lawyer. bold robberies in the district tonight, what mayor bowser is trying to do to cut down on crime. he was an officer of the court but tonight he's the one free on bond accused of solic soliciting a minor for sex. >> police tell us 30-year-old daniel reed now a former maryland court commissioner thought he was talking to a minor online and it was actually an undercover detective. jackie is where read was arrested. >> reporter: i spoke with read's attorney tonight and he maintain his client's innocence and said there were no ill intentions in his communications. 30-year-old daniel read is the second maryland commissioner charged with a crime in recent weeks. no one answered the door at read's germantown home tonight. police say read had been talking online with a montgomery county police detective posing as

15-year-old boy and read indicated he wanted to have sex with him. court documents said read arranged to meet him at an mcdonald's on december 3rd but when read showed up he was met by detectives. a spokeswoman showed read worked as commissioner from march of 2013 until shortly after his arrest. they are the first point of contact in the judicial system for someone who's been arrested. they set bond amounts or want to get a restraining order. av his arrest he was give an 50,0$50,000 bond and released u his next court appearance. >> reporter: in december another court commissioner was arrested for taking an upskirt photo of a woman who walked into his office f. that case was moved to prince george's county due to conflict of interest. live in germantown, jackie bensen, news4. we get new developments tonight in the case of sandra

bland. the texas state trooper who arrested her has been charged with perjury and fired from his job. he said bryant swung her elbows and kicked his shin and said he took her out of his car to conduct a safe investigation. the jury did not buy that and on the video tape, he said i will light you up with a stun gun. >> she could not come up with the bail bond and three days later she was found with a garbage bag against her neck. the charge against the former trooper is a misdemeanor and could face a year in jail and 4,0$4,000 fine. get your tickets out and get ready to read them and weep. the powerball drawing is in the books now. a half billion dollars, billion dollars is up for grabs. that's right. tonight's jackpot is this sixth

wrong location. help arrived finally 20 minutes later and her husband was taken to the hospital where he died. as for the firefighters -- >> their supervisor will make a recommendation if he thinks discipline is warranted. if we have holes in our system, we're supposed to not only punish the person but do we need to take time to see if our processes are correct. >> from now on firefighters and paramedics have to repeat the address of each call to the dispatcher when they get to the scene. until now they simply responded they'd arrived. the chief calls this an unfortunate case of human error. >> metro says things will be back to normal on the green line after two cars filled with riders got separated in the tunnel during this morning's rush. it happened as the train pulled into the navy station. no one was hurt and passengers got put on another train and caused a ripple in the commute.

some said they were stuck for 40 minutes. metro apologized and said this was very unusual and still trying to figure out how it happened. lawyers for a police officer charged in freddie gray's death will go to a maryland appeals court tomorrow to try to prevent their client from testifying against a fellow officer. a baltimore judge ruled he must take the stand in the trial of the officer. he was driving the van in which gray broke his neck last year. the first trial resulted in a hung jury. public safety her top priority says mayor bowser. we see video of the kind of crime the mayor wants to crack down on. >> reporter: that's right. they're searching for the group you are about to see in the surveillance video where they walked in and got away with an

undisclosed amount of cash. it captured the four armed people walking in with their faces covered this past saturday. they pointed guns, demanded the cash and got away. now, tonight, d.c. mayor muriel bowser talked about robberies in d.c. at sibley hospital and outlined her crime reduction plan. earlier this year, the mayor and cathy lanier announced a plan to combat the increase in store robberies like you saw in the video. business owners are worried. >> concern about walking down the street, you never know who will walk up behind you and rob you. >> always number one on our agenda, public safety in general. >> reporter: the mayor says most robberies are done over and over again by the same small group of people. she says locking up repeat offenders should be a priority.

tonight, fairfax tells us this man used a pretty convin convincing disguise to steal from wal-mart. he walked into the shopping center december 15th wearing a wal-mart desk and told the cashier she was needed in the office and took control of the register and even checked out a customer and got away in silver honda. they believe he may have stolen from other wal-marts in the area and maryland. a young woman is responsible for a crime spree across the united states and doing nothing to hide her identity. she is robbing jewelry store after jewelry store across the south. her mo is pretty simple. walks in and pulls a gun from her handbag and force the workers in the back and ties them up and cleans it out with
