surveillance video. take a look. it shows ian stepping into the intersection before he is hit by the driver of the car. the driver never stopped. >> investigators looking for a blue or black 2005 equinox. >> the body of a young woman found along the schedulers. >> investigators left the park at night fall. they looked for possible evidence. the shocking discovery was made this morning.

>> a jogger was in the area and ran past the body and called police and the police responded and did discover the body of a female who appeared to be a hispanic female in her 20s on the trail. >> in addition to be a recreation area, this section of the trail served as a cut through. they walked to a nearby commercial area. police say the woman had injuries to her upper body. >> right now, no identification is known. no i.d. on her body and are trying to determine. >> police believe the woman is hispanic likely in her 20s. investigators want to hear from anyone who might know who she is. >> right now, 500 residents in southern illinois are being urged to move to higher ground after the mississippi river topped a levy protecting several

you're watching news 4 today. >> back at 8:40. we're getting a look at how badly a massive fire damaged the inside of a hotel. this in dubai. there's extensive damage to the lobby. the fire raged on as thousands gathered nearby for a fireworks display on new year's eve. 14 people hurt and we're told all are expected to recover. rescuers billiuilding another rf after the discovery of four trapped miners wednesday. rescuers began drilling two relief wells, one of the rescue wells collapsed and got flooded underground. the well drilling process might take a couple of days. the instability of what's underground makes drilling there difficult. one person has died.

>> a final act of heroism where a falling elevator crashed and crushed a man to death. steven brown pushed a woman out to safety new year's eve after the malfunction. moments later the elevator dropped trapping him between the c cart and the shaft. >> he cried help me, help me and i tried the best i could a. >> city records show there have been 30 complaints about elevator service in that building since 2010. >> while filling up his gas tank got a cop from our area thrown in jail and charged. >> tom says it's going to be the coldest day of the week next week. that's in your seven day forecast. >> and sunday you could get lucky as well. a holiday for singles coming

injuries. the national tsunami warning center says no dangers. >> days before christmas a woman thought an attack would have ended her life. if it weren't for a stranger it would have. her attacker is still out there and news 4 spoke to the victim and she's now sharing her story to warn her neighbors and thank the woman who rushed in to help. >> we're not going to identify the woman by name because her attacker is still on the loose. we'll just call her kate. kate was walking home when she was attacked right here just a few doors from her home. she says if it hadn't been for someone walking by that evening, things might have been much, much worse. >> i would like to certainly give her a huge thank you. she saved my life. >> kate was walking home from the shaw metro station getting ready to start her christmas vacation. a man grabbed her from behind and shoved her off the sidewalk.

you're watching news 4 today. >> a stand off conservation officers in idaho had to deal with. what doesn't belong in this room? an elk got in a basement. it crashed through a window, got stuck in the kid's play room. using flashlights and a mattress officers got the elk up the stairs and out the front door two and a half hours later. >> i love it. they used a mattress.

this is a rare birth. a few spikes between these two little ones. they were both born in different years. jaylon was born at 11:59 on new year's eve in san diego. his brother was born a couple of minutes after midnight on new year's day. one 2015, one 2016. the dad says not what mom was hoping for. >> she wanted to have the babies on the same day. later on we'll have two birthday parties back to back. >> back to back. >> both babies and their mom are happy and healthy. my dad was a twin and they were born ordinary reason separate days as well. not new years. ? su >> such a dynamic.
