developing right now at 6:00, an suv on a collision course with a local store. several people injured. and one person in custody. it's our first look at some of the dogs rescued from a montgomery county home. and you may be passionate about the red skin, but you've got nothing on this woman. she'll explain how she nearly became part of the organization. we have developing news first tonight from northeast, an suv careens into a gelato shop near union market, the crash injured four and left a mess behind.

darcy spencer is live at the scene and learned police took somebody away in handcuffs. >> reporter: i'm going to show you exclusive video of that man who was taken away in handcuffs in just a moment. first let's show you what is happening here at the scene right now. this is at the gelato factory and coffee lab here in northeast washington. this is the mess that you were talking about that was left behind. you can see the impact that the suv made right here in the metal surrounding the doorway. all the glass was shattered here. you can see they're inside right now trying to get this mess cleaned up. let's go to that exclusive video now of the person who was placed under arrest after being given what appeared to be a field sobriety test. we're working to confirm whether he was the driver of the suv that smashed into will building. our camera was also rolling when police poured out what appeared to be a beer can and placed that can into it an evidence bag here

on the scene. news 4 producer shot video inside the store showing the shattered glass. people are telling us that there were injuries here, three adults and one child were hurt. we're not sure how many were actually transported to the hospital. but there were some serious injuries we heard one of the women inside the store may have been hit by a brick p we know that there were in fact patrons inside when this happened. we don't know if all of the injuries were patrons or if in fact someone was also in the suv when it crashed. we're working on get additional details and including about whether the man arrested was in fact the driver. back to you. >> thank you very much. meanwhile people are still out buying powerball tickets for the still growing jackpot. we're just hours away before you could be rich beyond your wildest dreams. i bought one of course. if you don't have your ticket for tonight's $900 million jackpot, time is running out.

the odds of taking home the top prize are not in our favor, but it's not stopping the powerball frenzy. you can open the nbc washington app for hints on how to increase your odds and then we will bring you the winning powerball numbers tonight on news 4 at 11:00. we have new video tonight of members of the so-called rockville, this this is kenya, just one of the 66 dogs rescued from a home on glenn mill road on new year's day. today animal services says it now has legal custody of all of the dogs. and after behavioral assessments and a good bath, some will be put up for adoption. unfortunately, three of the dogs had to be put down. the case is still under investigation. a very busy friday night for d.c. police, they worked multiple shootings including the sdrigts's first murder of 2016. somebody shot and killed joseph robin so thso robinson. police rushed to hayes street northeast after getting reports

of a shooting. they found robinson unconscious. ems transported him to the hospital where he died. at this time, there is no word on a possible motive or even a suspect. we have an update now to another d.c. shooting that we brought you as breaking news last night at 11:00. four people shot on the basketball courts at eastern high school. we learned that a man, two boys and a girl were all hit. police have not released the ages of the victims. all are expected to survive. police do not have anybody in custody. and right now on storm team 4 radar, i'm tracking rain that will be moving into the area later tonight as early at 8:00 p.m. this is the system and here is future weather. you can see some scattered showers. it will move into the d.c. metro area right around 11:00 p.m. and then overnight on into early tomorrow morning, notice the bright colors here on future weather. the yellows and oranges. we'll be tracking some moderate

you'll start seeing sidewalk and road closures as crews get ready to demolish the building near 15th and l streets. the l street sidewalk and one lane will be closed in front of the building while the demolition project continues. everything is expected to be finished by the summer of 2018. fairfax county teachers and parents talked to say the leaders today about the need for a strong school budget next year. they made their case to local delegates and senators at the fairfax government center. earlier this week an aggressive county bunch the was put forth that calls for no cuts to

video released today shows the precise moment an iranian navy ship fired rockets close to two american ships. the u.s. military criticized iran for what it called, quote, highly provocative action. the u.s. ships were crossing international waters last month when iran conducted live fire exercises. iran's military refused to comment but the state run news agency said no vessel was this danger. d.c. police trying to solve a string of shootings in southeast. the first incident happened just after 8:30 friday night on chicago street and then less than an hour later a homicide on
