penn who secretly interviewed el chapo. it's not clear whether that helped efforts to recapture him. the extradition process could take months because of appeals. well, right now d.c. police are investigating their third homicide of the year. police found a man dead on park drive in southeast last night. we're still working to learn more about what led up to that death. three were killed in the district over the weekend. before the homicides d.c. had 2001 begin the new year. maryland police have found out who the woman was who they found dead in mar beau. they are not sure what killed her. they have found no signs of, quote, suspicious injury. today we expect a former turner elementary school to be charged for cruelty to a development m

have received too much leniency from the state. virginia state water board will have the final say. virginia public schools could have a new superintendent as early as march, just a couple of months away. the school board is happy with the range of applicants. they did not comment on the possible candidates or talk contenders for the job. joshua stark stepped down as superintendent last february. the plan to expand the national harbor has gone before the bureau. the peterson company is meeting with them today. they're working to find out specifics on exactly what kind of charges are being proposed. it's now one of -- not one of but it is the biggest lottery jackpot in the history of the world. wednesday's powerball drawing is up to $1.3 billion. no one matched all six powerball numbers saturday night leading to the astronomical prize. that is all but certain to grow

if you're just waking up we're releasing a break story from overnight. david bowie has died. he has been battling cancer for the last year and a half. take a look at the tells this morning. a lot of people are waking up in the 20s and 30s. chuck says to layer up. more in 25 minutes. barbara dawson died after she was discharged from the hospital last month. the family said the hospital was dumping her because she didn't have insurance. the cameras show an officer

escorting her from the hospital. >> you can walk out of the hospital or i can take you out of the hospital. >> the chief of police said the officer acted appropriately. the hospital said it's conducting an internal review but doesn't have the video of the incident because 13 security cameras all malfunction. dawson's family is now asking for a federal review of the case. the virginia fed ralg review of the assembly could consider bills to allow ads, advertisements on your school bus. the delegate from bristow, virginia, is pushing for the measure. this could provide more revenue for the school districts and that alcohol, gambling, and products would not be allowed. uber announced it's cutting prices in january because ridership goes down in the winter months. this is happening in more than a hundred cities in the u.s. and canada, however, uber did not
