5:00 police arrived at his door. >> the officer came in and asked for my wife to come down and said there was a car accident. >> reporter: investigators say ian was hit and killed at the intersection of minnesota avenue and c street about 5:00 saturday morning. they obtained this surveillance video from an apartment building showing ian stepping out before he was struck and investigators believe it was a blue or black equinox. the driver never stopped >>. >> he or she whoever it was, would have just got out and made a phone call, maybe they would have saved him. >> reporter: so much pain and unanswered questions all because a driver kept going. >> let us know what happened, if it was an accident, we're going to forgive, i just need to know

what happened. >> reporter: again, police believe the suspect was driving a blue or black chevy equinox model 2005, 6 or 7, and believe it has front enend damage, if they know where that vehicle is or the suspect, contact police right away. megan fitzgerald, news4. >> thank you. a mystery we've been trying to find answers to all day. the body of a young woman was discovered in chillum, near the rosa parks elementary school. jackie joins us live tonight. >> reporter: chris, they don't know who she is. there was no it, no wallet, no person found on or near the woman's body. investigators from maryland's national capitol park police left the park at night fall. they had secured the trail for most of the day while they looked for possible evidence. the shocki ining discovery was around 7:30 this morning.

>> a jogger was in the area, ran past a body and called police. the police responded and did discover the body of a female, appears to be an hispanic female in her 20s on the trail deceased. >> reporter: in addition to being a recreation area, this trail serves as a cut through for people to walk through to the home depot and the mall at prince george's. police say the woman had trauma. they would not say what type of injuries to her upper body. the body may have been here since new year's eve. >> right now, no identification is known, no it on her body -- no it on her body or anything of that nature and we have to determine who she is. >> reporter: police believe the woman is latina, in her 20s. we have no other information. height,weight, what she was we wearing, anything, to help people figure out if this is a family member or a loved one. live in chillum, jackie bensen,

with isis in syria and was a arming himself for an attack. tonight, we're getting new video from dubai. it's giving us a first look inside the heavily damaged hotel. the inferno was still smoldering well into the day today. firefighters haven't said what started the fire. 14 people were injured and partially obscured the iconic fireworks display. a ferd employee has been charged with embezzlement accused of using thousands of dollars to gas up his personal vehicles for dozens of purcha purchases. federal agents found it when they raided a house that's connected to that officer. tonight, animal control officers are warning people to be careful. they're looking for two dogs, black red and brownish mixed

breed. they attacked a small pomeranian in hey market and is still recovering from the bite wounds. congress is scheduling a hearing to investigate issues for daycare for army family, the problem exposed by i-team. the house oversight committee will question administrators to see what changes have been made for fee assistance program. it's supposed to help army parents to pay childcare bills. they reveals late tape and payments and administrators never returning parents' calls. they promised to hire a contractor to fix those problems and have to account for those changes wednesday. now, to decision 2016 j in the republican front-runner, donald trump received some unwanted publicity today at the rose parade in pasadena. planes flew over the route and wrote demeaning messages like america is great, trurm is disgusting and anybody but trump

a new year meets hundreds of new laws taking effect around the country. in hawaii, the legal smoking age is now 21 and that applies to typical tobacco products and electronic cigarettes. gun owners with permits can now carry them in the open in texas and the laws require a belt or shoulder holster. you won't see styrofoam conta containers in d.c. restaurants that don't comply will face a 1$100 fine. president obama is pushing gun control to the top of his agenda for 2016. he says he will meet with the attorney general on monday and

athletic center of texas tech. and buffalo, new york, waking up to a foot of snow on the ground and winds up to 35 miles an hour. that is, you would love that. thousands of families right here? not so much. take you out live in the district. there we are, we see that flag blown. the wind's kicking up a little bit here and there. >> that wind will do two things for us. 5 to 10 miles an hour wind doesn't mean too much but means temperatures are a little bit less and, two, will keep the temperatures up just a bit, believe it or not. let's show you what's happening across our area. 38 degrees, winds out of the southwest at 5 miles an hour. that doesn't seem like a lot but makes 38 degrees feel like 34 degrees in the city. feels like 29 toward frederick and hagerstown at 26 degrees and manassas at 28 degrees. we have wind chills in the 20s and by early tomorrow morning, temperatures will be in the 20s.

one thing we will not see over the next five, six days, no chance of rain or snow as we make our way through the next week, not until next friday. we'll get to that in a second. satellite and radar showing our storm system moving to the south. look what's coming in behind it. clear skies. you look outside, you actually see some stars. we have not seen that very often. back to the west, i'm watching this system. you can kind of see the clouds moving from chicago towards our region. that will help. look behind it. that will really help to clear us out tomorrow. we will be cool but see a lot of sunshine. we have not seen much in the way of sunshine at all in the past couple of weeks. we will see it coming up this weekend. but, what to expect for the new year? the cold is what to expect. starting off on a cold note for sure even though the weekend looking okay, the arctic arrives next week and snow, i think it will start coming here and the second week of january may be our first chance to see snow.

how much? way too early to tell. don't go out and say, hey, we're going to get snow but i think the pattern is looking good the second week of january. 31 in frederick tomorrow morning and 36 in manassas and 34 in this washington area. waking up to colder temperatures tomorrow. sunshine, not bad this time of year. 45 in d.c. 43 in martinsburg and 47 in gaithersburg. a little bit of wind chill tomorrow but not that bad. if you're doing exercising, most likely want to do it during the afternoon hours, when things should be on the mild side. if you're going early, bundle up. talk about the temperature drop, 45 tomorrow, 48 on sunday. the weekend looking pretty good. look at monday and tuesday. high monday of only 38, obviousonly 34 on tuesday. with that, wind chills get down to the teens. talking windy conditions and
