just one, though, of several big stories we are working for you right now as you take a look at union station. amelia standing by with the latest on rain and winds impacting the area. and finally, redskins fever is sweeping through our region. we'll get you ready for the big game. we begin tonight with the weather. storm team 4 meteorologist amelia segal is keeping a close watch on some heavy rain moving into our area. amelia, how are things looking right now? >> well, erica, tracking rain just about everywhere. the heaviest rain will fall from now until about 4:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. after that, tracking scattered showers. here is the latest on radar. you can see the yellow showing up, indicating some of this heavier rain just leaving frederick right now. some moderate to heavy pocket tsz of rain inside of the district inside alexandria, beth he easy da, traveling tonight dealing with wet roads. you can see heavy rain making

its way tomorrow they're mont. continuing to track pockets again of moderate to heavy rain until about 4:00 a.m. after that, scattered showers, generally very light in nature, only through the mid morning hours and then we'll start to dry out after that. by noon tomorrow, most of the area is dry. not only that, but i'm tracking a major swing in temperatures tomorrow. wait until you see the hour by hour temperature forecast and how the winds impact those temps. that's coming up in about ten minutes. >> thank you, amelia. all right. breaking news right now. we just got your powerball numbers for that massive $900 million jackpot. get your tickets, everybody. take a look at your screens right now. here are those numbers. 32, 16, 19, 57, 34, and the powerball of 13. again, those numbers 32, 16, 19, 57, 34, and a powerball of 13.

again, that is the $900 million jackpot. if you'd like to take another close look at those, you can find those on our twitter accounts as well as on nbc washington.com. we continue with our news this evening. four people suffered serious injuries after an suv plowed into a store in northeast d.c. this afternoon. this happened at a gelato factory. that's right near union market. we've got the exclusive video of the driver of that suv that was being taken away in handcuffs. we'll have more on that story coming up. also breaking this evening, a pedestrian struck and killed in prince george's county. darcy spencer shows up from upper marlboro, the crash closed several roads in that area. darcy. >> reporter: well, erica, like amelia said, it is a rainy, nasty night. let me show you exactly where we are. we're on the northbound lanes of

route 301. you can see near the ramp area to go onto route 4, pennsylvania avenue. you can see state highway administration is here as well as maryland state police. we don't have a lot of information. waiting for an update from maryland state police at this hour. from what we've been told, this happened right around 9:00 this evening here in the northbound lanes of route 301. it won't out as a pedestrian fatality. we don't know why the person may have been out here. there really isn't anything in this area, any businesses or any residences in this area, so we don't know if perhaps the person had pulled over on the side of the road. that part of it is still under investigation. right here on 301, northbound is the only area right now that is shut down. traffic is getting by just fine on pennsylvania avenue. so, again, we're waiting for an update from maryland state police, but from what we've been told, there's a pedestrian fatality. maryland state police are continuing the investigation. we'll bring you more as we get it tonight. >> darcy spencer, thank you so

much. desires for fame on the big screen may have been "el chapo's" undoing. tonight, a stunning revelation is lighting up social media. according to the associated press, rolling stone magazine says sean penn met with guzman in his mexican hideout months before his capture. multiple sources tell nbc news filmmakers from hollywood let u.s. authorities know they were heading to mexico for research. mexican authorities finally nabbed him in his home state of sinaloa. >> when you're a person that is used to getting so much attention not only from law enforcement, from the media, from an entire country and really an entire hemisphere would encourage anybody to think a little more highly of themselves. >> they captured guzman in a bloody and deadly shoot-out friday. he's back in the same mexican prison where he broke out six months ago. "el chapo" faces drug charges in six states here in the u.s. extradition could take months. d.c. police are working

their first homicide of the year. somebody shot and killed joseph robinson last night. police rushed after getting reports of a shooting. they found robinson unconscious. ems transported him to the hospital, where he died. at this time there's no word on a possible motive or even a suspect in this case. the man arrested for ambushing a philadelphia police officer went before a judge today, but there are still a lot of questions about edward archer's possible allegiance to terror groups. archer is charged with attempted murder and illegally possessing a firearm. he's accused of shooting officer jesse hartnett at point-blank range thursday night. archer allegedly told police he was inspired by the islamic state. hartnett is still in the hospital after being hit three times. the protest at that oregon wildlife refuge has been going on for more than a week now, and today protest leader ammon buddy says they won't leave until federal lands are turned over to

locals. the group is also protesting the prison sentences of two ranchers jailed for arson. a group of armed men from the pacific northwest arrived at the refuge. organizers turned them away. a lawyer who is acting as a mediator said bundy and others were concerned about the perception the armed visitors conveyed. the excitement is mounting for tomorrow's packers-redskins playoff game. one soup fan's house in upper marlboro. carol lynn marshal's home is decked out with the burgundy and gold. she started collecting memorabilia in the 60s. and she's got a bold prediction. >> if we win tomorrow, the redskins are going to the super bowl. we have been counted out, dished out, thrown out. nobody has given us a chance for nothing this entire year. even when the cowboys were 3-7, oh, they still have a chance. that's all the analysts talked

new tonight, a uva dean wants more text messages from an alleged rape victim released. dean nicole ara mow is suing rolling stone magazine for $7.5 million. she says the magazine cast her as a villain in its 2014 article about the victim known as jackie. jackie told the magazine she was raped at a frat house, but the claims were unfounded. the dean's attorney says the text messages would expose jackie as a, quote, serial liar. the washington convention center packed today as we kicked off the nbc 4 health and fitness expo. tomorrow is your last chance to take advantage of all kinds of free medical tests, screenings, and forums. on the main stage on sunday, we'll have a bolly wood workout, hula hooping fitness, and a

the fbi says they've caught the woman suspected of multiple jewelry store robberies. abigail kemp was wanted for a string of heists stretching from tennessee to north carolina. an fbi statement says she was taken into custody friday in an atlanta suburb. she was wanted for at least six robberies in five states since last april. tonight we're getting our first look at members of the so-called rockville 66. that's how many dogs were found inside a home on glen mill road on new year's day. now, some of those dogs are up for adoption. montgomery count animal control says the fact that the owner surrendered the dogs to them makes adoption a lot easier. >> it absolutely helps that the owner surrendered care to us. it expedites the process.

we're able to find these animals homes much quicker. >> right now, three dogs are up for adoption, but more will be soon. three of the dogs from the house did have to be put down. that case is still under investigation. meanwhile in terms of the weather, boy, you guys have your hands full tomorrow. we are seeing a bit of everything minus snow. >> just not snow but there's rain, there's wind, there's clouds, there's sun and a huge temperature swing. it's actually going to be mild around. highs around 60 degrees, even the low 60s during the midday and afternoon hours. then by tomorrow evening, it's going to start to feel like january. so because of that, the weather having a moderate impact on your day, the weather headlines, heavy rain during the early morning hours until about 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. much cooler by tomorrow evening, and that's going to be the next big change in our weather because once this cooler air filters in, it hangs on for the

upcoming work week. currently, though, temperatures are balmy, in the 40s. 49 in washington, 48 degrees in ma nas sas, and we actually warm up overnight tonight. tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m., 56 degrees at that point. any heavy rain has moved out of the area. we track scattered light showers until about 11:00 a.m. after that, increasing sunshine and the windy conditions. 11:00 a.m., it is bstery. we'll hit our high of 62 at about 1:00. by the evening, 7:00, 46 degrees but more importantly, with the winds, it will already feel like temperatures are in the 30s. so your weather outlook, outdoor exercise, go around the midday, early afternoon hours. actually quite pleasant during that time period. but walking the dog during the evening, cold and blustery at that point. you can download the nbc washington app to track the showers moving out of the area.

of course tom will be in with updates tomorrow morning. if you're heading to the redskins game, 4:40 kickoff, tailgating not looking too bad, but it be windy. 61 degrees at 2:00 p.m. 4:00, starting to turn cooler with sunshine out there. 57 degrees and by 8:00, as the game is wrapping up, temperature of 43 degrees but feeling more like 35. so definitely bring the warm coat to the game. you will need it for the end of the game. on monday, a high temperature of 4 1. as you're heading back to work and the kids are at the bus stop morning, feel like 17 degrees in washington. make sure they're bundled. on tuesday, clouds increase throughout the day. a high of 44. it's breezy during the afternoon hours. tuesday night, tracking some light rain and snow showers possibly. little or no snow accumulation. the system looks to have a very minor impact on the area. wednesday, thursday, just down right cold.
