inside. news 4's darcy spencer is live outside montgomery county's animal services division with more on how the dogs are doing. >> reporter: well, those animals are being cared for right here today. i'm told it took until noon today to give a health examination to each and every dog. investigators are still trying to figure out where did they all come from. in the yard, you can see what investigators left behind. shoe coverings worn as they removed dozens of dogs from this home on glen mill road in rocksville. animal services went there to follow up on a dog biting case, and that's when they suspected a large number of dogs were in the house. when the owner allegedly refused to allow them to inspect the home to find the dogs, animal services got a warrant and conducted a search. they seized 66 dogs during the search that started at 6:30 in the evening new year's day and

went on throughout the night. the dogs varied in size, age, and breed. their medical conditions varied too. some needed immediate care. staff from the animal services division were on hand to remove the dogs and assess their medical condition. now, we did knock on the door of the house tonight, but no one answered. we also reached out to the owner, but we were not able to get in contact with her. officials here are saying charges could be placed in this investigation. back to you. >> all right. darcy, thanks. new information tonight on a deadly new year's eve hit-and-run. today, d.c. police say they recovered a vehicle they believe is connected to the crash. it happened early friday morning on minnesota avenue near c street in southeast. ian butts died. he leaves behind a wife and four young children. police are examining the vehicle for forensic evidence. they hope it will lead them to a

suspect. we've learned the name of the young woman found dead on a hiking trail in maryland. tonight, her mother has a plea for all parents. catherine alvarado's body was found new year's day along the northwest branch trail in hyattsville. she was just 20 years old and working on her ged. tonight, a family friend spoke to our darcy spencer just a short time ago. >> tell the parents to please always, you know, you never know. life is so short, and tell your kids how much you love them because you never know what can bring you tomorrow. >> alva rradoalvarado's mother saw her on new year's eve, then reported her missing. there is a 25 thousands reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case. >> an update now to that new year's eve drunk driving crash that injured seven people in the district. the driver, malik lloyd, is

being held without bond tonight. he went before a judge today. lloyd is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. police arrested him after they say he plowed into the pedestrians standing outside of a club on l and 17#qfk@th stree northwest. after the crash, they charged him with driving under the influence and leaving the scene. one of the injured people may not survive. turning now to weather, amelia joins us outside on storm team 4 weather deck as many areas in the area, the temperatures dipping down. amelia, it sounds like it's going to go even deeper down into the cold temps as we head into the work week and kids go back to school. >> yeah, you got it. so right now outside, 46 degrees here in northwest, washington. not too bad. it's chilly. i have a scarf, a jacket. our average time this year even cooler at 43 degrees.

the cold air not tomorrow but monday and tuesday as we all head back to work and school. high temperatures monday will only be in the 30s. 38 for a high on monday. tuesday, 34, right around that freezing mark. tracking the coldest air this season. not only that, but we're dealing with winds on monday. i'll let you know exactly how cold it will feel throughout the day. now, tomorrow morning, we're going to be starting off with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. of course i'll have your hour by hour forecast coming up in a little bit, meagan. >> amelia, thanks. the family of a missing teenager is breathing a sigh of relief tonight. investigators say my gentleman williams has been found safe. she and her dog had been missing since december 21. the 16-year-old was last seen in the company of an older man in hanover, maryland. a lot of you shared the story after we posted it on our facebook page. tonight, anne arundel police say she and her pomeranian are doing well, but police are still asking anyone with information about the case to contact their

department. this is still considered an active and ongoing investigation. a sad end to a story many of you have been commenting on on our facebook page. just before 6:00 tonight, officials in allentown, pennsylvania, say they found the body of a young autistic boy in a canal about a quarter mile away from a relative's home. 5-year-old jale batista went missing on new year's eve. police say he wandered away from a party at a home while playing with a tablet. earlier this afternoon, search crews found the device near the canal, and dive teams found the boy's body. police do not believe there was any foul play involved. the mayor of a town near mexico city was killed today just one day after she took office. a mexican newspaper says the attacker dragged the woman from her house and later killed her. the governor announced her death on twitter and said the attackers have been detained. no word on a motive.
