seen. >> i'm tracking two days of rain and how it affects your weekend. white house dog plot. a man travels with a shocking plan. first at 4:00, a notorious drug kingpin is back behind bars. they stormed a house in his home state in sinaloa and arrested joaquin guzman, but not before five of his security guards were killed in a dramatic shootout. back in july, el chapo escaped a maximum-security prison by going through a hole in the shower and linking up in a tunnel with lights and ventilation. the hollywood style-escape humiliated the mexican government. >> we are learning about a young woman killed after crossing the street in prince george's county. >> she was 19 years old and was crossing route 197 in laurel when a car hit her. meagan fitzgerald is following this story all day and joins us live from the scene. >> reporter: chris, police tell

us that 19-year-old helene ngassa was crossing the intersection on morris drive. she had just left her apartment complex which is just behind us here and just yards away from where this accident happened. the crash happened just after 6:00 this morning. investigators say the of 6-year-old driver traveling northbound on route 197 hit the 19-year-old who was crossing near morris drive. witnesses told police the teen was not in the cross walk and the driver had a green light. we are told he remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. >> the victim was transported to prince george's county hospital center where she was pronounced dead. >> reporter: police tell us the driver has not been charged. coming up at 5:00, hear from a woman who was on scene shortly after this accident happened. barbara? >> thank you, meagan. chilling new video shows the ambush of a philadelphia police officer overnight.

thgunman fired at least 11 shots and reaching through the driver's side window. officer jesse hartnett was hit several times, but somehow managed to get out of his car, chased the suspect and returned fire. >> the bravery he demonstrated was absolutely remarkable. his will to live undoubtedly saved his life. >> the gunman has been identified as edward archer of philadelphia. police say he told them he was acting in the name of islam and swore allegiance to isis. there is another disturbing element in this case and brian mooar is finalizing the story and has a live report in the second half hour. i'm tracee wilkins in upper marlboro where a prince george's county police officer will be spending five years in prison after an incident involving him holding his service weapon to a young man.

cell phone video surfaced of this officer who was accosting this man in his front yard. what he did was above and beyond what he was supposed to do in a police officer. he said he was trying to degrade this man, william cunningham in his own front yard and because of that he sentenced him to five years in prison. after officer santiago went to jail there were recorded conversations where he stated what he thought about this entire case and apologizing to the victim. we'll have that coming up on news 4 at 5:00. federal officials are ordering a man to stay away from the white house after he allegedly planned to kidnap the first family's dog. his name is scott stogert from north dakota. he planned to kidnap both the obama portuguese water dog and agents caught him at the hampton inn near the convention center and they found a rifle in his pickup truck along with 300 rounds of ammunition. today a judge ruled the case would go forward and he released

him into a high-intensity supervision program until his next date in court. new this afternoon, it appears baltimore police officer william porter will not have to testify in the case of two other officers charged in the death of freddie gray. he would have to, under limited immunity granted by prosecutors and porter appealed that and a maryland court ruled he is off the hook for now. he is the first of the six officers to stand trial. his retrial has been scheduled for june. cesar goodson's trial is next and he was the driver of a transport van carrying gray. jury selection in had his case is set to start monday. well, it has been a very gloomy day. it has been a cool day. we've some drizzle, mist, fog and seen it all. we've got some rain coming in, too, and it's not just the mist

that we'll continue to see and you'll need the umbrellas as you head out and here is the rainmaking its way our way and notice pink down here parts of western parts of maryland and frostberg and even some freezing rain that will be an issue and they're under a freezing rain advisory, but here is what is coming in. you can see the rain, most of it on the light side and this is not a big storm at all. the big storm comes in during the day tomorrow. so that's what we'll be watching out for. saturday evening, for sure and expect showers between 6:00 and 8:00 and temperatures in the low 40s. by 10:00, we'll start to see the fog coming back in and we'll talk about tomorrow and tomorrow night's storm and it's a pretty big storm and it will affect us on sunday and of course, could have an impact on the redskins game. we'll show you how. i'm david culver following out on a tweet put out by arlington county police warning of theft in connection to certain cleaning corporations and really specifically, this has to do with those that you

holiday operation to crack down on drunk drivers in montz bombry county and this entire effort came to light recently when a

police officer was hit and killed. officer noah leotta died last month after a suspected drunk driver ran into him. he'd been working on the holiday alcohol task force and was on dui patrol when the car hit him, but over the past eight weeks his fellow officers have arrested dozens of suspected drunk drivers. >> they have arrested over 290 drunk drivers and saved many lives in the process. we'll never know how many lives they saved. >> while the holiday operation ends today the department plans to expand its dui enforcement through the rest of the year. >> right now we have a difficult finish to a difficult week for wall street. stocks dipped again today and the dow closed 167 points lower posting its worst start to a new year ever, but the jobs market is showing promise. today the labor department says employers added 292,000 new jobs in december. the unemployment rate held steady at 5%.

from people who will be appearing at the expo. i'm looking forward to meeting susie favor hamilton and she's an olympic athlete who has written with her struggle to overcome bipolar disorder. she will be here this weekend. she is the operations manager with barnes & noble bookstore at catholic university and we've got a lot of books set up and do you have favorites that you're looking forward to sharing with people? >> yeah. i think the most -- sorry. this year what i'm looking for is reclaim your brain from dr. anabali. >> what's that about? >> this one is about how to relax your mind. we all have a million things going on all of the time and this book kind of tells you how to shut those down and be more productive. >> i'm buying that book. i could use it. it is hard with so many distractions in our lives. this is another one you like very much.

34 in martinsburg and 36 win chester and 43 in huntingtown and warmer as you head out to the east. here's the rain and we are seeing freezing rain back toward the frostburg area and that is not expected to move our way and what will move our way is the rain and right now it's coming in toward winchester and you can see the cloud cover making its way in. here come the showers, too and we will continue to see these showers right on through the evening tonight. once again, if you're heading out expect to see the shower activity and notice it's not a lot and we're not going to see a lot of rain tonight and that comes from tomorrow's storms and here's future weather for us and talking about early tomorrow morning and that rain is out of here and just cloud cover during the day. watch what happens. around 7:00 tomorrow night we're still in the dry side for the most part and can't rule out some drizzle and watch what happens by 11:00. we start to see the rain developing and moving on in here and it gets heavy overnight and by 8:00 a.m. the heavy rain is out of here and then we're

dealing with shower activity and most of the activity is out of here and by 4:00, just in time for the redskins game, i do expect us to be dry and can't rule out an isolated shower and good news there, too. one thing we will see is falling temperatures and windy conditions. 50s to the east and nice and mind as far as the temperatures go ten degrees above average and 63 on sunday and that's not the way it's going to end on sunday night if you're headed to the skins game. temperatures will be dropping by the end of the game and wind chills will be only upper 30s on monday and going for snow next week and v.j. will be back to you. it sounds like a good day to stay inside and 48 hours to go and we'll show you the last-minute reparations for the show and a lot of folks will be watching sunday night and what the man hosting it says about his return to the stage. >> talk about one for the record

now at 4:30, a drug kingpin who has been on the run for months is back behind bars. a tip led mexican marines to a man known as el chapo. el chapo escaped a prison last summer. chilling new video shows a man targeting a philadelphia police officer. officery jesse hartnett amazingly survived the attack. the gunman is in custody and edward archer told police he swore allegiance to isis and we'll get an update in 15 minute sgloos police want to know why a car hit a teenager crossing the street and killed her. at 5:00, meagan fitzgerald talks to a driver that was there right after it happened. >> new details about threats at a high school in prince william county. for the first time we're getting a look at one threat that was scrawled on a wall of woodbridge high school. this afternoon the principal sent a letter out to parent assuring them that they had taken proper security

precautions and each as news 4's megan mcgrath, police are not giving it much credence. >> some students we spoke to think the messages are a prank. >> it's nothing serious. it's not serious. it's just a dude that wrote something on the wall. >> reporter: others say it's a little creepy. >> i've never seen one where it's two and it keeps going. so it's kind of scary. >> reporter: two threatening messages have been found on woodbridge high. the first set a timeframe and said the school would be shot. another message was found on thursday. police say there is no evidence that these are credible threat, but they are investigating and so is the school. a statement posted on facebook says pwcs is working closely with police to investigate and above all, to ensure the safety of students and staff. the community will be advised if police determine there is any credible threat or need for special precautions. we take this very seriously.

taylor harris has seen evidence of that in the form of tightened security. >> at the basketball games after every game or in the hallways you will see them walking around more. >> reporter: and i spoke to one mother off-camera, she said she was concerned enough that she kept her child home from school for a day after learning of the first threat. if it was intended to be a prank, school officials, they're not laughing. they say whomever is responsible will be punished. in woodbridge, megan mcgrath, news 4. our evening weather and our weather for tomorrow very similar, more drizzle, more fog around the area and for this evening, though, we'll even have a few spotty showers through the area and we have it across the area as well and that's where we'll be tomorrow morning and check out western maryland, cumberland and petersburg in the low to mid-30s there and because of that, the fact that there is moisture coming into the area

went on sale to the general public and those tickets sold out in 13 minutes and fedex field is the place to be come sunday. as for today, the redskins, they were in the practice bubble here in ashburn going through a walk through practice and the guys will hold another brief practice here tomorrow, again, two days away from the redskins kicking off the 2016 postseason and they welcome the packers to fedex field and they're one of the toughest places to play this year in the entire league. >> it will be loud than its ever been and the fans did an awesome job. and it's hard to beat us at home and they do a tremendous job and many redskins fans, no green bay fans and let's go in. >> i didn't go to sleep until 1:00 this morning just thinking about the game and my family is here, too.

right now philadelphia police are investigating the ambush of one of their officers as an act of terror. >> the suspect was captured just minutes later and detectives now say he claimed allegiance to isis. brian mooar is following this investigation from capitol hill. what are you hearing? >> reporter: chris and barbara, police are calling this an assassination and they want to know a lot more about the suspect and who he talked to before the attack. >> in philadelphia, a brazen

ambush of a police officer sitting in his cruiser and from the suspect a confession every bit as shocking. >> he stated that he pledges his allegiance to islamic state and he follows allah and that was the reason he was called upon to do this. >> reporter: a surveillance camera captured the moment when the gunman opened fire on officer jesse hartnett shooting point blank, unloading the last of 11 shots as he retreated. hartnett returned fire each though he was hit three times. >> the bravery he demonstrated was absolutely remarkable. his will to live, undoubtedly saved his life and we're ever so thankful to god that he's here today because this could have easily been a police funeral. >> reporter: hartnett lost a lot of blood and underwent hours of surgery and hoes father says he'll pull through. >> he's a tough guy and he's a philadelphia officer. >> reporter: police say suspect edward archer used a gun stolen

from an officer's home in 2013. investigators say their biggest question now is whether archer acted on his own or whether this was a coordinated act of terror. >> the head of the house homeland security committee congressman mike mccall says this is part of a trend. radicalized individuals targeting u.s. law enforcement. barbara? >> thank you. and now video shows how a driver had to think fast and just north of l.a. and the driver noticed -- and out of nowhere a wall of water and debris came right at him. a dash camera inside the car captured the danger. the driver was eventually able to escape unharmed and he said he posted the video to bring awareness to how quickly floodwaters can rise. and we are at least expecting some moderate rain to

move through our area over the weekend and most will be during the overnight saturday going into early sunday morning and our biggest issue on area roads is the fog and look at it is visibility by 9:00 p.m. this evening and not too bad across our area and visibility is one to three miles and more widespread, that fog and by 7:00 a.m., most looks will be under a mile and the fog will start to lift by saturday. once again, out the door for tomorrow, rain jacket and umbrella needed and especially early in the day and late in the day there could be dry periods and with temperatures being continue degrees higher it will be good for exercise on the cool side and good for getting outdoors and keep in mind the fog for early in the day on sunday. and even 8:00 a.m. and there
