stocks. just not as bad as yesterday. trading in chinese stocks came to a halt after just 30 minutes yesterday. other asian markets have rebounded after a plunge rattled global markets. the dow lost nearly 400 points. eun? >> erika gonzalez, thank you. today, the woman known as the affluenza mother heads to court in texas. tonya couch helped her son flee to mexico while he was under investigation for a possible probation violation. ethan couch is serving ten years' probation after killing four people while driving drunk. couch claims he did not know right from wrong due to his affluent upbringing. bond for tonya couch is a $1 million.

hogan says the state expect as $3 million surplus and is in better financial standing after eight years under former governor martin o'malley. let's all dream for a minute. what would you do with $1 billion. >> it's so hard to wrap your head around. go to a grocery store -- if no one wins saturday's drawing, that's how high the drawing could get. $1 billion with a "b." saturday's drawing is worth $700 million. you could buy 7 million lattes or a couple of the franchises. it's the largest prize in lottery history according to a spokesperson. it could grow to $900 million. if that rolls over, next wednesday's drawing should easily exceed the $1 billion

new cell phone video this morning of a woman being cared off a united airlines fliechlt people cheered this. the woman attacked several passengers after the flight took off from new york. the plane made an emergency landing in detroit. the flight continued without the unruly passenger making it safely to chicago o'hare last night. there are reports the woman may have mental issues. we want to talk about coyote sightings in prince george's county. two were seen. they're reminding people to keep their trash and things picks up and keep your puppy on a leash. they might think they're prey. >> what you need to know.

solutions. >> there's a new warning about carjackings. there's been a recent crime surge across the borders in d.c. and prince george's county. anti-theft systems on cars are not helping the situation. the chief says newer cars are harder to steal, though crooks are trying to take directly from drivers. they're working with the d.c. police and prince george's county police to crack down on this crime. drivers are getting confused over a new sign. the sign is on wisconsin avenue and it reads 15 miles an hour. the new england sign between chevy chase in bethesda shows the usual 35-mile-an-hour. they say it's not a county sign, so they're not enforcing it. they say the signs make them feel safer. >> our priority is safety first. they've got throw down especially in this area. some are coming out of the work

zone and they're over 35 or so. >> that's good common sense. the pipeline company doing the work did not respond to our messages about the sign. 41 months in prison that. is a sentence handed down to a former federal employee after he admitted to making meth in a federal lab. chris bartley worked as the federal police chief at the national institute of standards and technology in gaithersburg. he caused an explosion on the campus while trying to cook meth last year. he told the judge he made a serious lapse in judgment. trial dates for sergeant alicia white and officer garrett miller have been pushed back. white's trial is now rescheduled for february. miller's trial is now moved to march.

it's a no for the group of protester. they told the sheriff they're not leaving. the sheriff asked them to leave peacefully and offered a safe escort out. they agreed to disagree by shaking hands. bundy says the protesters are, quote, being ignored again. 4:50 your time now. scary research is linking breast implants to cancer. lymphoma can develop around the scar tissue. it's especially scary for women who had breast cancer once and then had breast reconstruction. they say only 1 in 1,000 have developed it worldwide. a special beer is brewing in northern virginia for a young woman battle stomach cancer. it's called curry's cure. she gave birth.
