unbearable loss for a nigerian family who rented this home and lost four loved ones in an overnight fire. a house full. seven people inside a ranli ira fire. four didn't survive. 63-year-old samson omogbo and his 65-year-old wife caroline, and their grandchildren, two-year-old twins, annie and israel omijie. >> i heard the name and i jumped into my car. >> reporter: when firefighters arrived in the 6700 block of knollbrook drive they found some family already outside and frantic. >> all they told the firefighters when they arrived is they had other people trapped inside the home. fire showing basically from three sides of the home on two floors. they had to make an aggressive attack of that fire and trying to get inside and pull those people out. >> reporter: the twins mother escaped the flames by jumping

out of a second floor window, she is expected to recover her injuries but it won't be easy to get through a loss this big. >> lovely people. just a sad incident. they called me this morning around 2:00 to 3:00, i was praying with them. it's unfortunate this happened. >> reporter: firefighters battled intense heat and brutal cold to reach the victims, but it was too late to save the four trapped inside. >> we don't see multiple fatality fires like this when you have children involved, it's tough on the community, it's tough on the families, it's tough on the fire service. >> reporter: prince george's firefighters are still working to find a cause. they have focused on the first floor of this home. what is especially tough and frustrating is there is no evidence that there were smoke detectors working in this house. now, they will be back out mere, firefighters will be back out here in a couple hours going door to door in this neighborhood to check to see if other households have working

smoke detectors. molette green, live in chillum, news 4. right now at the live desk, maryland state police are investigating a deadly hit and run crash on the beltway. look at this chopper video of the crash. it happened on pennsylvania avenue southbound at i-495 before the overpass. we just learned one southbound lane has reopened while police investigate how this all happened. so far a description of the suspect and the vehicle they were driving has not been released. anyone with information is asked to contact maryland state police. barbara? >> thank you. right now we're getting new details about the legal action a family is taking after a suspected sexual assault in prince george's county. a 13-year-old boy's mother is suing a rehabilitation company. she claims her son was sexually assaulted in a movie theater bathroom by a patient at that rehabilitation center. the lawsuit claims the incident

happened sunday in brandywine. the suspect is in the care of compass rehabilitation. when the boy's aunt confronted a staff member at parking lot or in the parking lot, the suit claims the suspect admitted to the assault. the boy's mother is suing compass rehabilitation for sexual battery, assault and negligence. two terror suspects will be in an alexandria courtroom later this afternoon. prosecutors say joseph farrokh was trying to join isis. he was arrested sat trying to catch a flight to syria. mahmoud elhassan faces charges for trying to help him. he sblo duesed farrokh to known terrorists overseas. following breaking news at the live desk. the supreme court agreeing to review president obama's executive order to protect some 5 million undocumented people from deportation. now the president said the order would let them "come out of the

shadows and work legally in the u. u.s. experts say the case will likely be argued in april. if so a decision could come by the end of june. we're working to find out the decision on the future of a controversial treehouse. that cassel-style treehouse is in the capitol hill neighborhood. it has windows, towers and a draw bridge. it hangs into public space by two feet. the home owners did get proper permits in august, but neighbors complain it shouldn't have been allowed. the cold created problems for metro. during the morning rush a cracked rail outside the boston station caused delays on the orange and silver lines. once that was repaired another cracked rail had trains single tracking through east falls church. around 8:00 a.m., outbound trains started bipassion the station altogether so crews

at the live desk, a story developing right now in fairfax county. a water main break has forced lanes in both directions of chain bridge road to close. look at what is now ice in the middle of the roadway. this is at the intersection of chain bridge and hunter mill road. fairfax water is working to repair the break. so far we're told two homes are without water. >> of course if you're driving around in that area, the ground is already cold. we're talking about temperatures that are going to be in the 20s today. the only thing that helps dry that out is the wind. that's not going to do a good job. definitely icy spots there. all right. let's talk about snow chances this week. today we're dealing with the wind. we have a chance with snow

>> reporter: indeed they did. this is a planned ride-along with metro's gm and a local member of congress, both regular users of metro. they got to see firsthand what passengers were up against and got to hear from some of those passengers as well. the trip from vienna on capitol south is usually a 40-minute ride. on this day it took longer. this is what thousands of constituent constituents have to deal with. >> we'll be moving momentarily. >> reporter: orange line trains were among those single tracking part of the way, this meant crowding and delays. what's going on today. >> what's going on? >> we'll be moving momentarily. >> we had a cracked rail. when it gets very cold, the steel basically, you know, it cracks. it cracked. when it cracks, they send out an emergency crew to make sure it's safe to go over. if it's not safe to go over it,

right now the wind is causing our already cold temperatures to feel worse. these are the current windchills. lauryn, when will the conditions get better. >> you're right about that. those winds will gust to about 30 miles per hour throughout the day. that's why we are in a storm team 4 weather alert day. we have dangerous windchills. they will stick with us. they are not calming until later on. windchills from zero at higher elevations to about 15. that's what it feels like outside. even though we got all sunshine, it's a beautiful day, just looking at nasty windchills. winds will calm down. again, after 10:00 tonight, they'll go light overnight. temperatures falling into the teens. flurries to light snow showers tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. thursday, get stuff done on thursday. friday and saturday we could have a potential snowstorm that comes our way.

also with a little bit of rain. look at those temperatures. we'll discuss that more in a few minutes. >> all right. developing right now, sheriffs deputies in tennessee are searching for a missing 2-year-old boy. little noah has been gone for five days now. he disappeared during a hike with his grandmother and his 4-year-old sister. the grandmother said she was focus on the little girl. when she looked up, he was gone. rescue crews say it's possible the boy found warmth in a hole or under a tree but it's unlikely. there is new concern over a growing mosquito-spread virus called zika. it's being linked to babies with birth defects. as tom costello reports, that threat is causing new worry in the states. >> reporter: in hawaii, the first known case in the u.s. of a newborn found with traces of the zika virus born with microcephaly, an unusually small head and brain. the health department says the

mother likely contracted zika while living in brazil where microcephaly cases are skyrocketing. with mosquitos carrying zika turning up across the caribbean, the cbc has told women of child bearing age to avoid 14 countries, from paraguay to mexico, central america and the caribbean, including puerto rico. we talked to one of the front line doctors today in brazil. >> i think this is the correct direction to advise women in the first or second semester to avoid these areas. >> each one of these holds 1,000 male mosquitoes. >> reporter: a company is releasing genetically modified mosquitos to carry a gene which kills the next generation of mosquitos. researchers are studying whether climate change and el nino are

two breaks stories. a woman was killed and they're working to find out anything about a suspect in the deadly hit and run. the crash happened on southbound pennsylvania avenue at exit to the beltway. in chillum, four people include two twinned two toddler dead after a house fire. you can see what it looked like on knollbrook drive. the grandparents were also killed. firefighters don't believe the family had working fire detectors. today marks one year since a fire killed a couple and their

doing battle. max is fighting his own battle against hemophilia, a disorder that prevents his blood from clotting. it was scary when he needed surgery to implant a port in his chest for the medicine. but his dad got an idea. >> you're going to get a metal disc in your chest like iron man. his response was, i get to be iron man? >> that's where iron man has it. but they had to put it in a certain spot, so i had to put it here. >> reporter: that's okay. >> yeah, it is. >> reporter: that's how he became iron max. then his big sister, zoe, had an idea to help other kids like max. and created a calendar raising more than $7500 for children's hospital of philadelphia. >> i want one day that there be a cure for hemophilia. i thought try to raise money so that could happen. >> reporter: when marvel comics heard about it, they wrote a new story about iron max and his battle against hemophilia.
