eun. >> thank you, melissa. developing story in calvert county that we've been following all morning. take a look at this mass of destruction left by a fire on southern maryland boulevard overnight. we've learned three firefighters are hurt. one had to go to the hospital. 95 firefighters responded to the scene in dunkirk around 12:15 this morning. the fire started when a vehicle crashed into a flower shop. today pretrial hearings begin for the second baltimore police officer facing charges in the death of freddie gray. cease san goodson was driving the van where investigators say gray received a deadly spinal injury. he faces second degree murder charge. jury trial is set for monday. prosecutors had planned to use the testimony of william porter against goodson. monday porter filed a motion saying he plans to invoke his fifth amendment rights and he will refuse to testify. porter was the first officer to

formally charged. police say enrique marquez bought the two assault rifles used in the attack that killed 14 people. if convicted he could face up to 50 years in prison. 22 people also injured in that attack back in december. today d.c. mayor muriel bowser will work to curb crime in the disstrjt. she along with police chief kathy lanier will announce a new task force. the goal is to stop serial robberies. the task force will include members of mpd, metro transit police and the office of the attorney general. the announcement is at eastern market metro station. a new robbery investigation in the district after a scuffle on metro. agency spokesperson tells us someone stabbed a passenger while attempting to rob him. it happened on a yellow line train around 8:00 last night headed from georgia avenue to u street. metro did not have a description of the suspect. a d.c. man died on sunday after firefighters went to the wrong location. according to the washington post, the crew went to an address in northeast instead of

northwest. albert jackson's wife says treatment was delayed about 20 minutes. sunday's mishandled call is now under internal investigation. this is an ongoing problem we've been reporting on this for more than two years now. last june a 90-year-old woman waited more than 30 minutes for an ambulance that never arrived. an elderly woman from rockville is the victim of a deadly crash. the 67-year-old woman died in the hospital last night hours after a county ride-on bus hit her in the crosswalk on georgia avenue at battery lane in bethesda. none of the four passengers on that bus was hurt. virginia governor terry mccull love struck several key deals during the cuba trip. the governor is making his way home. he inked a new deal. it supports water born trade and investment and increases the number of vessel services between the commonwealth and cuba. mcauliffe said this makes them a leader in the trade relations

crushed. hearing from the -- one person in that ambulance taken back to the hospital. also an individual that was in the car that was involved in this crash also at that hospital. we're working on getting their conditions right now. fairfax police saying that the road in the area northbound gallows road in the area right there in front of innova fairfax hospital will be closed for a brief amount of time, but we just heard from melissa mollet. people in the area seem to be able to maneuver and get around it. we're staying on top of this and we'll keep you posted. she kept patting me down, like pat down, pat down. it was like over and over. >> there's anger over a patdown of a 10-year-old girl at the raleigh durham international airport. the girl's father says the tsa went too far. you can see a pat down here reported on cell phone. it took about two minutes. the girl had a juice box in her carry on that weighed more than the three ounce limit. her father says that wasn't enough of a reason. >> maybe they were under trained. maybe they need retraining.

maybe they did everything by the book. i don't really know, but it was, you know, an uncomfortable situation. >> the tsa responded saying the patdowns, quote, followed approved procedures and that the procedures allowed agents to pat down a child in some circumstances. today the house will open its legislative year by trying to repeal the affordable care act. there has been dozens of votes on this issue, but this is the first time a full repeal will make its way to the president's desk. the legislation also cuts funding for planned parenthood. president obama will veto the measure. republican presidential front-runner donald trump is questioning the eligibility of one presidential candidate. trump reminded voters that ted cruz was born in canada. he says republicans may be in a, quote, very precarious situation by selecting the canadian born conservative as the parties's nominee. he was born in calgary to an american mother. cruz would qualify as a natural

born citizen and could serve as commander in chief. as for the rest of the presidential hopeful, marco rubio, ted cruz and carson are hitting the road hard today. ted cruz continues on the sixth day, 28 stop bus tour of the state. chris christie and jeb bush are in another early voting state today, new hampshire. it is now 6:18. a state senator stabbed by his own son is suing the state of virginia and the mental health facility that treated the young man. he claims his son gus did not get the appropriate treatment the day before the november 2013 attack. gus stabbed his father 13 times before shooting himself. the commonwealth health facility and the mental health worker who evaluated his son are named in the lawsuit. all five casinos in marry land had a really good christmas. maryland gaming facilities says december's revenue was 11% higher than 2014. the casinos generated more than

county. firefighters rescuing one of their own. firefighter fell through the roof of a burning house in upper marlboro. on tuesday. ended up in a hot, smoke filled part of the house. quick action by fellow firefighters and captain donnie fletcher helped them get out unharmed. >> should missing more than 20% of a school day count as a tardy instead of an absent? they approved a temporary extension of d.c. council member's proposal. it reverses the 80/20 rule which says high school students are considered absent if they miss more than 20% of the day. he tells the washington post he would reduce the number of students categorized as truant, meaning fewer of them will be referred to court. work starting on the national mall today. they'll drain the reflecting pool near the lincoln memori so it can be cleaned. start on friday. the park service does it every year as part of the routine maintenance. the cleaning could take up to 60

digging out the charred remains of this flower shop that's been here in this community for 30 years. and i'm joined now by the owner of the flower shop, mr. art fuller who is very emotional watching your life just charred rubble. tell me what you know about how this started with the car crashing into it in the middle of the night. >> yeah. when we arrived the police told us there was a dui driver that lost control of his vehicle, came to the parking lot and crashed into our van. he flipped over the van and into the store and set everything on fire. it's just -- it's just unbelievable. he got out. he was fine. he ran. they caught him down the road here a little bit, and my understanding, he's under arrest now. at least he's okay. they had some problems with the fire. a couple firemen were injured inside. the roof collapsed. they're okay also thank goodness.

above freezing by noontime and close to 40 degrees for high temperatures today. a little good news there. our next chance of rain arrives on friday. and that could be a little bit tricky. we're going to watch this very, very carefully. the next big change, the moisture coming in may arrive before all the cold is scoured out. so there may, may be a chance for a little light freezing rain, particularly in the shenandoah valley mid to late friday morning. friday's temperatures will be up into the mid 40s. it won't be an extended problem but we're keeping a close eye on that for you. the weekend filled with clouds. saturday the best day to come down for the health and fitness expo. sunday, playoff game, redskins and packers. temperatures will be in the 50s. there is a chance for rain on sunday. i think most of our rain chance sunday comes into the front part of the day. still be wet at least when the game kicks off. keep that in mind. another shot of cold air comes in early next week. right now you still have
